Vah quest tree ultra megathread

Asside from my plague survivor plea, could you confirm the b poultice drops? Been checking around, checking with friends, and even checking ooc with no luck. The text is also rather non descript, but I thought i might have caught on by now.

edit: Yeah, it's dropping. I was checking the wrong place. It has been dropping the whole time, so if you checked somewhere thuroughly and it didn't drop then it's probably not from there.

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

I noticed similar things as alton.

Running through the Lodestone quest, I get the journal updated messages, but my journal doesn't actually get updated. I don't even have an entry for the Lodestone in mine.

EDIT: 'Steak' seems to have had the same problem. You need to go back and run though the text again to make it stick in the journal.

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

How curious. It's almost certainly a bug with the journal system overall. Nothing for it but to keep an eye out, I guess.

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

I noticed a typo in the journal entry for the quest Deaf leading the Blind. I believe Taranshar's salves are supposed to be Tarhansar's salves.

Tarhansar's Slaves?

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

I think the word in question was Tarhansar, which was spelled incorrectly (Taranshar).

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

Oh lol! I missed that... I guess I was stuck on the fact that I had no idea what a salve was (in this context). =P

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

An aside from bugs:
TM you said you started working on the vah quests around two years ago. I'm just interested to know if these NPCs involved actually existed before the collapse of the LoM. I'm not asking in lore :)psyduck:) but in actual code.

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

hrm i have gotten my lodestone quest in my journal to find a vah to help refine my ore

but none of the vah seem to give any new dialoge for my stone and they dont react when i give
any the stone

any suggestions on who to talk to about refineing that lodestone plz

Some of them, yes. Haryn, a few others. The foundation of this quest was what I sent in as my app to become a Quest Designer waaay back when.

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

Out of curiosity - has anyone had any luck finding Salves of Sihala yet?

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

1 grouped trash all around zone-in / lake, no luck.
Mini raid to the first few named, again no luck.

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

I've killed a bunch of trash and named with a raid and haven't seen them yet, but apparently they are in.

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

Hm okay.
I also formed a few grops, a semi-raid and a pickup raid that killed 4 names and at least a few of every sort of trash in different parts the zone (but 3 sorts, one belonging to named) and no luck. Duoed a bunch as well. Was just interested in case anyone had done this part, how long it took them. Because Kedge salves were childishly easy to get compared to these.

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

According to my logs I now killed over 143 creatures in PoE (excluding raid bosses), of 30 different names (again, excluding raid mobs - only killed 5 of those) out of 32 sorts I was able to track with a non-kos scout. I started working on PoE salves 11 days ago and since I currently have time, I went to PoE more often than every other day.
So I'm guessing I'm either unlucky or killing wrong ones (which may be the case, but they're really a pain to get to and whenever I get a group/raid, we die before we reach the place or just run out of time). Even having that in mind, I've been to most places in zone.

The Kedge part of text wasn't nearly as vague, as a matter of fact it was quite clear to a person that's been to Kedge a few times. There's only handful of different creatures and the zone itself can't compare with PoE neither in difficulty nor size . I don't know the drop chances, but I was done with Kedge part in 3 clears of appropriate mobs + the boss.

Even if you limit yourself to the option that would rationally make most sense (bipedal creatures I'd say, but might be way off), you still have plenty to choose from. A slight hint in the quest journal or update of the text you receive from the quest giver would be nice. Either that or add a smaller drop chance to more of Sihala's creatures, please.

PoE is huge and even while being interesting, also quite annoying because of all the roamers, huge treetops that effectively block your view and a few sorts of mobs that aren't easily noticeable in the first place. But not to discourage anyone, some of the named loot I've seen was pretty nice.
Forming a raid that wouldn't just kill raid mobs and skip most but the neccessary trash mobs isn't very easy. And even for a raid it's not very hard to die in a moment of being less careful.
I'm not saying this part of the quest is way too hard per se, but having a sort of a guideline like with PoT, Misery and Kedge quests would definately make this less tedious.

Hopefully I wasn't too big of a jerk, but as it is, noone seems to be progressing with this part (or they're keeping it secret!). And overall I've loved the quest so far!

EDIT: I apparently completely overlooked this line on the front page:* Extended the vah quest drop in Plane of Earth to include most mobs there, but at a far lower chance. (even though I read it twice).

Thanks!

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

I agree completely. I'll be looking over the droprates in earth tomorrow. The frontpage note isn't terribly relelvant because it's been that way for weeks.

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

The cube for the "Cube Gigging" would, several times throughout the duration of the fight, disappear completely to the character that I was duoing with that was not involved with the quest. When I say disappear, I mean that I could see the mob on one screen, and not on the other. The boxed monk I was using for the quest could not see or attack the cube, although when rooted the cube would happily attack him. Rooting the cube and relogging the monk fixed this issue.

This happened twice during the fight. The first time it happened was the second time the cube fleed, and the second time it happened was when the cube's root broke.

If this sounds confusing or ambiguous feel free to send me a tell in-game as Meyers.

Re: New quest tree ultra megathread

I >think< the cube is supposed to teleport to another part of the maze and stand there waiting for you to come find him again.
As it stands, he teleports away, then bee-lines back to you, through about 10 billion walls.

SoD has a weird bug with mobs going through walls randomly becoming 'invisible' to players.
The mob is still standing there, beating on you, but you won't see it, or its target ring. If you can see it on another screen, generally you can position other chars in the right spot, and melee as if you could see it. Bit of a pain in the butt, but it can be worked around.

Is that "as it stands" as in "still doing it" or "as it stands" as in "had that bug a long time ago" ? I posted when I thought fixed it in this thread and all.
