Opuses and Class 3/4 tomes suggestion.

Dear Gar Ga TAY,

Your statement of saying that gaming as a whole is moving more towards casual play is because you yourself have become a casual player. I imagine that if you never got the gear you did while you were in CW you wouldn't have a problem raiding. As it stands there is only ONE guild that can help you obtain loot. Had you not had this loot then you wouldn't be crying about getting tomes because you could join a terrible guild and still get something out of the game. Why not join a guild and help them progress during the times that you are able to farm? Because you get nothing out of it.

To ask for OPUS and CLASS TOME 3 AND 4's for free or made easier to obtain basically negates all of the work that it took someone to get there. As it stands now shards of dalaya progression has become one of the most boring things in all of gaming. Instead of adding cool effects or weapons or different forms of play styles progression is just a linear upgrade of 10 - 20 hp / mana. The only thing that sets itself apart at this time is getting OPUS and CLASS TOMES that are not available to the general public. These books are the sole reasons why some people show up and raid. Their rarity is what basically forces someone to log in and play. I for one have no issue with this as its a form of t12 / t13 loot.

So to all the people who are bitching about all the pretty and shiny things the people at the top of troll mountain are getting why not stop complaining and start trying to throw them off?! obviously because bitching about it is a lot easier.

I'm saying gaming period is moving towards casual, micro transaction casual play games are the fastest growing segment of gaming and its pretty much what most people not just gamers do.

and you might wana ask egho, krugz about helping I have said to them already if im on when their raidng hit me up I'll come help dps monsters (they raid nothing I would even remotely want but their cool people) I havent been on when they raid as of yet but all they have to do is ask .

guess you would be wrong sir :)

TBH I don't think most people care who is on top nearly as much as the people on top, people just want something to do. Maybe not more tomes but as it is there isnt anything else so thats why people are asking for them not because they want to be like the top but for something to do.

guess you would be wrong sir :)

but..... if you're not at the top of troll mountain then you do have a ton to do.....

not really, if you can't for w/e reason dedicate your self to 17 other peoples schedule or can't get a regular 6man team again requiring everyone involved to meet each others schedule and out track/kill the t12+ people who kill the lower 6mans for alt gear/books then theres charms (solo/box can't group and expect to finish) or run out of stuff to do fast.

"He’s also on to something else: Video games turned 40 in 2012, and the median age of gamers is rapidly approaching that same number. It’s a demographic with full-time commitments and short bursts of free time — perfect for what we now consider casual games."

completely not related but I'm totally going to go pick my daughter up from school now then go play lazer tag at the park with her lol.

When your entire stance could be summed up as, in my day we had to walk uphill through 40 feet of snow in a blizzard while wearing concrete shoes, if we even had shoes. It is probably time to rethink your position.

People need things to do, the very high end is interesting to an increasingly small subset of players. This number of players is not sufficient to sustain the game. SoD needs more than one path of progression to last in order to sustain a healthy game. There are a limited amount of possible players, that is shrinking all the time (the % of people who would be loathe to play an extremely old game for instance, or the aging demographic EQ was intended for in the first place, or Live being free now, several of my old friends have gone there). Opening up tomes extends the average life of what I would expect is a number of players at least equal to the number of people who would enter high end raids. Increasing the amount of players overall, also increases the amount of people grouping, which is likely to further aid in retention. The entire too many things and too long a path drives people away that I've seen in these forums time and time again is more applicable to raiding than it is to anything else in the game.

I feel like the general sentiment here is (without saying it in so many words):

"I can't raid with HBM, so I will never get all the T13 gear/ tomes. May as well quit."

I am somewhat lumped into that category, sadly. It's sucks that the only way I could progress my Cleric is unavailable to me, due to work schedule and school currently. Does that mean I should quit cause I have nothing left to live for?

  • Has all available tomes done
  • Has a supreme charm
  • Has a VAH back
  • Ally with all factions
I cant make the raid times of everyone else therefore I'm a casual.

Hmm.. A. This game is not work. It is supposed to be fun. B. People have worked for many things on this game, why does this mindset only apply to tomes? people seem to be fine with handing out High tier loot to twink characters and new raid members that are likely not even close to on par with the content being done, doesn't that negate people who broke into high tier contents "hard work"?

So to all the people who are bitching about all the pretty and shiny things the people at the top of troll mountain are getting why not stop complaining and start trying to throw them off?! obviously because bitching about it is a lot easier.

First of all, bringing up problems that can be fixed is not bitching, its attempting to fix a problem.
If you read what was being written the problem is many people cannot afford to raid. You cannot compete with someone on this game who's time has no value.

Problems that can be fixed are - zone exp modifiers, quests that are having issues adding other forms of exp expenditure. Giving a perk of raiding to those who do not raid because "hey i want that too" is not fixing a problem....

What you are doing by begging for raiding tomes is what our kids do to us. My 9 month year old can manipulate me and my wife with ease now. If she wants a toy and she cant reach it she will keep on trying until she see's one of us. The moment that she see's one of us she will start to hysterically cry until we give her the thing she wants. If you're like my wife you will give it to her and instantly gratify her. If you're like me you will walk away and peak through the corner to see what she does. While she is hysterically crying she will keep on going and going until she gets it. Hooray for you for working on something you wanted!

When did the population of this server change from people eager to go out and conquer something to a bunch of bitch babies wanting everything to be handed to them?

When I bitch about something I bitch about not having a good set of pancakes.

Probably right about that. I'm not sure the finished every available tome and the casual playtime crowd are the same though.

This is why I'd love to see some other xp mechanic that allows for both long term (hundreds of aa) and short term (tens of aas) gains, whatever those end up being.

People hate tomes, think they're a failed experiment, and applaud their removal, yet they cry out for access to more of them? There must be another way.

I bet we can think of something that will benefit everyone, nerds who have really finished every useful tome and those who haven't done any.

I find this rather insulting to well, anyone who plays this game. Implying your time is more valuable is not going to win you any favors. Not sure exactly who your competing against, in a game you work together with people to get things accomplished. Personally, I prefer to compete against my former self. (I know all that guys tricks!)

For most people I do not think this is true. Though that has certainly been the dominant narrative of a vocal subset of the forums, and the way the game has been shifting. The writing has been on the wall for quite some time, and many of the people with a huge problem with that have just moved on because they disagree with the direction the game has been heading.

when it went from 400-500 ppl with no lives to 60-175 people with full time jobs preteen-teenage kids and relationships to manage.

I've already made my decision tbh I only log in or bother because I'm just finishing what I started then that's it. To sit there and say people will just keep trying, no they will just find something better to do with there time (its a GAME its suppose to be fun ssshhh secret) .

At this point much like Aisling (pretty much retired but still pop in) I'm sharing a perspective that might actually help the server and player base as a whole not the handful of people at the top who don't want anyone else to have things unless they can commit "work" into a game.

with that said off to make dinner and play some board games and what not with my kid.

Find it insulting all you want, you didn't refute it. If you have all day to do nothing other than sit on a video game then yes, your time has no value.

You need to learn how to argue, saying someone is a baby because they present a case is not you refuting it, its you wasting peoples time. I would challenge your bottom statement and call for a single line were someone ever implied they should get tomes handed to them. We are asking for access to tomes that should not have been raid only from the beginning, or with the change of times, should be made not raid only. The Loot that drops in those high end zones is ludicrous compared to the lesser tier loot / BoE . The Loot is more than enough reason to raid, this idea that the tomes could NEVER be anything but raid loot is a complete fallacy, they could have just as easily been released as new tomes for everyone.

it is when they clearly were implemented to be raid level content rewards. but you wouldnt know that because apparently you spend your much valued time bitching on a board rather then playing in game.

Totally done with your miniscule e-peen. You waste your time whining to a wall. I'm going to go slay high tier monsters with friends.
