Thoughts from a current donator.

flattr.com - it allows for micropayments for things you like/want to support. It's a pretty new concept.

the idea of fame for donations was cool (supporting the server certainly warrants "fame")

also, in regards to the ammo illusion, make it an item that gives a random illusion on caster. I want to see random mistborn's floating through athica

The vast majority of models will show up as naked human in most zones. Loading every model in every zone would make zoning take like 20 times longer. And some models will just crash the client if you try to load them in certain zones.

Fake Beard has no model. :(

And could potion of lycanthropy stack and be tradeable? The fd animation is almost as good as ogres. I would hand it out for groups. You could charge 10 or so pp for it then.

How about in the building of the pocket plane where the "decorative armor" merchants are, there could be class trainers? I mean at least they would get used and seems like a nice convenient location.

I just noticed this thread and I think I have a valuable 2 cents to throw in so here goes.

Thoughts of a Platinum Donator:

First off the only perk I actually use is item dye (and I got a 100% wr bag from donator plane) but I deleted my amulet for space and have yet to summon another one

- Leave swift treads alone. (perfectly fine, I cannot cast SoW on a lowbie with this clicky gotta be lvl 45+)
- Faster cast time of golden donator boots. Scale of wolf is a fragile spell with more run speed then sow, and this is acceptable. However it is not worth waiting for that super long cast time in almost all instances. (currently underpowered)
- Fame points for donating is a good idea. (well earned respect for our monetary support)
- Race change is a great idea (as long as you are donator flagged you can be whatever race you want no restrictions but you have your original race bonus's.) It can be like a semi-permanent shape-shift. (aesthetic buff that is in high demand)
- Buff bots. Get real. Thumbs down. (overpowered)
- Summon a banker. There is one zone which this can already be done, and is not a bad idea. We don't need to summon a vendor, a banker is reward enough. If you are going out hunting you should have stocked up on reagents earlier. (convenience)
- Translocator. Bad idea. (overpowered)
- Safe-passage through MoP. Great idea. (convenience)

Just my thoughts on some changes that were discussed here. For what it's worth, staff has been doing a great job with fixing things as of late. There is not another game out there that I would rather be playing. You guys deserve the donations you get and I see no reason to hold back on giving your faithful donators all the convience/cosmetic rewards you can muster. Get your paper booboo.

Edit: the decorative armor vendors are indeed pointless. Who has room for that junk!

So will my human turned froglok be blind still? I think, though I may be totally wrong, that a fair few people want the race changes to change bonus's. A lot of characters predate the current race bonus/penalty system or were made by people who did not know/understand the bonuses until they had invested dozens and dozens of hours into a character.

On a related note, donor item:
Deluxe XP Grinder, throw a character in to remove all xp, AAs, and tomes to extract XX% of their xp into an account bound potion.
This outlandish suggestion serves a plethora of functions: Have a obsolete character? Buy a grinder. Tired of whining how your class is broken and some other class is amazing? Buy a grinder. Was the latest nerf swinging the bat too hard? I dunno, did a bunch of people just buy grinders?

imo they could give donators some benefits, however, nothing that will be game breaking as that ruins servers.

this being possibly the last bastion of hope for all of the everquest we know and love, i surely hope it doesnt get ruined like all the eqemu servers. which also brings us to an important point, it also needs donations.

imo convenience type benefits are fine, such as name/race changes, translocators, maby double exp up to level 40 or something for a price (not to be allowed for higher levels or aa's). maby some no drop 10 dose sow potions or something. stuff like that is fine but when u start getting into other stuff it just ruins the game for most of the population.

dont wanna see some kid with rich parents buy him his character, who now comes and steals and solo's my groups spot or steals our raid mob lol.

I have about 2400 hours on my main. (over which i have accrued a massive 100 fame)

Shapeshift gives you vision, just not the racial bonus's. You can get a race change from fame but I was told this does not change racial bonus's anyway. (that could be incorrect) But either way recieving fame from donating could get you that nifty race change you've been looking for

Lowering the fame cost of a race change wouldn't be a terrible idea though.. its 1k for a title but 1.5k for a race change? Seems fishy to me I think a title would be worth more.

Umm... 5 seconds is damn fast.

I've spoken a lot in private channels about a similar idea but never posted it here:

Sell ammo slot worn illusion items for real money. People will totally buy this and it does not confer a game breaking advantage or any advantage really except being able to fit through doors and look cool.

@Fuwok This is a great idea but think about the rangers!!!

Building off the ideas I've gathered here:

-Add a new aug slot on charms that can be used with donation purchases.

-Put in a donator charm that has 1ac 10hps 10mana. This would be given to any one that makes a donation. So even those just starting can use donation augs.

- Augs that give cosmetic benefits such as armor colors, illusions

- Place a nother NPC in Player house zone that sells donator items to flagged accounts. Also allows donators to vender from their homes.

- Guild halls for donators If guild has total of $XX.00 (>100 ish in monthly sub) Guilded toons will have access to a guild hall zone. (This will make guilds advertise for donations not staff)

-Port in clicky usable in all towns.

-Ports to Mistwoods, North Badlands,West Plagued lands, Greater Faydark, Great Divide

-Supplies Merchant, Pearls, Food, drink, beer, Pdots, Aug Kit, NPC potion vender
Trophies, non-listsold storage, Banker

-Buff bots (Good idea but not likely) Allow for 1-2 Guild members to be cloned for buff botting and stationed in the hall able to buff members

Isn't it about time it was clarified whether or not donators are getting tangible benefits or not because the discussion is tying itself in knots on this point.

For example, I don't see buffbots as OP just a means of saving 15-30 mins buffing my boxes which I would personally value as I have limited time. I don't get any other advantage apart form the time saving but, for me it's worth a donation and it is most definitely a worthwhile benefit to quite a few.

Similarly, race change isn't a game breaker but as several people remarked having better vision just saves a lot of irritation and save sme having to cast plain sight and an illusion on my 2 main toons.

If people were suggesting an aug with a 1000AC and 5K hit points (or even 50 AC and 500 hps) then I could see the obvious issues around game breaking.

The fact remains that there are a lot of bruised people who stopped donating for various reasons and they will probbaly only be persuaded to donate again if they get some slight but tangible benefit.

In-game donator benefits are already pretty great.

If my shaky morals are leaving me blind to some monstrous scummy thing then ok. Maybe game-related activities outside the game can be tied to donations. I have some idea, real or imagined, that there is some list of tasks to be accomplished by developers and trainees at any given time. If these tasks were available to players with an open amount to be donated, and priorities assigned to the highest donated task then ..... uh...good things?

edit - there must be other game related things players might feel compelled to donate towards, like sending food to the trainee island or getting xardon to Armor-all© the server box.
