Ranger CoD Quest Reward

Glorax is #1 on a ton of our spires parses.

The 2nd rujik parse I looked at you are #2 only to me.

Like I already said though necros could use better sustainability like a super lich or something.

Remove all combines involving large stacks and/or quivers.

Multiply prices of all bought components by 50.

Add Quiver to all arrow combines.

All Arrow combines result in a quiver of arrows.

Perhaps give an enhanced chance to skill up per combine for fletching (3 combines = 1 skillup, 600 combines = max skill). Give one time bonus to fletchers .1 * current skill rounded up in fame so we don't completely dick over everyone who has killed themselves working up fletching.

Instead of easy skill ups, perhaps:
Add one combine past the skill level of each set of arrows. Adds a no-drop type 4 aug that gives +8% chance focus effect of [Returning Arrow] for arrows in previous set (reagent con that works on all arrows with dmg <= arrow set's damage and only works on arrows that are crafted... or adds proc that gives a 8% chance at summoning current arrow.

All rangers that rather fletch, rejoice! All rangers that rather buy, get to spend more/use more bag space on arrows. Price of fletching reflects price of components rather than millions of clicks.

I'm writing to request that [LORE ITEM] be taken off the arrows (http://wiki.shardsofdalaya.com/index.php/Sky_Darkener) that come from the ranger CoD quest reward.

Maybe in place of that they could be [NO RENT]?

I actually think it is better that Sky Darkeners are LORE. Sky Darkeners are actually already NO RENT, but they don't display the tag for some reason. I would argue that the NO RENT tag is not necessary however. Would kinda be nice to log in to a stack of Sky Darkeners instead of having no arrows.

What if the proc was changed to some decent dps proc and it autocasted the same summon arrow that is in now?

I kinda like Shadowstorm the way it is, but if it was going to be changed in any way I think something along these lines would be best

Change it to a rain that summons a stack onto the ranger per wave if he doesn't resist it DUH (haha)

If you'll all remember back before the fletching revamp, rangers always carried around a fletching kit and 4 stacks of components for Silver Steel Bodkin Arrows so that we could fletch arrows on the fly in case we ran out.

When Tao revamped fletching, it include a DPS upgrade - we still had 8 base damage arrows, but the possibility of bane damage could increase our DPS significantly. Quivers had 50 charges, which gave us more available stacks of arrows to use before we had to hit the fletching vendor again. It also cost less to fletch a whole quiver than it used to cost to make a raid's worth of Silver Steel Bodkins. All-in-all, Tao's revamp was great, and the ranger's existence improved considerably.

The summoned arrows on the CoD sword give rangers a taste of greater freedom from consumable ammo, yet the limitation of 20 of these arrows means that rangers must continue relying on all of the same quivers we had before, plus the addition of this item, in order to do our best, most reliable DPS. Basically, instead of moving rangers towards greater freedom from consumable ammunition, this item makes things more complicated.

A number of decent solutions have been proposed in this thread. I hope Tao and Marza can come to some sort of agreement which will allow the ranger CoD item to function in a way that doesn't further complicate a ranger's management of his ammunition.

What about a low proc rate 2 tic buff or debuff that makes archery more potent? That seems in like with marza's original intention. Meele until it procs, then back out and get a few high powered bow shots in.

Can't really see this as useful as we'd lose DPS whenever we melee, although maybe we'd get the DPS back after we back up to bow... but if it evens out you might as well stay out and bow throughout. Also, being required to constantly move in and out of melee range during a fight seems even more complicated than meleeing for a while beforehand in order to get your full stack of arrows.

The CoD sword (its current incarnation) has some utility, but the 20 arrow cap, the minor improvement in damage those arrows provide, and the sword's moderate melee potential means that the benefits of using this item are severely constrained. An improvement in any of those areas, I think, would help immensely.

Yes, pre-nerf rubbish. Not germane unless you are biased and hate a class, which you do and have worked viciously to have nerfed for close to 2 years. How generous of you to allow us some mana after you did everything possible to get us gutted.

Lol, I have?

Necros were kinda OP with FC at t5-9, but I dont remember hating them or trying to get them nerfed. All classes are OP at some point in the game.

so if nothing happens to the sword in terms of a more useful proc or less complicated arrows, can we at least make it emanate like some sweet purplish mist particles or something?

secondary was added to the weapon about a year ago when the arrows were boosted to 12 damage.

Man, this hurts, Baxters. Eisley just owned the hell out of you because you haven't bothered to notice this after all your posting in this thread. Come on man, tighten up!

really? no way lol... had it for a few weeks and i remember specifically trying to put it in secondary after i first got it... musta been tripping out or maybe i dreamed it? sod entering me dreams....????? damn.. time for a break!?

and isnt riposte dmg based off your primary weapons damage? i remember being annoyed i was forced into the lower dmg cod sword instead of caretakers.....

I think I was the first person to get the ranger sword... maybe.. I dont really remember, but when I got it I complained to marza a bunch and he made those changes. So, this sword was already buffed. Yes, it sits in my bags next to 4.3 sword. Not all items can be good for all classes... although, it does kind of suck that rangers don't really get any cool weapons and progression basically goes drakes>saitha>blazewind? (I would argue blazewind bow is worse than saitha) BUT then you step back and say none of this matters because rangers are ridiculously good. Then you uninstall sod and go outside and talk to a girl
