Fletching Revamp Megathread

Currently only 1 arrowhead can be created, would it be possible to add the other 3?

Or have I just not tried enough to create them yet?

There's a recipe for bone arrowheads but no hints to what it is (yet).

There won't be a recipe for the blunted arrowheads

Still considering a recipe for the enamel arrowheads, there will need to be a farmed component though.

I only use the crap 1cp arrows to pull, but they appear not to be on merchant in surefall anymore, there's throwing knifes, but not arrows... intentional?

Basically same here. Is there something comparable that's can be bought from a Player Fletcher for about the same price? I don't really want to take up another TS so I can pull with my warrior :p

lots of people selling quivers now as they level up fletching, just check listsold or pay attention to auction some. Can get cheap pulling quivers for like 20 plat or some crap that lets you summon 50 stacks of arrows.

So I tried to make plant-bane arrows, using first lotus stalks, then roots, then strychnos seed, but none of them worked. Is the +1 plant bane seriosuly diseased treant bark, or is it some other reagent that either isn't listed or one that doesn't make sense for +1 plant bane arrows? Or am i just not hitting the button correctly? Doesn't make sense to me why i can't make these arrows...

Nvm last post, fell told me i need to use specialty varnish for plant bane arrows. Dunno how i was supposed to figure that out, as bane varnish would make more sense, nor is it in any books the difference between bane varnish and specialty varnish. idk how i would have figured this out if a different fletcher hadn't told me.

Trial and error is a great method to figure stuff out.

On a different note, is the fine-giant-bane combine with the giant club working yet? I'm in no real hurry since i won't be able to play until after turkey day, but i was just a little curious.

so didn't even know about this change till i reinstalled sod today, got to about page 4 of this thread before i threw up in my mouth, funny considering 5mins ago i was loling at the Mop change and people mad about that.

a) i agree completely with drizz

b) lol at nerfing a already garbage class and it is a nerf i dont care my "potential" went up it requires me to grind something other than aa/tomes and inherently isn't fun

but i was using 1damage giant bracer arrows in yclist before this revamp because tradeskills/ long quests are stupid AND i don't donate to this game so my thoughts on this are pointless i agree.

Use a minor amount of the money you inevitably gain when getting AAs and tomes and buy a stash of good arrows to use when it really matters and just use garbage ones the rest of the time?

Donators have no magical sway over design decisions and effort put in dictates quality of returns. No one is forcing you to buy arrows that let you sustain damage similar to nightmare arrows for much longer periods of time but the option is there, and how is that not an improvement.

Rangers are now the only class that spends money as they DPS. This is a problem. Not to mention this is what was given to us after already being the most boring to play DPS class in the game. Telling us to use the money we acquire as we play is real a no-brainer, we HAVE to spend money on arrows so we can DPS. Would rogues enjoy a different back stab where money would fall out of their pockets every time they hit the button? How about making it so monks had to spend 1pp every time they press the FD button. These all seem like great ideas to me, money sinks for everyone, because who doesn't love money sinks?

No one is forcing you to buy arrows

Yes, they are.

Nightmare arrows had +10 base damage. Best arrows in the game now have 8.

99% of raid mobs I run into (perhaps I'm missing out) are Greater Elemental. There is no bane arrows for elementals. So we are forced to use a +4 to a random elemental damage type that can be resisted. With resists rangers are doing at best the same DPS then having +10 arrow. However said +10 dmg arrows were free, also mages could summon +9 dmg arrows they were also free.

I really do not see why fetching wasn't just changed to let you make +10 arrows, nightmare arrows could have been nerfed to 9 dmg, or MOST important why Rangers do not have Endless Quiver, yeah I know "OMG THIS ISNT LIVE!!!1"

Can we trade in our longer range on track tome for an Endless Quiver tome?

Better yet make a long quest that is ranger only that will reward you with one arrow that will never go away. Quests after will upgrade the arrow.

I honestly don't get all this fuss and I AM A RANGER. I can honestly say that i prefer the current situation to what was there before. Yay for no longer pray that i may be lucky enough to get the Nightmare Arrows. I can do equivalent damage, all i need to do is pay attention to type while I kill shit.

You know what would be a better suggestion to the complaint that these mobs are greater elementals? Asking for Elemental bane arrows? Or better yet.... think of what type of elemental it is! Maybe bother a Bard (heaven forbid) to use Jaylas and figure out what kind of element it is weak to if its not as simple as the fire v cold situation.

Seriously, the cost per stack now is <<<<<< than the cost per arrow to make back in the day. Can't you at least appreciate that?

Having to deal with ammo in any way is a pain. It is also an aspect of the game that only rangers have to deal with. I think doing away with this pain as a whole would make the game more enjoyable to play.

I can do equivalent damage, all i need to do is pay attention to type while I kill shit.

If raid zones where made up of a large number of different types then this would be true, however it isn't.

You know what would be a better suggestion to the complaint that these mobs are greater elementals? Asking for Elemental bane arrows? Or better yet....

How is asking for even more arrows to deal with and carry in you bags better then asking for an arrow you can use in every situation and have more bag space?

Maybe bother a Bard (heaven forbid) to use Jaylas and figure out what kind of element it is weak to if its not as simple as the fire v cold situation.

In the majority of the places I raid (again, maybe I'm missing out) just because the mob is made out of 100% ice said mob will NOT have low resistance to Fire or the other way around. Mobs in ToT are still very resistance to ice spells.

Seriously, the cost per stack now is <<<<<< than the cost per arrow to make back in the day. Can't you at least appreciate that?

any cost is > free

EDIT: I would just like to point out that I agree that Quiver of the Mind was a dumb Item

Did you honestly create a Ranger with the expectation or hope of never needing to worry about ammo? Are you seriously complaining about bag space with needing multiple quivers which would each house what was previously 50 slots of arrows? You truly think that the old Nightmare Arrows were a good thing for the game? You really want to get Endless Quiver implemented?

These ideas are terrible.

No, I created a ranger because I played one in live and I enjoyed the class.

Yes, if a ranger was to have one quiver of each kind of the best arrow in the game he would have:
1) Cold Arrows
2) Fire Arrows
3) Poison Arrows
4) Disease Arrows
5) Arachnid-Bane Arrows
6) Animal-Bane Arrows
7) Clockwork-Bane Arrows
8) Construct-Bane Arrows
9) Insect-Bane Arrows
10) Plant-Bane Arrows
11) Undead-Bane Arrows
12) Giant-Bane Arrows
13) Dragon-Bane Arrows
14) Humanoid-Bane Arrows

or a bag and a half if I didn't miss any. I know having every type of arrow on you at all times is dumb and perhaps pointless but currently Kedrin has half a bag full of quivers. Can you name me one other class that had half a bag dedicated to them doing dps? So I will say it again, having to deal with ammo in any way is a pain. Also, rangers are now the only class that spends money as they DPS. This is a problem.

You truly think that the old Nightmare Arrows were a good thing for the game?

errr..

I would just like to point out that I agree that Quiver of the Mind was a dumb Item

Yes, in some form I think rangers should have endless quiver. They could do this in many different ways.

1) buff the return arrow aa to 100%
2) make an endless quiver tome
3) make an arrow quest that never goes away that you can upgrade via more questing (like the pally/sk vah sword)
4) put a hard to make no drop arrow that will never go away that can be made with max skilled fetching

These ideas are terrible.

Thanks for your constructive criticism.
