Fletching Revamp Megathread

Staff do not provide walkthroughs. The revamp -just- happened. You can find some information on the wiki page for Fletching, its been added to everyday since the change.
 
The in-game fletching books have almost all the information you need.

The SoD wiki is developed through player-provided content.

Granted, I've done a LOT of tradeskill stuff on the wiki, but I won't be doing any of that this time since I'm involved in Fletching as a staff member and not just as a player.
 
Ignoring driizz's complaining,its pretty clear there is no selling/buying market for arrows.basicly every main ranger is fletching.

For the small market there is since only rangers will buy arrows,theres only a market for 5dmg+ arrows.now my fletcher is only 51 atm and I got that far in a couple hours,I choose combines I would fail on just to reduce the mass stock of useless arrows.even with that I destroyed 10k+ 1dmg arrows and atm I'm sittin on 6k 3dmg arrows......

The ability to sell the arrows back to the vendors would be huge.... thats a nice chunk of plat to invest in to combines that will only be destroyed... no other tradeskill has that problem to the best of my knowledge...and even more pressing because what do rangers do on raids use arrows.. throw us a bone.

I haven't had a terribly hard time selling quivers, but they do sell slower than I make them and that caused me to run out of money. If i could have sold them, I would have gotten probably 10 more points in fletching from the increased amount of money. But that would make fletching too easy, because it is all vendor bought. And since it's so important in raiding, that wouldn't be good :/
 
udeni you make 5+ dmg arrows.... theres a small market for those.. everything below that is destroyed... even 1/10th of the cost to make the combines would be better then nothing.
 
I only use the crap 1cp arrows to pull, but they appear not to be on merchant in surefall anymore, there's throwing knifes, but not arrows... intentional?

You call my comments complaining, but I already said the exact same thing as this earlier. But when I said it, it was complaining right?

Anyways Tao already talked to me about this. The current prices of arrows are balanced to the fact that you can't sell them back to the vendor. If he made the vendor buy them back he would also have to raise the price of the components. It sucks I know.
 
Yes, when I calculated the desired prices for the components, I considered the buyback and instead just lowered the component prices to compensate. Even if you sell the arrows to other players or use the arrows yourself, you are benefitting from the vendor buyback. While not appropriate for many situations, it's seemed like a reasonable thing to do for arrows.
 
On a slightly different note, I have noticed that a giant club is listed as a possible component for arrows and I cannot place a giant club in the quiver for the sake of imbuing.

Dust of Decay is the reagent for Elemental Disease Damage. Why? If anything Diseased Treant Leaves or bark should be the reagent. They both have the word Disease in them. I know the bark is already used but another item that makes more sense could be substituted. I anticipate Disease damage being used much more than Plant bane so that would be nice.
 
Dust of Decay actually makes MORE sense from a lore standpoint for disease damage, regardless of the fact that "disease" is in the name of those. Also, making previous underutilized items useful for things is A++.
 
Well either way normal Treant leaves should be Plant dmg.

Also neither item was utilized for anything important before...

I believe there may be an issue with a recipe. Through reasoning and communication with a guildie who is also working on fletching, we have come to the conclusion that three items can be used for the giant-bane arrows. Cyclops toes, giant club, and giant blood. Since the giant blood is used for giant-bane and i was told the cyc toes do not work for the fine-bane varnish, i have deduced that it must be the giant club to be combined with the fine-bane varnish. If I am incorrect, please let me know.
 
I'm confused. If you know those three items are for giant-bane arrows, why are you trying them with fire arrows?
 
Your confusion confuses me. I never said anything about fire arrows. I am talking about the fine-bane varnish used to imbue the arrows with a slightly higher bonus than the bane varnish.
 
Disregard. I've been getting confused between fire and fine ... stupid font. Yeah, the giant club is the imbueing agent to make a Quiver of Fine Giant-Bane Arrows.
