Vendor / Banker Character Names Discussion Megathread of Happy Fun Times

Not arguing here, just a question:
Would it be against the rules to rename our banker "Amicii", since it's also the toon that is holding the real leadership of the guild. All the other people are officers.

After re-reading the naming policy, I don't think it would, but I prefer asking here first before I bother a GM with a petition.

(and yes, there's an Amicii already, and I'll delete it if I get a positive answer. I don't want to deal with overly playfull forum readers ;))

Doesn't Amicii violate the naming policy anyways?....

...Maybe having someone named manaaugs wasn't annoying enough by itself, but when there were 1,000 of these characters, spammed in ooc every day, and getting more business at worse prices because they had rulebreaking names,...

If you are going to use the example of "manaugs", his prices were cheaper then the competition since no one had to spend 10 minutes finding the mana augs. The number of mobs you can kill in the time difference easily makes up for the price differential. It's pretty much classical economics.

The spam i'll agree with you on.

This may just be a bad idea that I havn't thought though enough, but Is it possible to use the tradeskill flags on items to split listview into 2 sections?

A crafters market vs an adventurers market. Nothing new for players to add themselves, but it filters players with 0 crafted items out of the crafters market and visa versa. There will still be players with listings in both, but I think this will cut down on the 'unwated' spam when searching listview while still allowing one to easily find what they are looking for without taking too much away from interactiveness.

Guess I'm just a lazy tradeskiller, who refuses to have a billion bots. I'll run out for a week (hello, real life!) before I'll start 10 alts just to sell stuff. I use Kerolynne for augs, Karalynne for DM. Those have been my only two smithing vendor mules ever since I started smithing. *shrug*

I'm plat donor, so theoretically I could list 120 or whatever per char. I'm lazy. Too damn much work to stock an AC aug mule, mana aug mules, etc.

Folks know I smith. Folks know if I'm out, then they either buy elsewhere, or wait for me to actually log my ass on to make them stuff. It's not that tough.

I do like the idea of actually being able to tell what kind of augs, runes, etc., in description. Like Platinum AC Rune, Platinum mana rune, Exceptional Quality AC Rune, Exceptional Quality mana rune, etc. If it's feasible, and not a coding nightmare.

That's what I am trying to figure out.
But from my understanding of the naming policy (been reading it like 10 times since yesterday), no.
The latin root and some modern romance word for "friends" does not violate the naming policy? I'm not sure, but your intention to use the name in the same way as the new policy is trying to suppress seems to hint towards 'yes'.

Personally, I really like this change. It gives everyone an equal footing in selling items.

If I saw someone with the name Statfood, for example, I'd be less inclined to try to sell stat foods. It almost seemed there was a competition for best names going on.

Of course, I don't set up characters and names just for selling, so this change benefits me. I'd probably be bitching and moaning if I'd had.

no one is stoping ANYONE from having 700 toons in which each carry whatever the hell it is you wish it to carry.

its the names that we dont want.

Well. We can't come out with anything decent as of yet, and it's our guild leader.
We are not trying to go around the naming policy. It just seems logical to us. If it violates the naming policy, or the new intent in the changes, we'll find something else.

I agree with this 1000% and do not believe it would be remotely difficult to do. This suggestion could probably use its own thread though.
