Vah quest tree ultra megathread

just updating my situation here since i have not managed to catch you in irc yet: i've now rescued both vahir and received a new banner, but while ghan shows up in my camp, the other does not.

also if you care, in ghan's speech 'separate' is spelled wrong and the plural of shaman is not shamen but shamans if you don't care whatever i don't either!!
 
It seems it is possible to start many of the sidequests multiple times even after having completed them. For example, I was able to get a new unfocused lodestone from Yeljena (along with a new entry in my journal) even though I had already completed that quest. I was also able to receive a new list of ingredients despite the fact that I had already given a list to the alchemist. Doesn't seem like the sidequests should be working that way, but if it's intended feel free to ignore this post.

a quick search reveals that it might be, though both merriam-webster and oxford disagree with you. it's not an english word but it seems strange to force it into a category populated with animals like deer, moose, fish, sheep, buffalo, swine, and caribou and concepts like series and species!

but at any rate it is not shamen.

also: came here to post that turning in the 4 "rust cards" to *Clockwork triggers the same dialogue and opportunities as does turning in the 3 items he actually wants, though the cards are returned.

We got a herd of sheep, a school of fish, a flock of birds....for shaman would it be a shock of shaman?

Before someone else mentions it, for underhill residents, it's a raid of gnomes. Just ask Dolly!
 
i don't know what anyone did to this quest but the dialogue in the vah camp is blazing fast and doesn't lag the zone even 1/10 as much as it used to so GOOD JOB.
 
When you kill Si`Thl`Li`Thara, the emote is:

Mira Shahar slips out of the shadows near Si`Thl`Li`Thara. 'Effective, if a bit messy. Still, a commendable job for someone with no real training. Come speak with me, NULL .'

NULL should be a character, I believe. ;)

Also, if you don't choose the "- [D4] Let's go." option on the first hail, you can never get it to come up again. Hailing again gives the other options, but not the Let's go. You have to type it manually.

Sometimes the NULL thing works, sometimes it doesn't. It's your character's name when it does function; I never figured out exactly why that wasn't always working. As for the other, it's an easy fix.
 
I had an issue during the Siren's HP spawn that may have messed up my ability to progress in the quest. I got PL during the Hidden Presence spawn and had to relog. When I came back the traveler had despawned along with the little vah (which I never got to interact with). Now Nevaldan asks me to do the next tier of Hidden presences and Shaylan appears in the camp while the little vah does not. I am currently clearing SG again, but my concern is that I will not be flagged to summon the Vah from the Hidden Presence spawn as technically I am on the next part of the quest.

missing poultice?

Ok, so ive talked to 10+ other people working on this sidequest to find 'a burning poultice'. and none have had any luck in locating it. I am curious if any have even dropped on the server.. the quest is VERY vague and doesnt give Any hints on where it Should drop. Where it could drop? Ive tryed over 9 different zones that would seem obvious to drop something of related to a 'burning', 'shaman', 'old warrior', 'goo', 'polish granite/marble' and none of them have turned up anything. the other 3 items are pretty direct about where to look and are from fairly easy zones.
Can we get the quest text looked at. Cause for how deep it is into the vah quest (not very) it would be kinda silly for it to just be a 'search every zone in dalaya and bring me back a poultice' hint.

Has anyone ever seen one of these Or am i just having retarded luck and not getting them to drop.

I have seen, with my own eyes, 'a burning poultice' drop at least twice so I can confirm it has dropped. Good luck with your hunt :)

Still doesnt change the fact that for being so early in the vah quest line its pretty retarded to have the only hint in the quest text to where it is, is 'search every zone in dalaya till you find one'. The npcs text should be looked at.

I would think it would be a bit more constructive to post the actual quest dialogue instead of demanding the it be looked at / changed. I never got that far in the quest so I'm curious as to what it says myself... also, if you're like me and you like to skim, you may have missed something the first time around reading it.

I dont see any type of zone suggestion there .. I mean if it is supposed to be a bottleneck and you have to search all of dalaya for the zone/mob then ok. But like if its from emberflow or something thats a bottleneck in itself and should just say that.

I've only heard rumours about where it drops. If the place I heard is the only place it drops, then I think the quest text should reflect that-otherwise, RNG could be owning us all-or we just plain old haven't been looking in the correct location.
 
Well, it looks like from the dialogue you posted that Yejhana specifically states that he/she doesn't know where it's from, so I don't think that's an oversight and was probably intended as-is upon implementation. Maybe one of the other guys in the camp has more information on it (trisky TM likes to do that!).
