The SoD economy

More like much love for impending inflation!

It's not like you're suddenly going to have twice as much money around, the change will be gradual and is unlikely to cause any sudden changes.

Ask germany, russia, croatia, and most latin american countries about making more money and sending it into the economy

I will be jacking up cash drops across the board the next patch. We'll see how things work out.

Good to hear. If it's too much, there will be a nerf anyways...
EDIT: lets call that an adjustment.

- Increased coin drops across the board, particularily from level 60+ mobs.

Patch notes.

I am glad for the changes, but why particularly on 60+? The entire point I was making and so many others reinforced was that the low to midrange was the real issue. I am really happy for all the raiders that will benefit from the particular attention they are getting, but it wasn't that crowd that had the issue, was it?

The only people that didn't really have a problem making money were 65 250+ AAed raiders past NDHK/planes and tradeskillers that reached max first. Making 60+ mobs drop more coin allows groups to make more money without allowing say level 55 people to farm for a charm :[

Ok there is alot of sense in that. But are the mobs that are 60+ got the bonus plat or is it for toons that are 60+? In which case the mobs would be in the low to mid 50's.

The patchnotes already say mobs 60+ got the biggest bump, while lower mobs also got a nudge up.

i figured it would be the low end that would get the up. Since there are so many items on market, farmed typically, that upping lower end coin drops would give low end people means to buy these items giving the money to those above them. It would take the saturation of items off the market and stop the slide of prices but it still wouldnt solve the issue completely since you couldnt up the low end to much, since higher level players would just farm the money. Very hard to find balance. its going to take time to find what right its patience thats the key essence here.

Also on thought before i pushed the post button. adding money to the upper ends makes them not have to farm items also taking them off the market but it still doesnt help the low end attain the items. (where i think a lack of money is/was.) Since you level so fast at the low end its hard to make money. a good group can take someone 10 levels in a day low end and you might only see 10 - 150pp from it. not enough by any means to outfit.

I'm somwhat surprised that we could simply quantify the "low-end" people. As if we could say, newbies are broke and I don't think they should be...

The facts are, newbies are broke because they have low level characters, who can't generate money because they just aren't big enough. If they want more money, it's not that difficult on this server to level up. Anyone remember when live came out? 65 was nigh unnatainable. It's a lot easier for a newb to go and farm 400 plat and buy a reznolaw fang than it is to kill reznolaw. So, if a newb wants to be a newb with a reznolaw, he's probably going to have to make some sacrifices xp-wise to do so.

The point is, the economy wont be screwed up in this game unless it gets to a point where you can NEVER get as wealthy as the elite are. This is not the case, so stop worrying about it. Low-end characters don't have a lot of stuff because they haven't played as much as the high-end characters. Or possibly they spent time farming smaller stuff and not a whole lot of time getting xp, and have fallen behind and missed opportunities to join the higher ups on the big loot.

If you want to get to the point where you are happy with your current economic state, simply go for experience as much as possible, and eventually you will be big enough of a character to have other people want you in their party.

Well put, my friend.

That's one of the main points though. Newbs don't have money (Whether because they haven't leveled up, or whatever) so a lot of the items higher levels farm in hopes of selling to them never get sold based purely on the fact that they'd rather save their money for a bigger upgrade.

..isn't that the noob's fault then?

I don't see a problem here.

If there is a lv30 newbie who can pump out 600plat a hour like me at lv 65, do tell for I would like to meet them. Maybe 600 gold per hour is more like it.

But regardless, in essence, yes it is the newbies fault. He should farm gold for a year to buy what he needs/wants IMO, not be lazy about it. No mercy, I say.

On a more serious note, at least for the really good stuff out there that's droppable(ex: shark hide cloak) it really should depend on being lv65 to farm up the money for it. While newbies will drool over such gear and all, that's the nature of how the game is played.. no matter the game. You start out real sucky, and you get better as the levels go by, and you won't have the best gear until you're nearing max level.

I'm really starting to become afraid that this thread will never end, and I am making a point to watching it now that I've posted. Wiz, would it be too much to /trash this thread? I'm fairly certain all possible points have been covered and there's just no use talking about it further. Just my 2cp.

Don't read it if you don't want to see it.

let us see how the new plat system is working out before we make any new comments about the economy.
