Suggestions for Rebuilding Felwithe

Faldeney

Dalayan Beginner
Jayelle has requested that I begin a thread specifically for taking suggestions for the rebuilding of Felwithe. Please post your ideas and possible locations so that we may be able to create a list.

1.)I would like to begin by suggesting we create a repository for all of the arcane knowledge and histories that we will begin to uncover in the forgotten city. I propose we build this repository in Northern Felwithe in the area that we spoke to the Guardian, Athica.

2.)Supplies and other merchants will also be crucial to draw in adventurers and workers from afar. Placement of these is not so important as their presence.

Please post any other ideas.

Your Humble Servant,

Faldeney
Wizard of The 57th Dalayan Rotation

1) Rename the city Athica, after its guardian spirit which protects it from the Mists

2) Make it bindable

3) Add a banker

4) Add a pair of guards at the entrance (RP: to keep out Baldekos and our enemies, though no other city guards have managed that feat)

5) Add a general merchant

The prophet came into cult chat and called for a meeting in WBL this evening, and he spoke to us about rebuilding and moving on. We ported over to Felwithe and came across some skeletons. They killed a few of our people, and suddenly a voice spoke. It told us to leave, that it was protecting the High Ones. She said they created her as a means to protect the city, and that she was awaiting their return. She asked us to bring a High One to her, but when we did she did not recognize him. She was saddened by the fact that we had no knowledge of her. She told us her name was Athica. She would not believe the truth that we spoke. Athica summoned the bones of the dead, and they confirmed we did bear the truth. She then agreed to allow us to rebuild the city, and I was appointed the Mayor. We shall name the city "Athica" in rememberance of her, and her story. We will join together and gather resources in order to do so, but we first need to agree on what will be added Athica first.

It has been suggested that we add:

* 2 entrance guards -- Completed
* a roaming guard -- Completed
* a guard -- Completed
* Inn of Athica -- Completed
* Athica Armory -- Completed
* Athica City Office -- Completed
* a bank (banker included) -- Completed
* a general merchant -- Completed
* a blacksmithing merchant -- Completed
* a jewelcraft merchant (requires building reconstruction)
* a tailoring merchant (requires building reconstruction)
* a fletching merchant (requires building reconstruction)
* a pottery merchant (requires building reconstruction)
* an alchemist merchant -- Completed
* a smith's forge -- Completed
* a pottery wheel -- Completed
* Kabre's Bar -- Underway
* Temple of Dominion -- Underway
* a healer -- Underway
* a postmaster -- Completed
* a translocator -- Completed
* a lorekeeper/library
* a fishing merchant that is open at night -- Completed
* populate the pond for fishing -- Completed
* a port neck quest -- Completed

If you have additional suggestion please post them here.

I feel that we should Add BlackSmithing Merchants, as I love Blacksmithing.

Also, would it be considered a PRoject to Make the newb area safe? Like removing the Ancient Darkwoods, etc?

Just so that everyone knows how the SoD staff are doing this, Wiz said the city will become a Bearers of Truth run city. We will discuss what things the city needs and then Jayelle will request them formally. The staff will then give us some level of task in terms of money and/or material that we have to donate (i.e. give to Jayelle to give to Wiz) to make it happen. What gets built and when is up to us, subject to the limitations the staff imposes.

Now that I'm more or less up to speed(as much as i can be considering that I don't have a client on my box right now) I have a few suggestions of my own.

please keep in mind all of these assume that they're both possible and more or less easy to implament.

1. Two guards, prefferably at the enterance of the city or somewhere thereabouts(afterall, or so i've bene told via pm, the city itself is protected, but nothing about outside the city walls).

2. Post Office

3. Basic supplies merchant(food, water, you know, same as every other supplyer offers)

4. A Bank!

5. Make the city Bindable(possibly only to those in the Bearers of Trueth Cult).

I realize a few of these have already been suggested but I only wish to add in my support for adding in what i view are the essentials. Now then with these five out of the way(if we're allowed to add more to the big list of things we would like to see) I have four others that I see as, while not being essential, nice to have.

6. Add in a pottery wheel and smith's forge.

7. Two trader NPC's. One that sells either potions or materials to create potions.

8. The other trader NPC would sell material for low to mid level tailoring(for the sake of conveniance, that and when you sell all those hides they've gotta end up somewhere...).

9. One of those temples that allows you to remove a soul debt.

I'm not suggesting Guard NPC's since I don't know wether or not the guardian spirit still exists or if she(it?) was banished or died with the transition of the city.

I fail to see the pressing need for a translocator myself. Travel is important and I would say in the second wave the translocator would be great, but the basic neccessities are more needed. You have ports, translocator (underhill), and a boat that are all within running distance. I would say gaurds, basic merchant (or 2), banker would be the first NPCs on my list.

Not sure how feasable this would be, but I reckon it'd be a nice touch to have a portcullis or what have you on the gate. This is assuming that doors/bars are objects and can be moved and loaded...If not then *shrug* I dunno.

Wiz said that a Translocator was doable but would require a lot of effort, I'm not sure if he meant codewise or in what they would demand from the players to make it happen. Either way we might want to go for the low hanging fruit first, since the Underhill TL is reasonably close by.

I would think that it would be in terms of player cost. Translocator's already exist in the game so I doubt the code is an issue (just a matter of adding another option to the list).

I was having someone make them, but Dundrey is going to do it. He's part of the cult so you might as well just say its him.

All i can honestly tell you is that after I can get back in the game I'll do what i can to help, either through donations, or with backpack crafting. Hoping this'll be by the end of this week, but I'm not too sure really.

A few people gave me donations in the form of pp tonight and I know I forgot to post one or two of them to give them credit where it is deserved. Please send me a PM with your name and the amount donated if I have forgotten to add you to the list.

If any additional funds or ressources are needed, I will be glad to provide them within reason. Additionally, it is vital that we acquire a means of transportation to the city from anywhere in the world, similar to the Amulet of Newport.

Donations are always welcome! We will continue to need them as we make more plans to reconstruct Athica. What/how much is completely up to the individual to decide.

As for the Amulet to Athica idea, I think it is great! It has been one that was mentioned a few times in cult chat. I will look into what steps we need to take to implement this as a quest. I think it would help create more traffic, and in essence promote more outsider (non-BoT) contributions and support.

What items, in general, other than tradeskill materials would be seen as valuable controbutions. I was thinking of buying up spells in preperation for eventual guilds/castermerchants, or would that be a waste of time?

Also should we think of hording any peticular dropped gemstones/items for latter development? Oh and yes eventually having a port necklace would be very welcome to have, granted the quest would have t obe fairly hard and probably revolve either around strengthining the construct that, I presume anyway, is still within the city, or possibly some other major service of lasting impact.

Thoughts on these?

At this point I am not sure what will be needed for future reconstruction plans. The process, as I understand it, is this: We decide on what we would like (IE: next item on the list is to build a bank and populate it with a banker or two), we submit our idea to Wiz, he says yay or nay, and if approved he will tell us the resources/pp needed to move that idea from "planned" to "underway." He then updates the Felwithe Reconstruction sticky accordingly.
