SoD 2.0 - What's going to happen

seems to me that the tanking changes is to offset the CH one. just my opinion. Everything looks like it will solve the problem of finding groups that could actually use your class. thx Wiz :dance:
 
I guess SoD1.0/WR will be nothing but a memory soon. Now, we get to play on a server with the same 'gameplay features' as many other emu server's out there. whoopie.

It's a shame to see it end this way, with a pandering to 'certain people' that has always happened. But hey, it's free, right?...!

why change 1.0 to 2.0 if your not gonan work on malath? i thought malath wasn't gonna be added to but kazul would be the main server?

i am completely confused your changing SoD 1.0 to kill it? cause atm lots of people are about to just say forget it

Yeah, damn Wiz. He sure knows nothing about the welfare of his own game, and especially loves to screw with us! It's free? Not good enough; he owes ME for the all that grueling time I put into this game so I can finally raid.

Seriously though, I'm curious about your plans to attract more players, and a rough estimate on when you'll be executing them.

Since Malath is getting the 2.0 ruleset it will not get any kind of freeze. Stop assuming things that are not in this thread.

thats why i asked.. cause it wasn't clear on previous stuff you said one server would get no new content really.. thats why i asked

still makes little sense switchin 1.0 to 2.0 but oh well will be dumb and play anyways hehe

not that SoD won't be SoD.. more like raiding won't be raiding anymore.. its just 3 groups killin everything not epic raiding. And the fact alot of long time SoD/WR people are gonna be quiting over this maybe another reason someone would think SoD won't be SoD anymore
 
Raiding will be a lot more interesting with smaller forces, you can make fights more complex

Every fight will be like Gharontosh/cmal4!

36 man raiding is not epic. Epic is beating the odds with heroic people, not being a cog in a machine.

well we each have our opinions of raiding are.  Just sayin raiding isn't raiding anymore its a few grouping stuff.  It will also kill guilds and population.  Thats the main prob i have. the idea is good IF it wasn't put into a big raid enviroment without pollin people before sayin THIS IS HAPPENING.  Whether or not you want others opinions (since its your server) just a pr  aspect would have been better to ask for opinions first.

I just see lots of drama (fighting for zones) bugged flagging, bugged encounters etc.

Let's see 18 man cleric raids then. that's really beating the odds.

18 man general raids are still "cogs in the machine", just at half scale with new strats to compromise for lack of numbers..

Well, it's a good thing you don't get to define what raiding is. I've gone over multiple times the simple fact that the server is already dying with the old apparently perfect 1.0 model. I realize people will quit over this, I'll deal with that fact because it will lead to a better server.

I really don't even remotely get why people think that 36 man raiding is somehow a necessary part of "old school EQ", particularily since the original game wasn't even supposed to have forces beyond a single group.

like i said 18 man is a good idea. But now guilds will have to trim numbers some won't want to and will die cause of it. And 1.0 wasn't dying that i saw.. at least 3 guilds were activly raidin everyday. was at like 360 people at peak times til lthe announcement. Then doesn't really get over 250.

I will play regardless but with the amount that will quit or thinking about it.. i may need to find a new guild and leave friends behind.

You really haven't been paying attention or seeing only what you wanted to see. Player numbers have dropped since the announcement, but they were already dropping - we had a max of something like 300 since several months back, and a huge amount of people were quitting over being stuck and being unable to progress. You were part of the winners under the old model, congrats, now realize that it made you see things from a winner's perspective.
