Should SoD allow Zhak to return to SoD?

Hello, most of you know who I am, Zhak and Podge.. formerly of Forsaken and Legacy.

I'm writing this post today in response to a conversation I had with Wiz about myself being unbanned. He said that the staff is torn and he's really not sure what to do. It was discussed that if he just unbans me that it's going to look like the bans don't carry any weight and anybody can be released back to SoD after they've been banned for a while.

Wiz has made it very clear that one case of myself trolling anyone in irc, trolling anyone on the forums, talking shit about the staff etc that I'm done for, I've used my 9 lives and my get out of jail card already and this is my last chance.

If I am let back, these are the strict rules that I am going to have to follow, a pretty different Harney than the one that most of you are probably used to. Most of us enjoy SoD in many different ways, I've got lots of friends and guildies and experiences put in to this server over the 5~ years that I've played this. I've been here since the beginning and it's a place I've called my mmorpg 'home' for a long time now.

I've contributed quite a bit to the server as far as time goes with helping develop, test, brainstorm, give feedback etc to the staff. I've also been a platinum donator for well over a year, I'm one of ( if not the single largest ) the biggest donators on the server monitarily, I'm not trying to buy anyone's decision but it does show that this is a place that I truly enjoy and want to give back to.

Most of my troubles have come from my big mouth and my obsession with competition and being better than everyone else, but as you can very clearly see for yourself at the rules outlined by Wiz above, it's not the same person that you're going to see if I'm allowed to play SoD again.

Most of you who got to know me or who were guilded with me or even talked to me on a regular basis know that I am a pretty friendly guy and that I just take a bit of time to get to know.

I'm asking for ( the majority ) of the community to accept my request to be allowed to play SoD again.
 
Honestly I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be let back in if Wiz is okay with it. His word is basically law around here, and while you've had quite a few chances in the past, talking with you lately I realize that you really want to come back to SoD, and you seem different than before. Hopefully others can see this too.
 
With Zhak back, there will be more pharming for my 1mil and there will be hardcore items throughout the server!


Actually, Zhak's a really nice guy. Back when I was in Ruin, he was a major psyduckface but now that I'm in the #1 guild, he's cool. :toot:. Seeing Zhak back would be good for the server. Lower level people would be bale to experience high-end exp zones since they help with npc nameds! Also, being that he is one of the best geared characters on the server, why should he not be able to play. He's put so much hard work and time into his character, it sucks to see him sit there.
 
If harney holds to these promises I don't see why he shouldnt be given another chance.
 
I agree, he will be on a very short leash with these rules he has to follow. I personally would like to see him back, I hope others would give him a chance.
 
Even though i dont really like the guy too much, i can understand if he was just frustrated when he flammed the staff and what not. Being a competitive person can cause you to do some things you dont exactly mean, we all know this. Maybe zhak isnt always the nicest guy, but i dont think dalaya is the same w/o the uber players who push the envelope and try new and (to some) amazing things. I support him being unbanned.

Sounds fair to me. I wasn't around when he was banned, but it's hard to go too far wrong with those rules. At worst, he just gets rebanned.



P.S. will it be allowed to bait him in ooc/irc/threads? /snicker
 
If Harney will stick to these rules I think he should be given another chance. He's great to play with and I'd like to see him back. I miss teasing fatty~

From my limited experience Zhak is a nice guy overall - he just carries more of the "part-time jerk" then most of the others. If he's however able to stick and follow those rules I don't see a problem with unbanning him. There are always some cases in which exceptions should be made and I believe that Zhak is one of those cases due to his past and loyalty to the server itself.
 
Sorry, but I gotta say no on this deal. IMO you indeed did have 9 lives and then some. I'm going to say it the best I can.. you can't sit there and be a spoiled brat with special treatment, get let off the hook time and again, to finally be banned like you deserved, then turn around and go, "oh but I'm a new man I swears to the master I won't be bad anymore and I didn't know you were really serious about that banning stuff." The rules just don't work like that and if it's bent for you then it should be bent for the other what? 50 or 100 or 300 people before you that were banned for far more "simple" reasons.

I don't hate you Zhak. I don't even care enough to like you or dislike you. But you got your chances. Whether you claim you're a new man or not.. I'm sure you'd be just as good as can be if you did come back. But what's done is done. Don't pull a Paris Hilton, hold on to what dignity you have left and just say goodbye. I can just imagine being bad in life and after I die go up to the almighty and say ohs but I didn't know you were really serious about that hell stuff please gives me another chance masta.

I really am a second chance sort of guy. I believe in forgiveness. But I'm also a lawful person. Just.. you had what? 5 chances? 10? I think you burned the bridge down. Maybe it's a very good thing it's not up to me whether you come back or not, huh. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Seriously though, a hell of a lot of people deserve a second chance if Zhak is going to get yet another chance. I'm not sure what number he's on really but I will just assume somewhere around his 10th chance now. I hear what people are saying but you're forgetting the issue here, what it means to let Zhak back. It means saying it's okay ole chap, we're sure you didn't really mean to break the rules and you're a nice guy afterall so welcome back and good job on more special treatment. In essence, Zhak gets away with breaking the rules again and this time it's insult to injury. I don't know. I just can't give a thumbs up on this deal. /shrug. For what it's worth I'd say yes to zhak before I ever would to someone like Atrus.
 
I'm all for zhak coming back. I never talked to the guy personally, but to ask for forgiveness in front of the whole community is one. Two, he "is/was idk" the #1 monk, and that takes alot of time and effort. to let all of that go to waste is horrible, but thats just my two cents.
 
Just to clarify on how many 'chances' I've had. I was originally banned over 4 years ago when I was around level 51 because I was obnoxious and Melwin and Wiz didn't like me. The other time I was banned was because of my actions on a different EMU server ( never on WR / SoD ) and Wiz was suspicious and banned me from WR.

If we're talking about any history within the last 2 years, I've been jailed exactly twice.. one was for saying something perverse in OOC and I cant exactly recall what the second was one for. I've never exploited or trained or cheated in any way in game.

Pretty sure you were just joking with this, but I'd say a fairly strict punishment is in order for people that try to bait people like that too. At least that's the way I feel about it.
 
I say let him start with a clean slate, i.e. a new account.

Then, when he gets his new untwinked character to a respectable amount of aa's without causing trouble, give him his old accounts back.

I can't care less if Zhak gets unbanned or not (never had any problem with him, so why not?).

But to discourage other people from doing his wrongs/ quell doubts that he can continue unpunished/ prevent him from doing some bads/ keep him busy, he could be striped of some hard-to-replace part of his gear: his Charm. :toot:
