Ranger Starfall Quest

I recently started my quest for the Girdle of Lightning.

By recently, I mean almost 8 played hours ago. Almost 8 hours of camping the insane brownie, and no drop.

In the meantime, I killed the Bard starfall mob of a similar level nearby, which drops the quest item every time.

I think something needs to be done to address the drop rate on the sash from the insane brownie. When compared to the time investment required by other classes to complete their quests, it seems totally out of balance. I had a shaman friend tell me he finished his earring quest in 30 minutes. The brownie RESPAWNS every thirty minutes. Either the mob needs to be made to drop either the mage staff or ranger sash every time (50/50 chance of each), or the spawn time on the brownie needs to be lowered.

Additionally, rangers occasionally have to compete with magicians for the brownie camp. True, it's easy to just team up since the drop is different for each, but some players are uncooperative and refuse.

In my twelve kills so far, I've seen two Earthen Staves for the mage quest. Twelve kills, twelve great staves, two earthen staves, and zero stormwind sashes.

btw, just because one part of the quest drops comes easily (guarunteed) doesn't mean the rest of it is.

I gained about 3-4 levels in Badlands hunting for elephant guts for bard starfall, and I was killing lblue and greenies :(

Do you get it from one elephant on a 30 minute respawn? =P

I understand that each quest has one easy piece, one sure thing, and one rare piece. I just think the rare piece for rangers and mages is a little more of a timesink than it should be.

By the way, I finally got the sash on my 15th insane brownie kill.

To be honest, elephants aren't that common in SBadlands, and the drops are far more rare than that even. At least you have the advantage of knowing exactly what mob your stuff drops from, and being able to watch the spawn. I had to wander from one edge of the zone to the other searching for elephants that never dropped guts, and it took me weeks :/

In any case, grats on finally getting it. :)

I read this post, but I couldnt help but think how the ranger range item was not brought up? To me, that item is a bigger problem than the camping of the insane. Any devs ever comment on that nice ranger item? :p

I think I spent 6 to 8 hours camping the drops in mielech for my Wizard starfall. This particular camp required a group, since we had to break 2 or 3 sets of 2 and 3 mobs each, all casters. Admitably, it was a fun camp, great xp, and a nice robe drop that I am still wearing at 65. However, it took 6 to 8 hours of grouping to get the two drops I needed.

Other wizards were able to get both drops in 30 minutes in the same camp. They got lucky, I was very unlucky. Just to rub salt in the wound I was passing through the other day and nuked them for old times sake. Both pieces droped in 30 seconds, and there were no wizards nearby to use them.

8 hours is a pain, but well worth it for the item you will get as a reward, and not that far from what other classes have gone through.

Look at Necro Face Starfall "Eyes of the Dead".
You need to kill a triggered mob with a 30 Mins respawntimer and PH's with the same respawn.
Same counts for Ancient Book Case - "Ghostly Librarian" in kaladim, 30 mins timer for Mob and PH's.

This will really drive you mad, you have such things on both Starfalls, I needed ages to get them.
Congrats on your starfall, just be patient ;)
