Race/Class Restrictions

So basicly this idea is to make it possible to have any race be any class, like a Gnome Shaman, an Ogre Paladin or a Troll Druid? (and many many other combinations).

And then you say,

.... my only request is that you don't start talking about how you would want a race change if this happened because honestly nobody cares and it just makes you sound like a dink.

So you want the option to select any race to any class when making new chars, but if someone wants a race change from there current char, they are "a dink"?

I looked up Dink, not really sure what it means, here is some of what wikipedia suggested:

Dinks, group of munchkin-like characters in red robes in the 1987 movie Spaceballs.
Military slang for a recruit in training, "Desperately In Need of Knowledge".

Semi-Hypocrisy and odd words aside, i like how we use the clients rules for what race can be what class, and i really like how if you gather enough fame, you can ask for a race change on your current char.
That goal may be next to impossible for most people; so be it, the best ones makes it happen.

Also i think it takes a long time to create a char already as it is, having to use a heap of commands, and then you accedently go to Talons instead of Bloodfire, oh shit gotta re do that....

-1 from me to this idea, the current way of making chars, and what races can be what class's + the fame option to change race, i like.

I guess I can forgive your derail given the circumstances but you misunderstand, I was just saying people who would derail this thread with stupid pointless stuff that adds nothing to the conversation are dinks.

Oh and I am sure that race changes via fame would still be left intact.

That would cause the dwarf necromancer to kill himself. No, he wouldn't then become undead, because the undead can't get drunk. He just do himself in the right way.

One benefit would be the potential to make race/class restrictions on items more interesting and meaningful.

One downside would be the potential loss of meaning for race/class combos. For instance, it makes sense lore-wise that shamans come from races (or subsets of a race) which are more tribal. "Human shaman" just brings up images of new age hippies.

Also, more min/maxing on racial bonuses =(

I'm going to add ogre wizards to beta for Slaariel to giggle at.

Remember when all the cool guys on the beta agreed that vah shir would be alot better if they were just mushroom men... Remember???... guys

Yeah I think Frogloks, Erudites, Iksar and Vah Shir are the only playable races that aren't human off-shoots.

Erudites actually are human offshots - they are descendants of wizards that failed a coup to overtake freeport and had to run for their lifes.

Oh I was just going by the MQ books which leave it nebulous. That is way less interesting than I was hoping (no offense to whoever decided on that lore).

That was Wiz himself.
Wiz says, 'Approx 2300 BF - A coup instigated by human sorcerers to overthrow the monarchy fails. Most of the instigating cabal are executed, but a few escape to found their own society. They name themselves the Erudites.'
