Monk Tome

How about in addition to reducing cooldown, or instead of, mend also replenishes endurance? Although when/if monks get changed like warriors it might need to be reevaluated.

I've always felt like monks deserved some sort of bonus thingy or doodads or goodness to things they already have.

Like every time that they used mend it provides maybe 10% mitigation for 3 seconds (tome?)

With the potential (hopefully) warrior-style rework of monks, maybe leave /s 1, 2 and 3 the same with the caveats:
Being in aggressive stance gives the monk +3% overhaste
Being in defensive stance gives the monk +3% mitigation
Being in normal stance provides +1.5% overhaste and mitigation?

I think there should be a little more flair to make sense as to why a monk would be in certain stances. I feel like there should be a reason a monk should be stanced. Like it's some sort of chakra thing where if you're in a fighting style it gives you a bonus in some regard. As it stands right now there's hardly any reason to be in any stance other than /s2, /s9 or /s 14

Monk stances are pretty solid compared to a few other classes. /s 6, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15 all have situtations to be useful imo. Even the proc stances are fun to play with when your still new. The only bad ones are /s 8 (i guess would be ok for duels maybe?) /s 10 (actually a fight or 2 where this one is useful but not very many) /s 7 and /s 13 (same ones bsts complain about).

Biggest issue with monk stances is that none of them are a substantial single target DPS improvement, ie monks have no "burn phase" stance really. The triple damage with twohander one can be sometimes, but it just makes you even more RNG-dependent which sucks.

Monk stances are a collage of situationally useful, useless, and useful but the sta drains blows balls stances. Only one stance really justifies the terrible sta drain. As for the rest a highend "on all the time" stance similar to vindicators would be good and making the rest situationally useful or nonexistent would be swell.

Many classes have no real way to burn outside clickable items like Vah Shir banner, and for casters things like the hour+ reuse timer items with Fulmination, Chaotic Destruction, Focused Channeling.

I disagree. Rogues and warriors have abilities/stances that provide burst DPS and they are pure melee classes like monks. Casters get swarm pets, assorted AA cooldown abilities, certain spells. Beastlords get a short duration +50% damage stance, rangers get a double shot stance I believe, SKs have their harm touches. Monks have absolutely nothing to compare.

I'm all for giving monks better stances or just revamping it like warriors, but idk about other classes really having burn stances.

The rogue/ranger stances are similar to monk tripple damage (although admittedly they are a bit stronger).

Beastlords get no worthwhile dps stance period (unless this just changed)

Swarm pets are kind of a joke past t1, and I'm not really aware of any caster AAs that provide burst dps. Casters can chain nuke, but in most situations that is what we are already doing. My burst is from clickies and maybe absolution if i want to dump all my mana pool.

I'd love to see an entire revamp of sta systems for monk and rog, but I honestly think monks have more useful stances than most classes.

Beastlords got a +50% damage stance recently.

Rogues /s 6 is increased damage and accuracy, and they also have a stance that doubles their damage but exhausts them.

None of the monk stances are anywhere near those in terms of improved DPS, and most are equivalent to /s 2 so there's no reason to use them.

I thought 15 was better than 2?

If not, maybe just make tripple damage not such a crazy sta drain. Its not a huge damage bonus, so having it last some decent amount of time seems reasonable?!?

Half of what 15 gives you is avoidance. It's kinda comparable to 2 in that you gain accuracy, but lose the attack speed 2 gives you. I personally only use 15 on tank/aux tank situations or maybe an occasional striking curse.

15 is a bit better than 2 most of the time, but by a matter of a few percent. I've been using both while exping and s15 parses within the normal range of s2. Looking through a list of fights it's impossible for me to point out which ones are s2 and which are s15.

Triple damage only works with a twohander, and the only twohander that does anywhere near Horok's damage does a substantial amount of it's DPS via a proc so I doubt extended duration on that stance would make it worth using.

Revamping styles or especially making a new endurance system is a terrible idea that none of you could ever possibly be happy with.

Also, reducing the reuse on Mend is not possible because it is a non-AA client button.

We love you Zae. Quit being frustrated by unappreciative people that lack social skills....

(not even sure I'd personally be down with a revamp...just sayin...)

What about a monk tome that caused clicking mend to apply a hot with some bonus effects? like 200hp/rank for 3 tics and spell/stun immunity?

I must say that no matter what, if anything, happens, I'm pretty down with the monk tome discussion not just being another dps deal. If something does happen it would be awesome if it addressed the tank and/or puller side of things (and by no means am I saying we need any kind of tank boost at all).

I don't think a good measure of efficacy is by evaluation of complaints placed on a forum. Perhaps see how it changes game-side. Perhaps offer a select few (of individuals who know their class(es) well) a shot at beta testing the proposed changes. Then when enacted, perceive how the changes affect class popularity and how gameplay changes. That seems like much better quality assurance, and just good game design.

Sometimes things may be absurd in theory but just plain fun in practice. There's no way to know until you put them into effect.

I'd say that almost everything you have proposed to help make classes more dynamic have been great ideas Zae and it is a shame they won't be put into practice because you get butthurt over a few people attacking you for threatening to alter their pixels.

As one of the most active rogues on the server i welcome any change to our styles your brain can muster.

I don't keep up with the Jones', but I felt like the warrior changes were amazing. I can't imagine the game the way it was before them. While I'm sure any change would be massively welcome on my part, I know you would make them balanced useful and fun. Judging by war changes anyway.
