About how many people does it take for one of them?

My numbers could be off since it's been awhile since we've tried any of the adepts, but most were taking around 10-14 players or so. The last one we tried, Maggot-Infested Corpse, took us down hard and fast, think I remember 12+ or so on that one. But I think that was a lack of a solid tactic and it was our first attempt at her/him/whatever.

Currently trying to gather people to kill Tarx, anyone willing to help, please log on and send tells to draelyn! We have 11 now

hey guys, Draknor's back.

I'm still level 34 and have been waiting for folks to sort of get their leveling addiction over with. I must admit I was a bit depressed that so many of those I thought dedicated members sort of shot ahead and threw our project to the side, but I am inspired by the newfound enthusiasm in this new crop of players. If you folks are willing...I'm betting I could set up a raid for Friday night at around 7 pacific.

That is, of course, if alathar's group hasn't already gotten things together in an advanced state. In that case I'd be quite willing to tag along with you guys.

Let me know what you think...if I get enough able hands, or if alathar gets his own thing together, we may still have a chance...to rock.

Yeahhhhh, Draknor's home! :toot:
I'll go ahead and explock once I'm in my last yellow bub.

Well, we managed to kill Tarx. The raid had 24 people, and one of the groups was a really twinked/experienced group...apparently Tarx has been changed so that his aoe hits everything. From his spawn point to the zoneline, you can't avoid it. From 24, only 8 people (or less) survived until the end; the only groups to survive at all were the ones with two clerics each in them. I'm not even sure in the end that the number of people made much of a difference, since the aoe took out a lot of people fast, and in the end we meleed him down with about 6 people, I think.

I'm not sure how I feel about about all of it (it was my first time trying to organize a raid)..it was a little disheartening since it took 5 hours in total (2 wipes), and even when we succeeded, a lot of people didn't get to really participate before being killed. I was told Tarx was a lot harder than he used to be, so I guess I should take that into account.

In the end, it probably would have worked the fine the first time (14 people) with a more normal mob (in that they don't aoe) and would have turned out a lot better. I guess all I learned from it is that Tarx shouldn't be tried without a group healer per group, plus healers for the tank. Also, it'll get really hectic with everyone flyying around.

I'm a lot more reluctant to try to get people to go for adept raids. Between wipes we'd have people dropping and afking, it took me an hour to get enough people, another half hour to get everyone together for the first try. About 30 or 40 minutes to retry after a wipe (people leaving/getting replaced). I understand it's normal, I just don't have the time to spend like I did when I was in high school. I was all for just being able to take down an adept for the adventure of it, but it dragged on far too long.

Long reflections aside, I'm not sure Flaahn and I are going to stay in range for the 35/36 adepts for very long. These are our first characters, so we would like to keep leveling, and it's easy enough to level on SoD that I'm not sure sure we'll still be in range come Friday. I do plan on making another character in the future when I've gotten a 65, to kill all the (lower) adepts. Sorry Draknor, if we're still in range we'll come, but it looks like it's still going to be up to you to organizie. :(

Well, I got together a group of 11 for Haunted Treant tonight, we made 2 attempts, one got him down to 78%, a quick regroup and a heal chain and we managed 50% before we all fell. Though our group was probably too low, our primary downfall I think was that I didnt realize that it was nighttime. That was what I believe was our downfall. The other was a lack of DPS. We had plenty of healers, and though their levels were low, I think we could have done it with faster damage. (We had 23 Cleric, 27 Shaman, 27 Shaman, 29 Druid, 31 Cleric for heals)
I'll probably be trying to level up, and possibly give the 32 Adepts another try. Some of the members of tonights raid mentioned they were interested in trying tomorrow night. Anyone who would like, post away. This time I'll be starting to look for people around 9pm CST.
Oh yes, thanks to everyone who came. You all were great.

yes alathar, it does take a long time to organize a raid, especially your first one. This was a big reason why so many of those I thought were going to stay with me leveled up and left us in the dust. It's pretty disheartening and I lost the will to organize raids for a while.

But it gets much easier to organize raids once you get a system down. The important part is to not start brining people to the raid area until you're sure you have enough people. They'll get irritated and impatient and leave after awhile, especially (and this was really the dealbreaker) because you're not a guild and they don't feel any real obligation to stick around.

Let people know you're starting one, and look for interested parties. Once you have enough people to give it a shot, start calling everyone over. This makes time go by a lot faster.

Also, know who you want in your raid and where to put them. You waste a lot of time yelling and asking for who is in a group and who isn't so just know who you want to be group leaders and who you want them to invite.

I'm gonna give a raid a shot on friday night, probably redmaw at first just to start things on an easy note. We'll see how that turns out.

I actaully planned for that Draknor, so the first setup went quite well. We didn't start convening until I had 11 people, and once we met up, it was only 30 minutes or so to get ready for the kill and then actually try. The grating part didn't come until after wipes. I can understand people leaving, that's fine with me; I immediately starting sending tells asking people in level-range if they wanted to come help us.

It seems just the waiting for the travel was a big factor. At 34 the closest transport is to NBL, and then a run through SBL. For the unsowed people, it would take a good 10 minutes to run through. Add in the fact that we're getting multiple people with different time schedules/needing ports and it takes a long time of poeple just sitting around. For instance, Redmaw is in the sea of swords. It's going to take forever for stragglers/pickups (if needed) to get threre, since some people will have to rely on boats (and be in goblinskull/freeport).

I almost deleted the last two paragraphs since I don't really want to be negative. I guess I'm leaving it in in the hopes that others will read it and understand some of the difficulties of pickup raids and be more understanding when we're actually sitting around waiting for more. There are a lot of nice raiders out there though. Everyone that stuck around to help with the Tarx kill was awesome, and I didn't get to thank some of them as much as I wanted.

I got to 36 yesterday, but that's still in range for redmaw. Count me in for tomorrow, I'll explock today when I get close to leveling. I'll ask Flaahn too...and maybe I can start recruiting before 7 pst (10 est right?) so that people are ready and willing when the time comes. How many do you think we'll need for Redmaw, and what breakdown of classes?

As sometimes happens, real life came up tonight, so I wont be able to try the lvl 32 Adepts. Hoping to catch back up to Draknor again so I can rejoin the "regular" group :toot:
