ok, i liked the wars.. because it didn't really effect you very much if you didn't want it to.. enemies taken over your exp zone? find another one, not too big of a deal.. theres lots of places to go

what i don't like is being forced to participate in this newest venture, this is absolute bullshit

What the hell are you talking about? Don't go if you don't want to. Nobody is shoving shit down your throat. Does DarkRot seriously hamper your gaming experience that much? Honestly, the absolute worst effect of this plague is that it's taking up one of your buffslots. It's like -10 attack. Oh noez, run away.

Poor you. Forced to be minorly inconvenienced so that we can advance the storyline.

Would you like a tissue?

you could have found a way to do it that didn't require every single person in the server to be inconvenienced

forcing people to play "your way" is not a good way to run a game

The entire server is essentially one giant exercise in playing the game "my way"

:what:

Did you think magic gnomes designed it and I just administer it or something?

He's not forcing you to do anything. You're free to stand around with DarkRot. It's not hurting you that much, if at all. And there are those of us who ARE fully willing to go cure this stuff without your help. Sit back, relax. Mourn the fact that you now have 14 buff slots instead of 15. And then shut up.

yes, thats exactly what i thought.. god i am so dumb

lulul insert ridiculous statement to prove point

this isn't a final fantasy game.. i shouldn't be forced to cure the disease to save the world, if i wanted that i would buy japanese games

again, if you wanted to you could have easily found a way to advance the storyline without shoving it down our throats.. most people who play on your server, really don't care about the lore

I still haven't grasped how he's forcing you to do anything. You have a disease. It's not affecting you. You don't have to find a cure at all. I'm going to do that. Quite a number of us are going to do that. You aren't being forced to participate.

Good for you. You're free to sit back while others cure the disease for you, but you're playing SOD, which per definition is a game which you're forced to play "my way", and that includes real, serverwide effects related to serverwide events and advancing the storyline instead of just having a static or "opt-out" world. That is my design philosophy, and if you don't like it, tough. Want a tissue?

When given the option to help fight The Hierophant and the Dark Rot, I was hoping there would be an option to help him as well for those of us who like being Evil as compared to Goody-Goody save the world from "evil".

Will there be an option for those us who who really don't want to help get the cure? Maybe it will change some people's minds about this whole event.

Here's the thing: There is probably never going to be a way to side with Kaezul. The game world just isn't built up for it. It should have been something that should have been implemented from the very beginning, with kaezul / non-kaezul splits to the world and kaezul should probably not be as overwhelmingly powerful either, if it was to work.

Maybe we'll include something like it with kunark, but for now, you'll just have to be evil AND against Kaezul (or at least you don't have any real way to help him if you're pro-Kaezul), which is far from unreasonable (The Blackscale are anti-kaezul, for instance). "destroy the world" evil is far from the only kind of evil, generally self preservation ranks pretty high on the list of things that evil people like.

Fair enough. Thanks for the explanation.

you're going to shoot me down for saying this, like you shoot down everything else.. but i really don't care, i know alot of people DON'T like this event, but they don't want to say anything about it

when i find an NPC and he gives me a quest.. this feels like it's my choice, this is something i can decide if i want to undertake in or not.. regardless of whether or not this quest is YOUR WAY, or that i actually have any choice in the matter in reality.. this still feels like it's my decision, i found this NPC, he's not really there, so it's still in my hands somewhat

when something like this disease happens it is out of my hands, it's not under my control.. i don't have a say in the matter and i don't like that, i don't play games to be someone elses puppet.. again, regardless of whether or not i actually have a choice in the matter.. i feel in this situation i have no control, whereas if i talk to an NPC i do feel that i have some control

for sure you've crafted this entire game YOUR WAY.. but that doesn't matter if i still feel like i have control of the situation, if i have that feeling then this is my game, and i want to play it.. when someone else makes my decisions for me, then this ceases to be my game.. and i cease to want to play it

Speak for yourself.

So don't play it. It's not your game, and I'm pretty happy it's not.

Okay. I'm still not going to change my entire approach to game design because it minorly inconveniences you. Sorry.

Just about every other MMOG on the market out there is utterly 100% static, SOD isn't going to join that crowd and neither will Dawntide.

do a better job of it.. make me feel like i have choices, i really fail to see the fun in a game that i know is playing me like a puppet

Right, because one event that you cannot immediately solve yourself is "playing you like a puppet". Are you always this melodramatic?
