No, just specifically the argument that I should change my entire game design philsophy because otherwise you might be slightly inconvenienced is not going to convince me.

If I was really as rabidly "force people to roleplay" as you're implying with your melodrama then wouldn't this server enforce being in character at all times?

You do have choices, you can even choose to play or not to play.

One of the things that most other MMO's out there, and even EQ1 never did was making an Online World truly feel like a World. Wiz has done a phenomenal job in actually making this server feel like a real and persistent world. Live may have had a few here and there scripted events, some of them I saw a few times over, but in the end when I finished playing Live, I never felt like it was an complete world from what we consider a world. Things happen in a world that are beyond your control, very similar to real life. The thing that makes this server so great is the lore, dedication, and custom events that the staff spend more time planning and writing, than it takes to act out or provide to the players. Why would you complain about something so minor and take the opportunity to embrace the chance to be a part of the evolving history of Dalaya? Enjoy the change of pace for once.

I'm just surprised he didn't imply that the reason they're not saying anything is because insane wiz that plays people like a puppet would ban them all or something.

How about the fact that you decided to speak for the majority of the server, the fact that you essentially called me unreasonable because I disagreed with your opinion, the fact that you played up the minor inconvenience of being diseased to seem like I was playing the playerbase like a puppet and not letting anyone make any choices for themselves, and then topping it off with dismissing everything I said with a handwave "yeah okay you're not going to listen to anyone with a dissenting opinion anyway"?

I'd call that pretty insulting.

When you start off a post with "this is absolute bullshit", why would you expect a nice, cuddly response?

Xar beat me to it. If this *minor* inconvenience to you as someone that doesnt want to participate REALLY bothers you that much.. maybe you should sit on the sidelines until it's done. Now that choice has been restored to you, do you feel better?
 
A) the majority of players just don't give a shit about MMO lore, and are here to kill big things, hang out with friends, and generally have fun doing it.. most don't know much about the world beyond general background, and certainly don't read the books in-game unless they are required (they sometimes don't even read them when it IS required /ooc main quest spoilers anyone?).. the reason you don't see this in this thread, is because RPers are quite rabid, and normal players really don't give a shit

B) if you can't see how being played by the game, rather than playing the game would be boring.. then theres not much more i can say about that, you just plain don't get it.. i've explained it, but apparently i'm ape shit crazy for wanting to do my own thing in a video game

Then go play somewhere you have to pay for it. You don't here. If you want to go kill things, you can pick up a PS2 pretty cheap on Ebay. If you want friends, hey! Get the **** offlline and talk to someone!

My guild is not full of RPers, yet they have the common freaking sense to ask WTF is going on, how it will actually effect them, when told not much, then hey, let's go do some Tmaps. It's not like this bloody dark rot is killing folks off left & right.

Being played by a game is probably the part I've liked the most. Again. If you want to sit & play mindlessly, go get a console & sit there. I've already figured out that you don't like roleplaying.... then why in the bloody hell are you playing a roleplaying based game?

Rule #1. It's Wiz's sandbox. Enough said.

EDIT TO ADD: You & your friends are not "most of the server".
 
You dont like the changes and all the effort put in to make this server better then find a new MMO. Getting mad over something like this is crazy. With the recent release of ToT, Sanctum, and MQ thats soon to come, this server is looking better and better everyday. I look forward to the war that will be taking place. And am amazed how Wiz and co. have made the server come to life like this.

Like I said, if you had started this thread out on anything resembling a friendly tone, you probably would have gotten a much nicer thread.
 
Is there any thing lower lvl characters can do? I mean, we are all in this world and we should all have some part? Even if it ment a supporting role. If this were the real world, the governement would be reasonsible curing, but we could go and join some group to help the cause. My firends and I really want to help, but we arent high enough lvls. Any reasponses?
 
God forbid that something in the world effects your character in a way that you can not control.

How unrealistic... this game is supposed to be REAL and IMMERSIVE and utterly in my comfort zone and control at all times.
 
Cristof, there are some items needed to help cure the dark rot. Check with the Healer in Athica to see what you might be able to provide. :)
