fishing

Hmmm...retarded riddle, eh?

Well, I look at it from this standpoint...

I've been on the server for over a year.
I've taken the time to level up (not PL), make friends, have fun, learn what I can, and not spam /shout, /ooc, or any other /chatmedium that I see (if it can be helped)
I've listened to others about the fishing revamp, and heard a few oddities here and there.
Yes, I've checked the Wiki, and made my own conclusions, though, I didn't exactly use it as my 'map to fastest skillup on the face of Dalaya'
I respect Wiki. I even throw a few things at Wiki. But I pride myself into those things that I actually figure out on my own, or with the help of trusted friends.

I had information, and you wanted it. You were offering 40pp and higher. I was offering FREE hints. It also gave me a chance to practice my literary creativity.

I know a few others had a bit of fun with my retarded riddle, and I enjoyed that aspect. By the way, the riddle also required a basic knowledge of a few Lore tidbits, as well as being higher than low level. Something I believe this server likes to encourage (in regards to Lore). Seriously, I've put some work into this, and I'd like it to not be in vain by just throwing it to the wolves. By work, I'll give an example. Just Sunday (Jan 1st), I was fishing for 15 hours...actively, not afk/macro'ing.... I made 3 new friends, I had quite a few discussions, and I learned that some people just want everything given to them. Say I have no life, say I i'm just hoarding info.... then think to yourself: Did I even reply to your begging? Was it I who was sooo desperate to have that information?

Tell me, what is a lower level going to do with treasure maps? You have time until they're useful. You'll need an average of level 55'ish to do them anyways. If you've got a higher main that you're just collecting for, ok, good and great. But if you're just looking for a quick buck, then please...figure it out yourself. Also, Baking isn't even in yet, so no real big rush there... As you've spoiled any kind of "special privelage"/"good job for extra thought on the matter", I'll say this...

At 117 (I had +10 at the time from items I was using), I started in Rivervale. Glowing Riverfish took me from that, to 156 in a matter of roughly 2 hours. Probably the biggest and quickest skill increase you will get with one particular zone, is my guess. Since you can now be sure, please....eat the fish, they're great! Now that that's all "in the public view", my guess is it may be rethought, and reworked.

But those are just my thoughts...please, make your own

(Btw, normally i'm pretty mellow...my apologies if you don't exactly apply here and think you've been targetted)

I had 200 fishing before and got some treasure maps and gave them to higher level people in my guild. We had a lot of fun recovering the chests and I wanted to get back to doing that as soon as possible. I don't really care about baking.

Also, it doesn't really matter now, I got to 156 in Oasis, without bothering with Rivervale.

So here's my question. Do you have to fish in rivervale at night to get anything other than fishscales?
I fished there about an hour from night time and didn't. I think getting masses of fish scales from fishing indicates your skill isn't high enough to fish the good fish.

I got to 150 at the Oasis pretty easy, but now I'm having trouble skilling up in SoS like someone told me you could. Can you really catch nurse sharks at this level?

Had a real rough time after 158, took forever to get to 160 or higher while in SoS. Bottleneck comes to mind but you will get past it just hang in there. Also wanted to say thanks to Klya for being helpful so unlike a Necro.

What gave you skill ups between 156-160 in SoS and has a better alternative to SoS been found for that skill level?

Swordfin Tuna did it for me...but at the time, as stated earlier, I had +10 to mods...so I'm guessing it will still help, just take a bit longer...though Yellow Angelfish may help too...

I believe Wrig can back this up, he was "stuck" at 158 for a little while

Also I don't suppose you can tell me where the fishing net can be found? The wiki lists it as a helpful tool but doesn't actually say where it can be picked up at.

Edit: Has anyone tried King's pass yet? I didn't see it listed on the wiki so I might stop by there see what I can catch. Also Felwithe is listed as "fishscales" but when I went to Rivervale pre 125 skill level all I got were fishscales so I might run by there too just to double check that's all I can get.

So far at 156 I've tried:

Eastern Wastes
Western Wastes
Faentharc
Oasis
SoS
Storm Sea
Siren's Grotto
Eldenal's Mansion (or however you spell it) - I only got fishscales here, will return later
Western Plaguelands
Frosthorn Coast
Wyvernfang Coast
All badlands
Everfrost
Stormkeep

I haven't tried Kaladim yet, that may be a place to try if you have IVU.
I also haven't tried Shadowdale, and I didn't try Great Divide while I was up there but I don't really have especially high hopes for it.

I also would like to note I haven't caught a single swordfin tuna or yellow angelfish at SoS, and the wiki says the min skill for those is 160. I may be inclined to believe it. I think maybe you guys caught them there because you had the early skill mod stuff on.

I caught tuna there at 160 (not including + fishing stuff), I think you need to spend more then 15mins in a zone to determine if it yields skillups because.. said too much.

If by Great Divide you mean that river don't bother it's not fishable. Kaladim A&B has an entry on the wiki so I assume that's a no go. The two places I listed in my last post were both busts. I'm thinking I just need to get the fishing net and then I'll be at a 159 skill technically which I hope is good enough for Tuna.

But the problem is Stefan and I are only at 156. The wiki says 160 which makes us wonder if fishing in SoS right now isn't a waste of time.

Sadly the Spear isn't Druid equipable and I have no idea where to get the net.

Edit: Stefan, got 157 in Wyvernfang as somone mentioned earlier in the thread. If I get the net that would be 157 (+1+2) would put me in tuna range. Also you're a rogue you can equip that crazy fishing spear though I never saw 'a fisherman' in starfall and the gnollfisherman didn't seem to have it though I suppose it could be rare.

All/All you say eh? Im gonna book over to starfall then. Thank you so much.

Yeah wyvernfang has baby swordfish which will get you 137 It's the only skill up I got there because on page 1 somone said they spent an hour after 137 with nothing.
