The new fishing is great, much more variety. and whilst I havent got too many skill gains yet, I am doing ok in moving my skill back up there. You can no longer fish anywhere ( dry land, the desert with no water ) you actually have to be near the water now ( wow ). You cannot fish while levitating...And the most annoying, you cannot fish while sitting...eek


Setup your hotkey for fishing. The new inventory helps a bit in getting the max out.

Most of you prolly know how to do this, but I thought i would put it down again just since fishing just changed. Also you prolly dont need that first /pause 115

Actually, it's the last pause you don't need.... when you "/pause xxx,/dosomething" the pause happens AFTER the dosomething, but before the next line (/bonk that-other-game-developer).
 
For the wiki, it'd also be great to add any skill gains gotten off the various fish, so we can see what ranges the various fish (and therefore zones) are good for. I'll add what I've found when I get home to my logs.
 
Yeah I fished up around 30 or so fish last night and didn't get a skill up. My level had been moved back down to 100 from 110 ish .

I tried in WBL and NNP.
 
I've gone about 56-80, and 101-110 in Sea of Swords. I think there are more lower level fish than the higher (skillups were much slower after 100), so I'm gussing there are better places than Sea of Swords post 100.
 
If its like mining then there just may be a lower chance of higher level fish overall. Even in the zones that have higher level fish.

I wish my fishing was at 110. I was at 199 before the reset /sob.

I tried fishing on Wyvernfang Coast since I fished there before but didn't find anything. Or at least it said "there is nothing here to fish" a couple of times. When it says that does it mean there is nothing at all? Or is it an alternative to "you didn't catch anything" and I should move a bit and try again?

I'm excited by the variety of fish, can't wait to start catching.
 
I hope everyone is saving their unique fish. When baking is put in there will be alot of people interested in them to get skill ups.

I found that I usually get that message when I'm not close enough to the water. The slope is steep enough in places in Wyvernfang that it may look like you're next to the water, but if you look down, you still have a few "feet" to go. I fished there yesterday and was catching some fish and getting some skillups (~ skill level 80). Check out the Wiki fishing page.
 
You can gain in Sea of Swords up to 136, because I just did. It is getting very slow though, anyone found a better place to train up?

Coldwater Musky 103-106 Then didnt lvl for about an hour

Frosthorn Coast

Red Snapper 107

Wyrvenfang Coast

Baby Shark various between 108-134 (the most skillups)

Baby Baracuda 111-128

Baby Swordfish 131, 135, 136 I never caught one of these before my 131 skillup.


Mareleena went to SoS and got

Baby Baracuda 112-129

Baby Shark 111-135 (most skillups)

Golden Starfish 111-118

Baby Swordfish 130-137
 
So no one's got above 137 then?

Do you think you could raise it above 137 at Wyvernfang? I may have to risk the run out there.
 
Mareleena was in Wyrvenfang for an hour at 137 (from SoS) and didnt skill up. I skilled up to 136 at WFC and i fished there for about an hour without a skillup. Think it is SoS TR 137 and WFC TR 136 or we just gave up too soon.
