Druid Pet vs Beastlord pets 54-58

/pet no taunt returns the message No longer taunting foes master

And I am pretty sure it works, b/c as a tank I can tell a difference in the rate at which the mage relic pet pulls agro with and without that being typed. But I could also be insane.

Pet taunt doesn't turn off.

You can test this yourself with a charmed mob. I'll use my necro's example.

I charm undead, and kite another mob, and it takes a long time for my charmed pet to steal agro. Whereas: My summoned pet will take agro very, very quickly if it starts engaging the mob at 50% health, from just my DoTs.

I like how taunt works, except for necros, because it makes kiting with your pet hard. However two pets the same level, with the same attack, and the same taunt success, you're going to get wonky agro no matter what. And that's what I believe the 'problem' with druid pet vs beastlord pet only is.

Information that would have been useful. . . some time ago.

Actually, I really did a thread search and couldn't find it, so the question is: is this going to be adressed any time in the future?

I know with the implementation of pathing fear kiting will be more plausible; however, it would be nice for some classes to also have the option of aggro kiting.

Don't quote me 100% on the taunt comment. I'm only stating that from my testing as a player. I haven't looked at coding, or anything. For all I know this could be intended. But taunt has a reputation for always having been a little wonky when it comes to pets.

Raherin has mentioned it before (or perhaps it was only in game). I have been under the same belief when using my pet, but haven't used it in quite some time so I can't recall any specific times.

I can't recall why I started a reply...I got sidetracked by making pizza for lunch and now I have no idea. Oh well.

This topic made it into OOC for so long that I decided to find a BL and duel.

I had my 55 pet vs. a 58 BL pet . The BL Pet took down my bear. The fight stayed within a few percent, the BL pet had 7% health when my bear died.

Both were self buffed including using my highest dmg shield and neither of us healed because we wanted to see the strength of each pet on their own with self buffs.

This is not exactly surprizing news, Griz. :p

Their attack is the same. Pet dueling is a very inacurate way of figuring which pet is 'best' because the odds of the pets dueling is rare.

If you take the damage shield off, the beastlord pet would win by a much higher margin. Usually in a group situation, all the pets will have the same AE group buffs. So the beastlord pet 'would' have most of the buffs the druid pet has. This is a little more ideal.

If you want to test dueling situations then this is suitable.
