Dragon / Giant aug.

Alright so first of all, i'm sure that this has been debatet a million times, and with good reason, cause this is a major upset for those affected.

Dragon / Giant aug going poof. The end of the potential perfect char.

I understand that this is the risk of giving out info. I understand that its only really stupid (or spitefull) people, who does this...

But so what... This game is for sure, also, about having fun building the perfect char (or atleast strife for it).
So why not just make a simple quest, to make up for the crime, of breaking the faction bound aug.
For example if your + giant aug is broken, go to Rymaz (make sure your not kos) and tell him of your mistake.
He then require you to go and get him great many dragon scales, or what ever, and eventually he will forgive you, and fix your augment.

Who stands to lose from such a quest?
Spiteful people?... I dont care...
The staff having to make new code, because of earlier mentioned stupidity or spitefullness? Ok, I can relate to that, but I really think that so meany people will be much greatful, even players who havent experienced it, but live in fear... Like my password used to be Dragonally...

Please reconsitter.

And no, this is not a cry post because I lost my aug, I still have it on my toons (*knocks on wood*), I just hope that SoD have progressed to a level where such a quest, could now be an option.

Thanks.

I was present when someone was boxing a dude and a kill caused the loss of an aug. It sucked and everyone there was upset that it happened, even though only 1 guy was boxing a dude. This was clearly an accident and not spiteful. I don't know if it was petitioned or how it ended up, but man it sucks. I feel bad for the dude that did it, and the dude who had their aug poof.

It takes a ton of effort to get the aug in the first place, so losing it is extra suck... I also think the aug *poof* should be able to be rectified by grinding back to ally and doing a hail. Personally, I've always hated when games don't let you make up for bad decisions or accidents.

This is the one major issue that I'm still amazed has never been changed.

With account sharing being such a prevalent Thing on this server, it has long been my biggest in-game worry that one of the 100+ people who have access to one of my characters with a giant aug will go and poof it, entirely on accident. The fact that no remedy to this situation exists, not even some sort of difficult faction quest to re-gain trust and get the aug back, seems like an oversight to me.

I've been there when someone was boxing someone's character and lost their dragon faction aug, twice in fact, and it's a horrible feeling knowing there is no way to replace the best aug in the game that you were just responsible for losing. In fact, I was responsible for it once as well, however thanks to guest lock the aug was able to be restored simply by getting the characters faction back up to ally. I've been told this is no longer possible, that even with guest lock the aug will now poof entirely.

Some sort of quest or fix for this would greatly alleviate the risk of handing out character logins to friends. This should not be something that you have to worry about, it's honestly just not good game policy.

I switched back and forth between ally dragon and ally giant several times before getting an aug and getting locked into my faction. Not that this resolves the issue, but I'm curious, if you get a giant aug and it gets poofed, could you switch factions and go get a dragon aug? Anybody know the answer? Mostly I'm just asking to satisfy my own curiosity and I don't really think this possibility impacts the issue at hand much one way or the other.

Thank you for even considering it, Taryth.

To relate a similar situation, many years ago when Goon Squad was in it's first real iteration, I was given access to a T4 monk by a friend that was on giant faction. This changed the whole dynamic of our guild, as this was before you could easily, if at all, buy your way out of tier 1/2. He served as our main tank until we were able to gear a warrior up, but in the process of gearing him we had not aligned with either giant or dragon faction as we were not even fully aware of what it meant.

While raiding one day in Stormkeep against a brutal tier 1 giant, I suddenly noticed that the monk's boots (Pilfered Dragonscale Boots) had vanished. It took us days to figure out what faction binding was, and once we realized what had happened, and that there was absolutely no way we could kill the dragon that dropped said boots, I felt truly awful. Suffice to say, his boots were finally replaced many months (years?) later when we were able to do DHK and the tragedy was rectified.

What I'm basically trying to get at here is, it was a huge pain and I felt terrible for what had happened to his boots, but in the end they were ultimately replaceable and the mourning was short. However, had he also had a giant faction aug, I would still feel like a complete asshole to this very day. I hope that explains my feelings on the subject a little more effectively.

OK, after talking it over, we'll allow people to re-do it. I will be putting this in over the next few days probably.

A few caveats!

- You need to gain Ally before replacing the aug. This won't be easy!
- Your patron, whether dragon or giant, will demand a monetary tribute from you. Only he will be able to tell you what that is. Oh, and then there's the matter of doing them a favor...
- If, somehow, you managed to gain ally to both factions (it apparently IS possible, but very hard), as soon as you complete ANY aug now (first or subsequent times), the opposing faction will be trashed. This was an oversight - it's not really an exploit per se so no punishment for doing it, but you will never be able to have both.

Anyway we could gain the ability to switch this Aug from T5 to a T2 or from a T2 to a T5? There are some characters that have to bank this aug simply because they have no where to put it. Thanks.

That's a totally different story - I am guessing there's not much desire to change it at this point.

Thank you so much Taryth and staff /bow
This is more than I could have hoped, little lost for words x)
