Yeah, IDK... if you don't like a shaman because you only 1) DoT and 2) heal... why do you prefer cleric?

For exp groups I find Hasrett a lot more interesting than Naoma, whether I'm playing one character or two. With Naoma I'm typically just healing and nuking. With Hasrett, I'm healing, DoTing, slowing, once in a rare while nuking, and if I were a sissy, I could even be slowing (I'm not, though... sissy!). Not to mention Canni'ing and A:SotB'ing. And managing a pet (hah yeah, right... like I ever give enough of a crap to summon a pet... but I COULD be doing that, if I thought my shaman was boring or lackluster =P ).

TBH I think your issue is probably more with the monk end of your duo than with the shaman, unless you're being really dull on the shaman. Paladin keeps the tanking end of stuff more interesting, what with using your blinds, stuns, self heals, group hots, and /s 5 whenever endurance permits. In a group situation, of course... duoing, you're probably just sitting there with atk on and the occasional Blessing.

Having played both shm and cleric I tend to prefer cleric as it's easier to box in a group and usually easier to find groups with as well. As for not using your shaman pet that's lazy and extra dps/offtanking that you could be taking advantage of, but oh well that's your choice to make not mine as for me I use both pets summon and right click thurg bp.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand...

I'm a shadowknight. My pet is worthless, my dots suck, I do bad dps, some of my skills don't cap at 250, but hey... I hold good agro and I somehow outparse bards :keke:
You wish, unless it's a 10 second fight with double harm touch :D. Bards are pretty good, but boring as of the melody changes.

The reason you out dps bards is becuase like necros are the only people that can parse bard dps is bards. their songs are all dots to the client so they show up only on the bards screen so while you may have them beat when they are auto attacking you arnt getting what they are singing.

Stop justifying bards parsing 50.

I have to agree with Hasrett actually. When you realize how much dps your dots can do, you also begin to realize how insignificant your main pet's 20-40 dps is. And, forget the offtanking with the pet, just do it yourself with some chain Torpor/Ancient: Slumber of the Beast. I don't know about the Thurg clicky pet, but the only worthwhile pets are the swarm pets, which is instant 150ish dps.

What kind of DPS are you doing that 20-40 extra isn't worth the effort of /pet attack?

Not so much the effort of /pet attack but the added effort of keeping said pet alive and the extra spellslots taken up by pet heals and the trouble of getting up pet buffs every time it wipes and and and . . .

I'll buy it. How much does the shaman pet cost anyway?

We talking about Shaman pets? or Bst pets here?

If we are talking about shamans....
Shamans dont have Pet heals, and the only pet spell we even have is a haste buff (nothing special) That last a very long time and unless I am soloing/boxing always gets overwritten by just about any other group haste spell. Never any reason to use up a spell slot for your pet.

I dont think you should really be worryed about keeping the shaman pet alive, unless of coures its tanking something you dont want to attack you. ITs definitely nice extra DPS that I normaly keep in No Taunt mode.
