Bounty hunting

quote fuwok:
"Farming for charms isn't fun or good for anybody except the most masochistic amongst us."
Then dont do it.
That charms (or anything else) are in game doesnt mean everyone must get them.

quote Sodshaman1:
"I mean, not everyone has a full list of buff bots available to them and new players would love to spend some coin to get a clarity and haste."
Thats why they are new players.

quote Grinkles:
"because a high-end paladin friend let me borrow his character for the bounties."
Now that is something which really needs to be changed.

Yep, not doing it.

In a game about fun, mechanics that are seriously not fun shouldn't enjoy a large role in endgame progression.

The issue is, that by your argument, nobody should get charms. Then, why do we have charms? We have charms because it was a broken idea that was not well thought out and now we are stuck with it because so many people did actually waste months (years) farming 1.2 million charms and nobody can take it away from them because farming the charm sucked so badly that they would literally kill you in real life if you took away their charm, well, if they could because actually all their muscles have atrophied to the point that they can no longer stand up or do anything but farm platinum pieces.

edit: if you see a player with a supreme they probably haven't had sex since 1975

I wonder at your cynicism here. I raid almost exclusively at T10-T12 on my own main as it is. A T11ish paladin can solo all but three or four of the R3 bounties, but a similarly tiered enchanter with a beefy charm pet cannot solo even rudimentary R1 bounties. Would you have had me turn down my friend's generous offer? Anyway, if it's any consolation, I might say I was happy to help others along with their bounties during that month and a half or so and made some friends in the process. For a while there, I felt I knew the names of all the regular bounty fiends in SOD and enjoyed hearing news of how close they were to their next Thurgadin dream item each time we ran into one another at the Coordinator.

Just want people to know that I am sorta looking at this, for what it's worth.

Also not to sidetrack but no one likes charms as implemented but as stated it is too late to do anything about it.

I don't think it is ever too late to take a hard look at things, but I agree that it is a delicate detail to mess with.

Slaar thank you for a real response on this thread, it was extremely derailed about 30-40 posts ago and thanks for bringing it back on topic.

Late to this party as I'd taken some time off from the game, but I'm recently playing again. I had been doing bounties fairly regularly when I could get a group to do them with me. I'm currently playing a 65 druid with 120ish AA's and almost 5k mana. I still find most Rank 1 bounties difficult to solo, so it's dependent on me getting a group to do them.

As a casual player, I currently have 20 or 22 rank 1 bounty tokens and 2 rank 2's.

Being that I've also maxed fishing and use it as my primary source of income, I've found it hard to justify the current time involved grinding out bounties instead of just farming money for gear. As it is, the bounty system takes WAY too long for a casual 65 to accrue enough tokens to buy something worthwhile.

I've checked the wiki and didn't see any new information, but is it possible to trade up tokens at a 2:1 ratio similar to how the bounty people will trade you 1:2 for a higher rank token? That might make the process a little better for people who could actually use the gear as well as lowering the amount of time needed to invest in a particular gear "recipe".
