Zone Idea

EQLive Zonename: Grieg's End

SoD Zonename: TBD

Level: Fresh 65 (Exp - Named) T1 to T3 (Raid Targets)

Enemies: The best idea i could think of that woulden't reuse monsters from other zones would be to use the god models from eqlive, an example would be Cazic Thule as a melee type enemy and Innorouk as a caster type etc etc.

Bosses: Well if you got god models as trash mobs you need amazing bosses right? YES YOU DO! I think the Seventh Hammer Model (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=10341) or Mayong Mistmoore Model (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=40388) would be amazing as the final boss in the zone. If there even available as a model in the version SoD currently uses.

Loot: Trash would drop anywhere from 5p-25p. The Various named would drop items for all classes with +5 stats / +50 hp/mana and focus 3 items. Every focus 3 item would be available on some sort of item in the zone. This allows every class to get the focuses they need at 65. This would also apply to mod items like +5 Taunt or +5 kick etc etc. Raid Targets would drop loot equivalent to what drops in SE/DHK. Named loot would be no drop to off set the plat that drops, this also will make high tier players not bother trying to farm the zone.

As the server stands T1-T3 (aside from Halls of Misery and DHK/SE) are bad, really bad. The gear is so bad its not even worth trying to raid mobs like Ancient Wind/Rock Torrent or Lavascale etc.

We really need a fresh 65 zone that is good for exp and gear. Would it really be so bad to add a zone for fresh 65's to get both exp and gear in and also be fun? Yes we have cmal but there are only so many bosses in there and most of them are on a 3-5 day timer. Most 65's cant even get a full set of gear.

Bascially you can make this the same way you made Overgrowth but scaled down for fresh 65 with tier 1-3 raid targets.

Well thanks for reading. Its an idea anyways.

Yes. The answer is yes. If exp is good then "fresh" 65s are not going to dominate that zone. What we really need is a zone with terrible plat, mediocre at best xp, no big vendor items, and lots of T1-2 nodrop items from fun encounters. Then the zone does not get locked down by plat farmers, bored boxes, and xp groups looking to really grind through their 50th tome.

As for the zone itself:
-Grieg's End is an excellent candidate b/c of the many many deadends for dropping nameds in.
-IIRC GE had lots of trash robed mobs, so adding the Hammers as bosses would be a solid addition.

Random lore idea:
We have heard a lot of mess about the dangers of the MoP and now those fears are coming true! Some wacky cult has created a settlement bridging the gap between our worlds [one zone-out to mop and the other to old pofear in greenmist??] and if we do not stop them really bad, like super serious, stuff could happen.

A zone like this would compliment turning several of the T1-2 world mobs into lvl 40-64 adepts.

It sounds like it could be helpful for fresh 65s that don't have the money to buy all the ikkisith/FR/Emberflow/etc droppables that established players can equip their alts with. And the low tier raid scene is kind of a mess with so many single targets randomly distributed in various zones and many killed by higher tier players for quests, clickies, and BOEs.

Fresh 65s will be better off grouping or farming the entry 65 zones for AAs. The plat from grouping/farming will get them the entry level (droppable) gear and early charms they need, and except for tanks the AAs and codexes give them much more power than any T1-T3 raid gear would give them.

There is little need to raid anything before T4 except for casters to get ancients and relics.

I dont understand how this was not an issue before and its a huge issue now. The problem is all the high tier players are trying to force the newbies into thinking you need focus item 9s to group.

With the amount of low tier guilds Prophecy, Pwny, Resurg, (Insert that guild who kills giants who their entire cast has shitty gear but they all have like 50+ tomes), Evolution there should be no problem for a newbie to find a home w/ similar geared people.

Tier 4 is not suppose to be the new Tier 1.

this whole idea/presentation reminds me, a little bit, of how cmal is.

I love cmal and think there should be more zones like it for lower end people so I fully support this idea.

side thought - what if this were made as a lower-tier 12 man zone?

could be decent xp and good loot for 2 groups on tier, and a challenging/better xp spot for 1 higher-end group.

edit- not to mention it could be winged or scale greatly in difficulty as you get deeper in

Great Idea besides the Better xp spot for 1 higher end group. This Bonus plagues CMal1-3 for lower tier people to gear up. The zone is Constantly down and the named all on Different timers.

Could be like Thaz was in the sense that it can drop full sets of gear for all classes but at level 65(fresh).

Agreed.
If a 6/12 man zone like the OP suggested is made it cannot function as a good xp zone for a higher end group. Then you get CMAL 2.0 where nameds are routinely downed by people who laughed at the drops three years ago, many of whom do not bother bringing a newb or three along to enjoy the loots.
Low xp, nil plat, and lots of T1/2 no drops is the winning ticket.

honestly voidworm is like a tier 8 encounter. once you get a bard in the raid you have basically won the fight.

I'll try again asking about this.

Is this still true after the semi-recent adjustments to encounters in this zone?

No, if someone used a tier 8 tank on that fight they would chain wipe on it forever. The problem is people think that bringing tier 13 tank and a handful of other similar tiered characters into a raid of a tier 8 guild somehow makes the fight a tier 8 fight.

It is an easy fight for sure but it is not THAT easy.
