Wyvernfang Armor quests

So here's the deal: i've got a few 65's, been playing for awhile, and a friend and I started up. We decided to roll our char untwinked and just hit adepts and quests buying no items along the way, adn now that we're in the mid 20's, i compared our gear to that of wyvernfang armor, and we need none of the pieces. Now this doesn't make much sense to me, seeing as the pieces arn't very easy to get, even now that they are buyable/dropable or w/e, but if 2 fully quest/adept geared chars don't need any of it ( all plate class btw) then I think it needs a slight upgrade, jump my 2cp

It'd be great if you could provide either specific item comparisons or fomelos of the characters.

I really don't know the plate stats, but given the Greysteel Chain Bracers have an AC of 5, you really cannot dispute his arguement as if it is something you have never heard about. We all yelled about it plenty when "the North" was retooled, something was to be done about it, but it was never really a priority high enough to make it... so many things needed to be done before it could be gotten around to.

Given that, as you said yourself, other options exist and it is targeted at a level range that few players spend much time existing in (even if it was fixed, you would wear it what... 4 days? A week?) and that it is a fairly unglamourous and probably boring bit of work, can you really blame anyone for it slipping to the wayside?

The problem with wyvernfang armor, is the materials and drops needed for it, don't drop where it should. I've seen this stuff drop in places such as lasanth, which is roughly a 45+ zone. I would put wyvernfang armor more close to... 15+. It USED to drop in the first ruins, back when it was 20+ish.. but then it got revamped.

It used to drop like freaking absolutely everywhere (shortly after it was made nodrop). Which was pretty annoying as you'd be 50ish wandering about killing stuff and getting them.

But regardless, the only time I ever used wyvernfang armor was back on my (technically 2nd character as I got my first character, a shaman, to lvl 14 beforehand) shadowknight. I got like 2 pieces at once (because the components were still droppable then) turned it in, and abruptly decided it was not worth it to do anymore of them (long run), so I hung out near a forge for 20 minutes and got a bunch of copper platemail castoffs for free.

The whole thing is kind of self-defeating. If you look at where it is in comparison to most starting cities (all the way out in the middle of nowhere...uh I mean wyvernfang), through an area where quite possibly people needing it in the first place must either A) Run like hell, or B) Be eaten. The quest pieces being nodrop only, and the relative ease with which one can just group up and kill a couple of little nameds and get armor does not help it either. Also the nonsensical manner in which they drop is no boon. Playing around with my alts I managed through a hefty amount of "hey I'm a twink, lets slaughter everything in the zone wantonly" I managed to collect lots of different pieces, and enough for 1 armor piece, that was not for my class. The level range and the ease to get out of it somewhat depends on your class though. As a lowbie sk, it was pure hell leveling, as a lowbie mage it was pretty easy. No group? No problem! Still took a while, but being a tank with shitty gear is much worse than being caster dps with shitty gear, groupwise, solowise, etc.

okay, so as i've been saying: not a single piece is better than anything else we've gotten w/out buyiung a sinlge item. So, here is what I propose: wyverfang armor quest line...slightly bump up the first quest armor pieces, then add a second, maybe even third round to it so people can upgrade their gear sort of like a low version of draconic armor etc. what do you guys think?
