I'm fairly new here to WR but an old vet to EQ.

That being said - i would like to start a well designed nice guide site to go along with WR - one where a few people would go around and find things test them and post what they find on the site. have info on spells, items, quests, maps everything that woudl be helpfull to the players. my main question is:

A. Has this been done yet?
B. If so, How can i help?
C. Would the Devs mind if I started one?
D. Would you be willing to hlep me?

Thanks for your time.

A. Has this been done yet?
Yes, two times actually. Both died, because noone actually submitted any info.
I created a spell list by class (similar to castersrealm), but I can't put it up until my new server is ready.

B. If so, How can i help?
Try to contact them (search around a bit).

C. Would the Devs mind if I started one?
I doubt so.

D. Would you be willing to hlep me?
See question A.
:)

We don't mind if you make a guide site, so long as you don't try to ask us devs for any information :)

I encourage you to make a guide site! Some of my quests will probably need it ;p

oh, and welcome to WR, hope you enjoy yourself :)

Guide sites are good when you are looking for infos about a quest for example, but I think that it kills a lot of the roleplay/exploring part of the game...

Some people are gonna say "just dont look at it if you want to explore everything by yourself", I know its right, but guides are usefull sometimes. I think that these sites have killed a lot of fun for me when I was playing live...
Once again, WR is not live, so it'll maybe not be the same thing here, I dont know...

Its a good idea anyway, and I'll help as much as I can if you need help, but think about what I said first about it...

I know what you mean

I know exactly what you are talking about - but - some things need to be on there. with no more than 70 people on line at times, and most doing things - it gets hard to find out information - i know i have questions about some quests still, and ive talked to every NPC i've seen so far. its just nice to have some help out there when you need it. i also plan to redo the ingame maps to show the correct information and put them up for download as well.

I will be starting a beginning layout as soon as i get my server working correctly when the time comes i will put out a call for help and information.

thanks again for your interest in this - we can make this quality, useable and wanted.

Personally I like the ability to look at a player made quest/item DB. From a guild leaders prospective it eases my selection of upgrading members gear. From the Rpers view and those with a sense of exploring it may seem like a cheap shortcut. People go to these sites for a reason, which isn't to ruin the exploration for themselves.

Ive started collecting items used in Quests and i have also started a Hunting guide based off of the hunting guide post + some of what i have expirienced. and i am creating a zone connection map that just shows zones and what zones they connect two, not so much as a world map with zone names(its a tidge confusing to see what zone conects to what that way) I have also started relabling the in-game maps to reflect the WR info instead of the EQLive info.

so, if anybody wants to help out, just send the info to [email protected] and if you submit any information please make it as exact and understandable as possible such as:

Quest item:
Kobold Scout's Torch - need 3 of them for a warrior Tunic
(you can even go beyond and tell me the name of the tunic and its stats)

Hunting Guide:
Mistwoods is dedent xp from 1 to 8 in my experiance

The above are just examples of how i would like to recieve the information - it helps me to figure out whats going on, and how i can organize it. when i get the site up you will be able to submit info from there. untill then email away :)

Also, since i am creating an items database any items you want to take a screen shot of and email is fine with me as well

Its alive! Its alive! .. Well barely

Ooohkay! well i finaly got my server up and running so i have the website up, i threw a little data up on it too so that its not just a totaly useless site sitting up there anyway here is the link

http://wrguide.game-host.org

If you have any content to update with you can still e-mail me at the same address.

Thanks for all your help

I'll help

I dont knwo anything about coding, or making a website, :( , but I am leveling REALLY fast, so I'll be able to give you some good information about the mobs and zones where I have hunted. :D

Edit: forgot to add that I do all the quests I can find, so I'll send you some information on those, too, as I complete them

What information are you looking for?

Yeah, what HE ^ said! so yeah- do you want stuff like max damage a mob hits for, loot, stuff like that? Write back quickagain lol :p

I am looking to collect data on monsters too - but i want things like:

Min Level
Max Level
Items Droped
Zones It Resides In
Related To Any Quests

for equipement stats, you should perhaps use wanelo.
Get some name of ppl you see online, then check their wanelo profile for the items... It'll be boring I know but its the easiest way. Or perhaps put something on the website so people can send you items with stats.

I actually have been using wanelo - time consuming and boring - but usefull.

I eventually will have a way to submit items yourself - and take a little bit of the work out of my hands. that way more data can be entered by more that just me.

My main concern is to get as much info on there as possible, and keep it accurate and up to date - otherwise this website like many others will fade away into the abyss know as the content-less sites of the internet.

Perhaps you could get some sort of database of the more basic loot from Wiz?

Maybe he wouldn't feel bad about parting with items that have lower/no stats?

Maybe he wouldn't mind giving you the entire database but that's probably the least likely thing I've ever heard.

Still it would be cool if Wanelo were searchable by slot at least if not by slot/class/race/etc parameters.

Wanelo is a character browser, not an item browser. We went to great lengths to prevent people from accessing item stats whatsoever without being on the character's Wanelo, but more recently we loosened up the "regulations" and allowed things like offsite viewing of items - so long as a character still owns them, and you know the ID of said character.
