Which race for monk.

I like both monk races, human and iksar, and because faction is not really a problem, I don't know which race to pick. Iksars do have Infravision, better armor, regen, but also less xp and skill rate. While Humans are blind, but get more xp and skills. Once your at lvl 20 or so your skill rate doesnt really matter, because they get maxxed out in a few fights. Humans have more str, and sta. But Iksars have more agi, dex, and wis. I think I alsoheard, that in the end, Iksars will attack a litter bit faster. I am pretty poor, and wont be twinking this guy out so starting stats help a lot.

I am thinking human because of the str and sta and because I think they look better as monks. So what race fights better, or does it all matter on how you play it?

Iksar. (period)

They have the only bonuses that matter in the end.

If I had it to do over again I would have rolled Iksar for my warrior.

Iksar. Partially for the reasons already mentioned, but mostly so that there will be fewer humans. ;)

I'm still hoping for a halfling monk. Now that would be a shining example of self control and discipline :D

Human, the exp debt is gonna kill you when you AA unless you are one of the few who have the desire and time to get an Iksar to that point. Your casual to semi serious raider will be fine as a human.

For some reason, I don't think it's in the SoD Staff intentions to have a race be the obvious better choice for a given class. I suspect that any discrepancy big enough to not eventually even out thanks to abilities, gear, etc. would be looked at and eventually fixed. So I'd advise to go with what you prefer and not do too much number crunching, because the numbers change here much faster and much more often than they do on Live.

Play what you think looks the coolest, or fits you best. Thats always the best choice IMO.

Its simply a matter of work you put into it.
If you think you'll end up >maybe< reaching 65 with a few AA's, go human. If you want to the the uberest of the uber, go Iksar and plan to put more work into it.

Keep in mind, the two responses (three if you could my vote for Iksar all the way) are from people who are end game. 65, 300+ aa's, etc.
Yes, it takes a little bit longer to grind. But when you start to put points into inate charisma for your monk, you'll be wishing you had that inate AC bonus as an Iksar.

just go iksar, yeah it's longer, and yeah you look gay, but overall you're better than humans and plus you can always just get a perma illusion if you think you look stupid.

My 520aa's say that the exp debt is hardly noticable ><

I don't know if I'd jump for joy or cry if I had 520 AA's....

Iksar have like +15 combat related skillpoints to start with, thereabouts. Infravision is nice, but I think the monk starfall headband lets humans see in the dark, but there are plenty of other light producing items as well. If you don't mind the slower EXP gain, Iksar are teh better monk I think, it's not like some meager regen matters much when you have thousands of HP - make a healer bot!

Not everyone can dedicate the time you were able to.

Iksar. My AC as a human, even with pretty decent raid gear, is lacking. Also Im always blind =(

I have not created/played a monk on SoD ... yet. But, I will add this: Iksar's experience penalty has been recently reduced (with in the last few months). After IE when Zhak leveled up his monk. So, it's not as much of a pain as it once was.

So a few more questions. Do Iksars get any special attacks like on Live, and who/how/where can I get perma illusion Halfling? lolsz

I'd play a human over an iksar without hesitation, or question. I've never aimed to be uber and frankly I think iksar's are fucking dumb.

And besides, everyone plays an iksar.

Fucking iksars.

Iksars get tail rake instead of the human version: Dragon Punch. However both attacks effectively do the same thing.

Also, perma illusion halfling can be bummed off a lot of high end enchanters. If you are REALLY interested in being a halfling for ever and ever, get your perma illusion soulbound :D

WTB perma soulbonded female dark elf on Korinth, pst in game!

Oh yea, watch me shake it as I run up the ladder, giggiddy giggiddy gigg-a-deee
