What class do you like to see in a group?

And not to start any shit, since there is so much of that in other current threads involving this class, but If I had my choice I'd rather not have a monk when i am grouping with my alts. Simply for the lack of autosplit on the $$. I've lost count on how many times, while leveling, I got hosed out of a split cause the ML was a flake. It's not that big of a deal now, but it kinda sucked then.

Now you effing monk-lovers go ahead and flame.

You speak the truth... If you're a monk and split bothers you that much, destroy your copper and silver coins once in a while. My monk does. If you're not tanking, it doesn't matter that much anyway. If your weight is so close to your cap that you can't carry a few coins, you might want to reassess your gear.

People, in a group situation, that understand that when the group has a bard or an enchanter that MEZING is better than "AoE"'ing 2 mobs simply because their AoEs have a higher dps that way. (Yes, that means don't use rains, targeted AoEs, etc.)

If a group has the capability to mez...then mez. If you don't, determine group and mob dynamics to see if rooting is preferred. It helps the healer's mana drastically. (Since the melee dps'ers are focused on a single mob.)

Oh, and competent group, non-boxed, healers.

<From the manned tank of groups>

Except of course y'know, when you crush them both at the same time, far faster, and save a shitload of mana.

A mained tank.

and yes, very rare

And yet every night I hear people asking for healers. I think what you meant to say is that there are too many boxed monks/druids/shamans.

Also, ome might say that there is a shortage of well played monks, druids and shamans.........

The real answer is that for grouping tanks and healers are in short supply. But what people mainly want is well played toons.

As a mained shaman, I can't tell you how many groups I've been turned down from because they want a cleric. It's a lot less that people have a problem finding healers, and much more (atleast in my experience) that they want a cleric rather then a shaman or druid.

the only place id take a cleric over a druid would be emberflow, otherwise druids do just damn fine. heals + dps + utility = rocked socks

And that's crazy. Are people biased because shamans don't get group heals? Or because the vast majority of shamans are buff bots? Thade, I think you and I are exceptions, as we main our shamans.

Now Thade is a lot more impressive of a toon than mine, but I have been the healer in groups up to EW Orcs, Sorc's Lab, and Plaguelands. And the only time we've wiped was when the idiot puller got too aggressive and decided we could do 5 worshippers, except that 2 of them were priests instead, and we got ass-pounded.

But I digress. It does seem that there is a bias against shamans being main healers. Sure, no group heals, but once they get the Chloro-line of spells, they are pretty effective.

You are also not a random pug vart :p

hey, the title of the thread says nothing about pugs, also you have no idea how random i can get:)).

i do pugs pretty often, its a fun way (usually not so sober way) to meet people :)

I hate when Thade is my healer. He doesn't cast to keep me alive; he just casts to watch the stupid Taldorian flip.

ROFL thats funny.... but SHM dooooo get a Gheal you just have to know how to get it :p Sadly though its not a spell :(

Autosplit blows anyway... assuming it still works as it used too. IE only actually splits pp if there's enough PP to split and all extra goes to looter, same for gold, silver, copper.
Most of my groups people don't even loot. I wind up spending my time (as monk often) looting and destroying EVERYTHING including coin (cept gold) just so there arent as many corpses cluttering the place up.

I have no problem keeping most groups alive. But my guildmates know and trust me. Random pugs do not. About the only zone I don't feel comfortable main healing is emberflow, provided our tank doesn't do anything stupid. The problem is playing a shaman takes more work to be effective and most people who play shamans have no idea how to heal and just want to dps things (and these are the shamans most people seem to encounter). Also, wtb mourning of purity + ashpyre, pst.

It splits plat evenly among people. If one plat drops and 4 people are in a group they'll get 2gp 5sp each. The looter gets the extra that can't be split, but it's a tiny amount anyway.

Autosplit is more fair than FFA or ML anyway if you're in pick up groups.

Pretty sure autosplit doesn't work that way. I think it works like Lithan said.

Also destroying plat - /hidecorpse all!

It may well work that way here/now. My experience is original eq and the first few expansions, and I know for a fact it only split if there the same number/more coins than people then. So if it's different here, it's probably a feature the SoD guys built in. Can anyone confirm/deny that this is how it works?

When I look for a group, I want to see one healer, one tank and one mage. well rounded groups fair better. I don't often group with others outside my normal group though, because I have trouble finding a balanced group. That and I notice too many hogs that dont auto split or share drops. More than anything I need a group that is not greedy.
