Vah Assassinations (Groups, Timers, and Grief)

I could name a few people who did this in the past, but I'm not aware of this being a thing lately.

I think many of us can remember a time when this sort of thing has occurred. I actually remember an incident where someone was reduced to tears a few years ago after some griefing on the spider...

The challenge is to find a way to eliminate the negative side of this section of the quest, without eliminating the challenge. I think allowing a group flag at the very minimum would be a reasonable step in that direction. As another question, what would people think about simply making the mobs depop for 10 minutes or so if engaged by someone who does not hand in a rose in the first 30 seconds or so?

That's just a roundabout way of saying "remove the cash drops".

Nah, because, in theory, even if cash were removed, people would still be able to kill the mob to grief (in theory). Also this way, we still have the cash drops on a proper assassination, but it would require a rose handin to actually kill the mob. Thus, you make the mobs no longer farmable, but still have bonus incentives for those who want to help.

As someone who is doing the assassinations for the first time, I have to say, yes they are annoying to get, and yes, i expect it to take some time for me to get them, however, i dont agree with making a * version, or them killable only if you have a rose (to me this effectively removes content from the game, something that I dont like, and removes any of the challenge of the kill). I would agree/like it if the group could all get quest credit for the kill, I'm not sure how often this comes up, but I dont think it makes the quest easier in any way

this is essentially the same as making a star version but with a cash drop and is pretty dumb.

I'm a beastlord so getting vah back isn't really gonna change much. I tried tho, and yeah the assassinations suck. Esp since all my trackbot info's changed, and I'm too lazy to make new ones myself. The struggles are real.

do you remember the last time the vah quest was made to be less of a pain in the ass?

Seems like making group get quest credit would fundamentally change the dynamics of this part of the quest. I.e., I thought the main challenge is figuring out how to solo dps these mobs with X class.

I don't remember having to solo dps assassinations? Maybe its because I'm a wizard so it wasn't an issue, but regardless, you can definitely bring more people to tank/heal... so any class can eventually dps down a mob when other people are tanking and healing it.

Group flags would change things a bit, make the mobs slightly less contested, and reduce drama when more than one person tracks the same mob. It'd be a super minimal change in difficulty for a nice boon to the social game. That's a worthwhile trade IMO.

Haenir- I think you might be thinking about the refuge assassination and Raptor fight, not the Vah assassinations.

i really don't think anything should be changed. so many people have vah backs, it's not like the quest is just way too hard to complete. if you try hard enough you can and will get it done. if you don't you will not and don't deserve to be handed a vah back. the quest is supposed to be a pain in the ass.

Maybe nothng about the quest should actually change, but npc bots could be added to the entrance of zones with those types of contested mobs that gave out free counseling for those that just failed. Maybe even just add in some messages like those that were in awhile back upon zoning. "Awww, Hugh. It looks like you blew it on the Eternal One again. How about you relax a bit and take comfort in not being a beastlord."

Beastlords only exist to make eveyone else feel better about themselves. When we roll it says "You WILL be at the bottom always in everything, you get nothing as compensation and everyone will make fun of you. Please enjoy your stay."

That is a good point, somebody has to be on the bottom!
