Vah assassinations and "immediate companions"

Can someone please lay out what exactly is required for these assassinations? Failed the Advisor assassination today because we backed him too far out of his spawn point, and are stuck waiting hours for the Thought Mage assassination because we killed the two guards that wander back and forth OUTSIDE of his room.

Especially the Thought Mage, it's impossible to know what's "safe" to kill before you engage when mobs outside the room will screw up the assassination.

Secondly, an 8-hour respawn on the TRASH in front of the Thought Mage? When the rest of the trash in Cmal1 is a 15-minute respawn? What's the point of that other than to piss a lot of people off for no reason at all.

/rant off, but still annoyed.

Nearly all of cmal is on that 8 hour timer.

You just leave all trash alone that you can. If you dont have to kill it, then dont. And in some situations, you do actually have to wait for respawn. For the cmal one, the trash before it can be avoided by just being smart with their pathing. Best bet is to find someone who has done them all to help you out

Well the four serpents by the first water spout in cmal1 respawned within 15 minutes. Found that out the hard way.

The point is that it's a crap shoot knowing what can be killed and what can't. If the entire wing had to be left alone before an assassination, the quest dialogue should say so, that way you wouldn't kill a named only to find that Mira doesn't show up and you've screwed yourself out of an assassination.

I'm sorry to inform you that we are out of silver platters to serve strats on, and spoons to feed em. Maybe you should try figuring them out yourself, just like the people who figured them out first.

Tips for Vah Assassinations:

The Thought Mage:
You cannot kill the four mobs in his immediate room, nor the two mobs that path outside of his room, despite what the quest dialogue says. Will update this post when I find out if there are other mobs you can't kill.

The Advisor:
You *might* be able to invis your group all the way up to the Advisor's room, but be careful: a few random djinns will see invis, so you might wanna just clear a bit on your way there.

Don't pull the advisor more than a few feet from his spawn point or you won't get the assassination flag.

The Eternal One: helps to have an FD'er available for this one: train the eternal one out of the way with your FDer, then move your group to the top of the chamber above the eternal one. Wait there for the mobs to reset before you engage.

Assassin Zyk:
Can't offer any tips here since I haven't done it yet. Maybe someone else can.

For thought mage Skyee told me he mezzed everything them camped everyone out for 30 min and relogged. I wasted like 2 hours trying to figure out Zyk. I finally just killed him in frustration.

Zyk, kill 3 mobs by pool or root them go past and invis, enter Zyk's room and camp out 31 or 6 mins depending on whether or not u killed mobs. Mobs on 30 min respawn.

Relog walk up to named hand rose as u uninvis then kill.

The main problem with all these mobs is finding them up. Took me 6-8 weeks to kill them all. Both adviser and eternal one took 2 weeks each to find up such is the competition.

for all my vah assassinations jraul held my hand like i was a wee little baby and i don't understand how any of them work except that they like expect you to content skip

1) fixed

2) i will take your chocolate bar away hansel, helping a fellow gamer doesn't make his pixels or yours any more or less pixelated

3) send a tell to banjimen, he'll do your assassinations for you, he told me so

When you hand in the rose there will be an emote if you did it correctly. If you didn't do it right, camp out in a safe spot (in the back corner out of LoS of mobs) and let the tank die. Rez him back when you log in or have an SK tank him and FD. Don't kill the named until you get the right emote. And you can kill the pathers outside of the room. The dialogue says specifically the mobs within the area of the Thought Mage. Just don't kill any that spawn in the room. Also, it took me maybe 4 or 5 failed turn-ins before it worked and I couldn't tell you what the difference was. Just keep trying and if you dont get the right emote, camp out and try again.

Advisor doesn't need to be pulled anywhere. You can invis right to him. The only things that see invis are wandering imps and the overseer imp. There's one wandering imp that roams to zone in, easy to wait for him and kill. There's one other wandering imp that goes to the room with two efreeti's right after the stone dropping trap thing. You can either kill both the efreetis and wait for the wandering imp or just go to the hallway to the left of the room and wait there. The imp will path through there and you can kill him. Then there's no invis seeing mobs all the way to Advisor, unless you go through overseer imps room (which you shouldn't).

With any of the assassination targets, DO NOT KILL THEM IF YOU DON"T GET THE RIGHT EMOTE. You know right as you hand in the rose if the turn in was successful. If he 'Sees you coming' you did it wrong. If he has some other emote about whoeverthefuck sent you, then kill them WITHOUT killing any of the mobs near them first. I remember I was fighting Eternal One and accidently killed an add and had to camp/fd, wait 30 mins, and do it all over again.

It's not advice. The quest only refers to the mobs in the room. I definitely killed the roamers outside of the room. I think it's unnecessary to leave them up, but if someone doesn't want to risk it then they don't have to kill them.

The quest actually says not to kill the snakes outside the room.....

Also if you can't dodge two roamers you probably don't deserve to finish your vah banner.

Oh. haha. I did it over a year ago. I tried to find the quest dialogue but didn't really look that hard. Maybe I didn't kill the roamers then!

The quest dialog really does do a pretty good job explaining which mobs you need to leave up for each assassination. Any confusion about that part can probably be traced back to not reading or misreading the dialog.
