Unexplored 2 box?

Just out of curiosity, was wondering if anyone had ever tried boxing a necro/bard. I could see where this would be a very potent combo for taking down multiple mobs, and very strong mobs. Bard kites mobs around while they rot from necro dots, with necro pet following (taunt off of course) adding extra dmg. No need for heals as no one should really get hit, and if many runs out toward end of fight, bard could finish mobs off with melee possibly. Any thoughts?

This fails inevitably because:
1) things will summon
2) things will cast and you will eventually get hit and have no heals.
3) The outdoor zones you would most likely being doing this have lots of unfriendly roamers that will sneak up on your necro not to mention just being a poor source of exp to begin with.
4) you could just play the necro alone and do the same thing for better exp without cutting the bard into it.

tank/monk and a healer will be able to take down the strongest mobs for obvious reasons. Dunno why people try reinventing the wheel (I feel like I have posted this before)

Necro/bard is a *very* fun combo. At low levels, mobs don't summon, and your strat will get you up to 65 np - so long as you can manage the dual kiting strategy, which is a little bit rough. It's really a killer combination, with great utility overlap (let the necro snare/root so the bard does more dps) and dual kiting awesomeness. Furthermore, while lots of high end areas have mobs that summon, many do not - you will still be able to exp well into 65 without issues. Just don't be expecting to farm big money cash mobs with that setup.

I did this exact same duo (not boxing) with my hubby when I first rolled on this server. As I recall there were only two bugs at the time that made it frustrating: First, my tendency to accidentally kill his pet 5x a day with invis/travel song (has been fixed!), and Second, his pet would constantly taunt so the kiting thing didn't work as well as we might have hoped (I *think* that has changed.) Keep in mind, this was ~ 5 years ago.

If you're looking for a duo that hasn't been done a million times, this one will get you up into the high levels where you can raid without having to compete for spots that all the duo'ers need because they min/max'd their way there.

Well, except for a few limited fights, you never need to stack bards on a raid. While stacking necro's actually seems to work out better. Would certainly require a lot of alt-tabbing to succeed, inc carpal tunnel also.
I wish you luck though, if you can master it, I bet the exp will flow nicely.

2 Bards is Teh Winn0r in raidzzzz

Bard / ranger has been pretty cool but you really do end up holed into kings pass, robots and then lasanth for the best exp whatever box you pick in the end. This box is the one with the highest combined bind wound skill though... The kiting experiment in the early levels was fun but then the bow damage kind of dropped at the 30's. By that time you're in dungeons anyway like i said.

I see people do bard + dps not often but, enough to make it not unheard of.

I bet mage + necro or wiz + necro might be interesting, i have never played any of those 3 classes so i guess thats why i imagine it would be fun. A guildie boxes mage and BST which seems pretty badass, cant beat basically a 4- member box, with semi- heals.

Bard + Ranger ? Lol gawd.

Fuck that in raid. I'd shoot myself if i had to ALWAYS kite folerit, Thaz1 and all those stupid encounters that wipes because people can't play a MMO that requires to push buttons.

i often box a druid bard b4 i just gave up and rolled pally. dot kiting is not as fun as you may think although i dont like playing by myself so not much fun 4 me.

heheh thats me.

Ranger and bard is fun, as long as you're not alt tabbing and have set switch windows to a different keyset. They are 55 now and i spent some solid time doin the kite in GD. The most window switching ever, but it works well.

And hai Riule :p

Idk if any of you are familiar with Brentur/Brentarax or w/e his real main is. Hes in anguish on possibly all his alts...

At lvl 20 we grouped in mielech with his bard/necro. He had the bard tanking (bard was pretty twinked for a lvl 20) and the necro used the lifeflow line they get to "heal him" while he played regen song, mezzed, and played haste. It worked really well. I don't think he duoed with just those 2 by himself like that much though. Later we grouped in robots but had a regular group...guys still the best puller ever tho in 55 and below XP groups.

It gets old seeing threads like this where some people's replies are merely just "roll a tank/healer". Come on now. Do you really think we need more ungeared tanks on server? mained healers yes we do need badly but if everyone's running around boxing tank/healers what would be the point of the other what? 11 classes in game. As someone's who's tried less conventional combo up to lvl 55 (bard and mage) I can tell you that the combo actually starts off weak but gains power as time goes on. And in the right areas I had NO trouble snare kiting. Anyone paying any decent amount of attention should be able to snare kite without picking up adds unless you're just blind or something.

As bard mage i snared kited well into my 50's, basically bard would snare kite the mob down to 80% health or so, then mage would sick pet with /pet taunt off. At about 70% i'd start casually nuking on my mage and normally the mobs would drop before mage pet would steal aggro. By that point mage would play pet healer while bard melee dps's until mob dead. Trust me, it works. And if done properly is actually very efficient and can be done nonstop without ever needing downtime.

All in all, I would suggest to give the combo some time if you're really serious about it. The combo may seem weak but once you can get 60+ buffs on your toons its ez exp from there. Or like it was suggested you could just be lazy and roll a tank/healer combo like 80% of the server does...

There's nothing unconventional with a Bard or a Mage BTW, let alone both of them together.

Fail Moar.

With things like the animals in Remnants now in the game (indifferent, non social, don't summon) a lot of unconventional box setups are possible at 65+. Tank/Healer will still probably be more efficient but a dual kite setup or 2 casters or something can definitely grind AA easily at 65 in a lot more zones than previously.

spoiler alert, the animals in reemnants are not actually indifferent. Or not all the time
