Underplayed races?

The thread about the server population got me thinking about whats the most underplayed race in SoD.

Right off the bat I am going to have to say Frogloks. Both my toons are Frogloks and too date I have seen only 1 other froglok (65 Cleric).

As to a second race, Humans... of the humans I see there all monks :)

People tend to play for the bonuses most I think. Also to avoid the penalties. For example. When I made a human character. I rerolled it eventually, because not being able to see a damm thing, was extremely annoying to me. Frogloks have some bonuses that are good, but compared to alot of races they're pretty lackluster, so thats probably a large reason.

In the end game (65 with AAs) Racial bonus dont realy ammount to much, so I always found it funny how people will nit pick them.

Theres definitly +s to certain Race/Class combos no doubt.

I have seen alot of eruidtes oddly enof... So far there all enchanters.

High elves seem to be the dominate race in the world. That and Barbarin warriors :)

Quick Survey as of this evening:

Barbarianss: 27
Dark Elves: 20
Dwarves: 4
Erudites: 8
Frogloks: 4
Gnomes: 8
Halfelves: 11
Halflings: 3
High Elves: 10
Humans: 20
Iksars: 13
Ogres: 6
Trolls: 2
Wood Elves: 16

Of course this doesn't count people who are anon, and the small sample size makes the error large.

Alot more humans then I would expect, But that overall does seem pretty accurate from what I have seen.

Sorry Jayelle for being in the wrong forum.. Classes & Gear didn't seem the right place :) guess I was wrong.

This can be very very untrue.

I am still kicking myself for making my warrior a halfling. With the Hidden Strength AA on the scene and the iksar AC it was an extremely stupid choice. I had the same attitude when I first picked him though.

.. Ok good point.

For the most part, what race you toon is isn't going to matter greatly in the end. :)

I think I had it easy with Paladin... not realy any racial pick that can cause any problems there. Well prehaps Erudites :what:

I do get alot of strange looks at my Froglok Shaman :toot:

In this game, paladin equals 90% of the time to high elves, thanks to the charm immunity, the resistance to mez and the infravision that really make up for the lack of stats ( and the ugly look :keke:).

A couple races have some benefits that really set them apart from the others.

ie. Gnomes get a 10% bonus to effects. High Elves are immune to charm/mez. Ogres get stun resistance and good stats. Humans get exp benefit.

Typically you see less of races without serious benefits. Like frogloks.

There is also the by default class/race.
You will hardly see any other shamen than barbarians and iksars. Because charisma in SoD is vital, and because all the other races start with such poor cha that it's ridiculous... 60 ( before you put in your points) is already low by any caster standard, plus the fact that wis is also low for all shamen races, so you know you will have to put some of those points there too...

i dont know about other people but when i started a few years back i didnt know anyone except my brother i picked human classes to start near newport and learn the area instead of being all the way out in sardi malath . thats just me though

(represent the human druids)

I always thought this seem rather funny...

Its understanable why the Iksar is so popular for shamans (Reg + AC bonus)
70-75-90-85-90-75-60 There sat are vey well rounded and iksar have the best wis and Cha for a shaman (from a Max out view Iksar are the top choice for a shaman).

However.. once you go the next best for a shaman it gets intoa grey area in my view.

Barbarin
103-100-82-70-80-60-60

Again not bad.. lost some WIS but picked up physical stats.

Now.. why is the froglok craped on as ashaman I nevered figure out.

Froglok
70-85-100-100-85-75-55

Frogloks have better physical stats then iksar. the 2nd highest wis, and only 5 down on CHA.
The only thing Barbarin have over Frogloks is higher starting str and sta and slam. But frogloks have Much higher Dex and Agil (the wis/cha is a wash between them).

Frogloks also have the Massive Lung Capcity and 200 swimming!! (kedge keep here I come!!)

Trolls and Ogre would be my last pick for shamans, since Cha is so important. NOt only do they lack Cha, but they lack Wis as well.

by the time you get to the end game or even get into deeper raiding , really it doesnt matter youll end up maxing the stats you need ,

Hidden str + racial non-stat bonuses :toot:

I could care less about innate bonuses or stats, I'm all DE just because that's how I started on Tallon and Rallos and that's how I'm endin it over here. Plus, if I feel like being a total A-hole to someone then I can simply roleplay/blame it on my evil dark-elvish ways.

Anybody with me on this one?
