Tome POOF

hey guys,
I was attending our raid and over heard a guildies talking about his tome selling on his trader but no money we didnt think anything of it. Then we come to find out another guildmate had 2 class tome poof while he was zoning. those tomes were given back but now 5 people from other guilds said their tomes poofed also. problem is this friend did not get his tome replaced as easily. he was asked for dates when he looted it. this is obviously some server wide error and honestly i tend to wonder should i log on and find mine poofed. so manly i ask im sure you aware but is this being worked on and are these tomes going to be returned to everyone?

I had to petition one earlier today, and was told it may have to do with cities, but that they were working on it actively as we spoke if that helps at all.

We are aware of the problem and have spent most of today trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

I have maybe 2 dozen tomes spread across 5-6 toons... Should I be checking each one? I may check and not know which ones are missing... Are you guys going to do a database check once this is figured out?

only carriy tomes ur doing and put enough exp in them so they show up on fomelo.... if they are on your fomelo they are pretty cool about it... ones u cant do that with better bank... if ur trying to do like magic 2 right after 1 then carry flame 1 on you so when u finish magic 1 u can put exp in something till you get to town to snag a new tome!!! obviously it doent only work for those tomes but you get the idea

Is it just tomes that are disappearing? I had logged in a friend's character and I thought some items were missing from their bags. I'm not sure if someone had logged them in and deleted/transferred items or not. I'm just curious.

All the talk of replacing CoP's and tomes with aa's and such must have scared all the books away.

Actually on topic - is this happening to already translated tomes or to tradeable ones, or both. I haven't had any issue yet (knock on wood) but I only carry translated ones on me.

You guys are making me nervous. I have at least 35 tomes spread around to different alts and I would have no clue if one poofed. Some on a specific alt are ones I still need for my shaman and the others are just junk tomes. The ones I plan on using I'd have a clue on but the others, no way.

We believe we (slaariel) found the cause. Moving tomes (or other books, and possibly bags) around in your inventory can (sometimes, not always) poof the item from the database. Jumbers is patching tonight to fix.

Took a while to figure out because, near as I can tell, the cause has been in the live code for months but somehow was never a noticeable issue until the latest patch. Mysterious.

I just wanted to stress that this only affected characters which were logged in the last two days. Only books contained in active inventory or listsold, not banks, would be a concern. You would have to move the tomes or bags, and log in and out (or zone) more than once to have any books affected.

This issue should now be resolved, thanks Slaar! But, feel free to petition if you think you are missing tomes or books.
