throwing weapons

i like how rogues play on this server... mostly... i have a few complaints but they are irrelevant to this topic so let me just get to the point.

originally, up untill the newest class was added to the game, Rogues were the throwing guys. now i know even with their critical strikes and crippling blows on throwing it still was not a good way for rogues to deal damage having to spend money on each thrown attack and and the damage was no where near what they could do with their backstabs.

shards of dalaya is not eq live.

i think it would be cool if throwing was made more useful in 1 of 2 ways (or both)

#1. a "fletching" skill for making throwing weapons. i know throwing knives and shurikens or watever can be forged but theres no portable forge and the ore and molds would weigh you down so much even if there was a portable forage it would be wouldnt be a good option. So i was thinking of something like crafting throwing weapons with a fletching kit. fletching obviously doesnt craft knives but maybe it could be like darts... poison tipped darts... they are initially crafted without any poison but poison can be applied to them. or even just make different throwing weapons if you dont want to get all involved with it. either way, the throwing weapons would be like the different kind of arrows that can be crafted. they all have a shaft, a tip, fletches, higher quality parts increase range or damage or whatever

#2. im not really sure how poisons work on dalaya (if they even exist on this server) but i was thinkin make a new container called like a poison kit or something, not used to make poison, but used to apply poison. if this option was chosen then #1 would probably be out of question because it would be WAAAAY too many items added to the database. but heres how it works. you take your "throwing knife" and stick it in the poison kit or whatever with a poison like "asp poison" or something then you click combine. the game does a skill check based on your skill in apply poison, if you do not have the required skill nothing happens (required skill is different than trivial level. required skill would be like 10 and trivial level would be like 30). on a success you recieve "asp poison tipped throwing knife" which is a throwing knife that has a 100% chance to proc asp poison on attack. you only get 1 so its a 1 shot poison. on a fail you lose the poison and keep the throwing knife.

There is a high-end no-drop pouch that drops from a mob which summons a very nice throwing weapon.

I realise that's not quite what you're getting at, but it's a start if you're really into throwing as a rogue.

:what:
kinda contradictory

tbh, discussions are already constant over rogue melee dps being in-line with what it should be, adding anything significant to throwing would just be more work that people would probably not take advantage of. Adding anything not comparable would still be more work and people still wouldn't take advantage of it.

also, they're rogues, not ninjas. they hold their daggers, stick it in yer back, and pull it out. They don't normally just chuck them about.

i always kind of figured throwing weapons would be a nice thing to have for whirlwind fights and not a lot else

since the title is throwing weapons. though the question in hopes was about rogues. I am wondering from the other game. Who in this game would you bestow The use of throwing weapons as a sufficient weapon. Cause really its semi useless except for pulling if the class wielding has to do so. Well I guess there the two handed guys who throw but that is there own weapon. I'm talking shreukins and daggers and such much. would monk be the sufficient or would rogue be the sufficient? Mabie another class?
