The War

I finally figured it out.

The pony is farting and then acting suprised.

Your a sick puppy allie.

You guys think the pony passing gas is freaky? Take another look and ask yourself why it seems to have a five o'clock shadow.

It's not a 5 o'clock shadow. Her Pony has been digging inside another horses' ass. With its mouth.

Nice derail

Core of the topic, is there some message about a battle going on in the server ? I still haven't experienced this new addition, and I want to know if there's a message when you're logging in like "War in Dalaya ! Zone_X is under attack !" or if there's just a message when it starts.

the message is pretty obvious, like "Come to StarFall the sky is falling" big red text, think it is triggered when you log in if already going on, otherwise its every couple minutes or so. If its going on, you'll know.

A kaezulian advance party will spawn and begin attacking any intelligent creatures and players in the zone.

That means Beittil would be safe *heh heh heh*

(Beit I luv ya but I just couldn't resist that one)

Tonight Kaezulian troops appeared in the Faentharc woods and started attacking it. Even though the news spread out rather fast not a lot could be done to save it. Too far away and out of range are the vast woods of Faentharc. Lots of us had the hope that Kaezuls forces would be content with building an outpost there but we were wrong and our hopes were in vain.

Not long after the terrible novelty that Faentharc was lost spread out Kaezulian's were sighted in Everfrost. Some hastily organized groups rushed there to defend it but they fall to the sheer number of enemies. What never should've happened was about to come true and the vile reptiles built a toehold right at the gates of Halas, Newport and the Glades of Surefall. As brave adventurers tried to take a step into Everfrost to fight it back a strong force gathered in Newport out of sight and got ready to sneak into Faentharc to strike the enemy from the back.

After some to and fro a strikeforce of 18 finally head out to Faentharc just to find the portal which we used occupied by some guardians. We were however successfull in fighting the intruders of and set step there. Once everyone was there and we got some reinforcements we started to move through the dark and eerie woods, always careful and always cautious since we didn't knew what was behind the next tree or above the next hill. We first headed for Stormkeep to open up another way for reinforcements and found the entrance taken by a huge force of both, vile iksars and undead golems. After a long, lossy and exhausting fight we won it back and from there out headed out in the woods to cleanse them of the corruption they had fallen to.

Our first destination was the tower that yields the portal to the coast of Wyvernfang.

We found quite a lot of mobs there that were furiously attacking us on sight.

Slowly we advanced into the tower and finally made our way up to the top. Another important landmark was taken back.

From there on it wasn't as hard as we expected it to be and we moved through the forest faster then before. We still met some heavily guarded nests with enemies but slowly advanced through the entire area without losing anyone else. And finally, after a long and exhausting battle we recaptured the woods of the faekind.
Heading for Everfrost was a matter of course and after another exhausting and lossy campaign we reconquered the vast lands outside of Halas.

In a conclusion we didn't only win two battles but the Cult also got fresh blood to its ranks which makes me hope for the future. If we stick together and don't let dispute enter our ranks we might be able to defend ourselves and maybe rid the surface of Dalaya from the plague called Kaezul.

(I just want to thank everyone that was there and helped us claiming both zones back. I had a lot of fun doing so due to all the people participating. I apologize for the somewhat weird post but it's pretty late here and I'm mad tired. And sorry if anyone bothers with the screenshots or that I didn't make any once in Everfrost. I hope for an advanced war code in a not to far future but right now I really enjoy it and must say that Wiz or whoever did it has done a great job.)

... the RNG hates me... after hours of camping I know this to be a fact.

Playing the game as much as I have been of late trying to get into one of these war zones, has only proven once again... the RNG hates me.

Any time I plaly (even for hours on end) no wars :(

Were any captains, generals, lieutenants, etc. killed, or was it just the Operation Iksar Shield troops? If any loot or awards were handed out, we would love to hear that as well. Thanks for the update!

I was out of town this whole weekend, but will be back to the front lines during the next encounter!

There were some lieutenants ... however, nothing dropped from any of them except for some coin and their standard issue gear. There was one named skeleton at the very end that dropped an Extremely Difficult TMap that Zawrlith from Aeternus won.

I figured this was the best place to post this, being the War thread and all.

During the last outbreak of war, Faydwer took a hefty beating right up until we managed to hold em off in Athica. 2 raids were assembled to clear out Kaezul's forces from wherever they may have lurked in Gfay, GSM, and Cauldron. I enjoyed it immensely, because I like being part of events like this. Regardless of how many times I take a beatdown or lag out horrifically, I find it fun. But alot of people DON'T. At least, they don't enjoy doing things like this with no reward. And there really wasn't a reward.

For every zone we cleared, we lost more and more of our forces. We started out with 2 full raids in Gfay, plus a few stragglers who couldn't be fit into the raid. By the time we hit up GSM, we'd dropped to about 1 and a half. We finished off Cauldron with about 17 people, one of which was a level 47 monk who was simply tagging along for fun. We won in the end, but now I'm worried about future Wars. Why? Because at the end of it, 90% of the people I talked to basically said "Fuck! Remind me to never do one of these again!".

Maybe it was because at the time the lag was absolutely mind boggling. More likely it was because despite saving half a continent... there was no real reward. As far as I'm aware, 3-4 items dropped. The only one that was worth a thing was Long Shot. When we stomped all over Cauldron, the only loot that dropped went to the tag-a-long because none of the 65s had the slightest bit of use for it. And believe me, some of us are very badly geared 65s (or I am at any rate).

People aren't going to participate in the Wars if there's no real reward for it. I died 4 times attempting to keep the forces of Kaezul from marching ever closer to a city that I don't even like. I died again later trying to clear them out of a tree top city that hates my guts and would happily stick my inky black head on a pike. The loot that dropped was by and large substandard. I'm not expecting Prison loot to drop, believe me. But there's no motivation to participate if it isn't at least somewhat interesting stuff.

I realize that there's a built in motivation to the wars. You either do something about it or you lose your home. But for alot of people, even that isn't enough to get people off their asses until it's too late. I'm a roleplayer by nature, just ask the rest of CW. When war breaks out I'm the first one to say "FUCK EXP WE'RE AT WAR PEOPLES!" and rush off to whatever zone needs defending. I don't need a reward. But other people do. Maybe it doesn't even have to be an item reward. How bout a little positive faction for saving a city? I lost my life defending Athica and the paladin guild is still trying to make me lose a few more.

I'm just sayin', maybe it could use a look-see? I can't save the world by myself. :(

Yeah I stopped going...I've shown up 3 times and never gotten a group, but died each time. :-/ It's just not fun for me. I imagine it might be if I could get a group, but it's too much chaos really. Too one sided. I dunno...

Hopefully the lag will be a bit better now with the new box. I think alot of people just left because of frustration about the lag during the gfay one.

Group is meaningless. You need to be in the raid or have some solid crowd control in your group.
