the state of things

actually here i'll just ask YOU, DIMMI, what an acceptable resolution to the healer interchangability thread would have been after 20 pages of people telling other people that they are just bad at the game and then vice-versa what response would really be ideal to that?

I think looking for "ideal" on the internet is an exercise in futility.

Why not just lock the thread? Locking it says "Ok, everything that might be productive has been realized here" Trashcanning it says "Thanks for your opinion, let me file it in my shredder" and changing the name of the thread just says "Hi I'm *The Only 13 Year Old Girl Dev*"

the discussion ended 4 or 5 pages in but i guess the key issue is we have differing opinions on the function of the trashcan as you will notice that the threads are all still there and readable. really i think anyone not familiar with the famous faces in that thread would be doing themselves a disservice by reading it because one could develop the impression that people here are awful. the trashcan just says 'For Experienced Forums Viewers Only'.

i am glad we agree that the thread was quickly but eventually an awful waste of everyone's attention though and i am puzzled that anyone would want to permanently house that construction in am active, public forum for one second longer than it was.

I just looked, the trash can says:

Trash Can
Terrible threads go here to never be posted on again. If your threads keep ending up here, you should probably stop posting them.

since i'm elevated to supreme advisor now, guess it shoulda been locked 15 pages ago?

Yeah I feel bad for getting pulled into the mud, but hey I'm from kansas, it's always like this

Actually I was referring to that thread not this one. if I were a gm I would have thrown it out there then linked fuwoks forums and banned both for a day when they didn't deliver to uphold my tinfoil worthiness.

Slaarial i do have a direct question for you, if your this bothered by the game why dont you stop? If its causing unneeded stress why not just stop its not worth it? Step away. You seem overly aggravated by the state of things even if its all the "crying" as you and others put it why go through with it all? Everything you do does get criticized, this does come with the role as a "figure" in the game. I know the response will be I did not ask for your(s) Criticizism but it happens any action will be subject to this. so why not take a different approach?

He's just mad dimmi didn't think the sling blade joke was funny, I wouldn't read too far into it.

I would just like to add some of my input. I work in a bank and we have VERY strict rules on what we can and can't do and every day my job is on the line because i'm responsible for large amounts of money. Leading into what my point is I don't win my clients over by following the rules. People don't want to know what policies and protocol you have to follow they want results and answers.

The way I make my clients happy is by working in the Gray areas of my job. I go against policy all the time making $30,000 checks available without hold in good faith for a business to make it through the day. And every time I do this I put my job on the line for my clients and because of this I have their respect and with that I get their accounts.

What I'm getting at is rules are guide lines, to follow and base decisions on. If every one that went 40 in a 35 got a speeding ticket there would be riots. Loyalty of your clients is won in the gray areas of your job not the rules.

I used to work in a bank too ( I'm in Canada ) and TBH, if I would have done what you did, my job would not only have been on the line, I would have been sued by my own employer.

Although this thread started out as a somewhat earnest request it has descended (thanks largely to the vocal minority) to base, unfounded complaining and blind nostalgia with little connection to reality as it was in the past.

There is not a legitimate argument to be made for rule flexibility to near the degree that this thread is asking for. People need fairly clear rules so they can adjust their behavior to them. If you have a specific issue (such as think lost items should be replaced) I more than welcome threads discussing them. Otherwise I do not think the tone this thread is very conducive for asking for change.

Woldo I think one of the biggest complaint is the ever changing rules and how some are enforced and others are not. A good example is the current unbanning of eisily(spelling is wrong i know) I dont know if there is fact to this or not but I would like to bring up the banning or Arcibu did a lesser offense and is still banned, if this was the case I think it was unfair not to unbanned. Another example is solo flaming the forums as well. I'm not creating this respons ein an attempt to discredit the staff but rather to promote a 2nd chance for both and all parties we all do foolish things, see above and am hoping you would give Archibu the benifot of the doubt or even a final warning or else even that would be reasonable with the current patterns.

Are you familiar with these situations?

Eisley took some shortcuts with his dev character, but had no malicious intent and benefitted no player.

Arcibu has been warned and banned in the past. He repeatedly got in trouble for being a general asshole (I've personally been intentionally trained by him twice in emberflow). He got banned for making a death threat against a staff member.

In my eyes, Arcibu's offenses are far greater. At the least, we are comparing apples and oranges.

Just curious what me "flaming the forums" is an example of? I try not to flame... I'm opinionated and don't attempt to hide that, but more of my posts are actually relevant to the game.

in regards of your argument of training, draos has done it to me time after time and my petitioned was ignored again and again, he was banned and unbanned why? Yes you can be a bit impassioned on your post. I think we all can when we feel strongly about anything. I was just using your passion and Arc as an example. I was not meaning to refer you both as a negative factor on the server thats clearly is not the case.

I was in Vent during the second event you're referring to. His stated intention was to check out of FWF was *really* camped out at Baphomet like they claimed in tells (since y'all could have been simply claiming to be ahead of CW in order get us to port out). While checking out the situation, he trained you guys.

Even being in Vent at the time, I don't know whether it was intentional or unintentional. He related the story as though it was a mistake, but even though I was there I thought, "how the fuck do you accidentally train people who are claiming to be directly ahead of you?" Either way, it happened, he was jailed for three days. I'm sorry the jailing and the apology weren't sufficient.

Fair enough. I would take back any comments here made if the single outcome of this thread was to relax the rule on returning lost items which are accidentally deleted, and/or looted on the wrong character. I think that would be a positive direction for the server, especially if it doesn't put too much burden on the current GMs who would be in charge of such things.

I was really drunk last night, I don't even know what this means. Point is, you can't "adjust your behavior" to something you do accidentally. If you had a choice in the matter, you wouldn't do it at all. That's why they're called accidents.

I like the part where you fail to recognize this is a very very frequent occurrence with arcibu and the fact that he often times sends tells mocking the people he trains.

How the fuck do you accidentally train a group in emberflow. Its not really possible, Its three very small linear corridors and you have ample information to provide you the location of the group way before you run into them. What the fuck at that logic of claiming to be ahead of CW even. You are all insane.
