The Rust Quest Pieces

I would really appreciate some more clarification on exactly what the nameds in The Rust want. The Rust Lord wants a pair of gloves from Jaklin. This is very specific. But Jaklin wants "a piece" from the Arbitrator. I've never been higher than dubious to the Arbitrator, but if he isn't specific about what he wants from the Rust Lord, that could probably be looked at as well.

I'm not sure who decided that equippable loot that some people can use should be the single piece of the turn in for the quest. I'm not saying that its a bad idea... But there are problems with it that I feel would be resolved by changing the quest up a lil' bit and giving the nameds a different slot in their loot table to drop the quest piece.

Currently we really don't know what piece Jaklin wants from the Arbitrator. But I've seen him drop 2 different things, and have no idea which is a quest piece. I automatically gave the summon:throwing weapons doohad to a monk because he could use it better than anyone else... but it would really annoy me if thats the key piece.

Is there a reason for this type of loot system? Is it superior in some way that I can't see yet to having a non-useable drop for the quest?

I believe it's to make the key pieces more valuable, and to encourage bribing/cooperation between people who have the key and who don't. Look at it this way: The drops from each named mob in the trash area are going to be worth some platinum if you want to sell them, and maybe someone in the group can use them for an upgrade ( :( ) meaning if you want the key to the factory, you might have to spend a little money, or you might have to spend a little money to have someone let you in.

Jose is exactly correct. As for which pieces they want, it was intended to be rather obvious--the Arbitrator has two pieces of machine-sounding loot and one piece of necromancer-sounding loot on his table, for example. You've probably simply never had Arbi drop his common drop. I see no reason to have the wording specifically ambiguous, however; I'll probably change the text on their dialogue to be clearer.

For reference, the Rust Lord's quest drop is the 'hardpoint mantle' and Arbitrator Natalus's drop is 'mask of hate', or something like it.

We also got Arbitrator to drop the uncommon loot 3 times in a row. The 4th was the lucky.
Not to mention the arbitrator first spawned after ~30 PHs :tinfoil:

So just be patient... I guess.

It's the affliction enchancement mask or something.

I thought the arbiters common loot was the dart summon clicky? We've seen 4-5 of those and 1 key.

thankyou.
I'm not too big of a fan of the ambiguity, but i definitely am a fan of the interesting quest line and different type of keying.

And the darts are sexy Adalus. =). <3 the zone.

Speaking of which, got the arbiter's key bit last night.
Before I turn it in, anyone looking to buy for some obscene amount? =p

alton, we should hit up factory imo.

Just need confirmation... cause I got "scavenger's gloves" from jarkin in rust, but Rust boss won't accept them.

Is this the right item, or not?

are you Indifferent+ with the Rust Lord?
are you sure you're talking with the Rust Lord, and not any other nameds?

It was actually legitimitally bugged when I helped aisling. I beleive Thinkmeats fixed it soon after and its working now..

<---- was definitely under the same impression.

Basically the * version got put in during the same patch as the fix to the real one, but the * version cloned the problem before it got fixed on the real one.
