OK so here I am down the depths of Newport sewer trying to get my shaman a nice Slime Spear of Slime Sludge Paw.
I have the room nicely clear, and pulling the spawn singling. A gnoll Shaman spawns in the Nameds spot. No biggy.. I pul him. NOw it gets intersting.. I lay into him with my paladin only to quickly get the message , his magical skin is protecting him and absorbs the blow. At this point im like... WTF he can cast rune shields? I didnt' see him do that. So I keep attacking knowing at some point the rune shield has to break. I start my debuffing with my shaman, slow, plus dots. ONly to find out that nothing will land. Keep getting resisted. The Gnoll cons only light blue to my paladin, this is very surpiseing. About 3 minutes go by with both my 18th level Paladin and 15th level Shaman Meleeing this gnoll with no damage what so ever.
5 minutes go by... The only damage I have manged to inflict on this gnoll is 1 pt 2 times. I now realize what is wrong. This gnoll has a Damage Reduction of 50pts. As my paladin can hit for a max of 51. The rooms I was pulling to then starts to spawn and I am forced to kill the room spawns while dealing with this invincable gnoll.
I sent out OOC about this unkillable gnoll. Most people think I am crazy I think. Many say send a petition about it, Some say just zone. Considering I am in the bottum of the sewers zoning is not a option as thats a long way to run and train gnolls.
Finaly a friendly 65th level Necromancer gives me a tell.. I have sadly forgotten his name. He comes down and I exscort him to the gnoll with my shaman. My paladin sitting thier just attacking the unkillable gnoll (on the plus side I siad what th heck and put on my other weapons to train.. if I couldn't kill it might as well get some skill pts)
The nerco comes down seeing its green just attacks with his pet. To his surpise and mine.. it doesn't die right away.. it took his pet a good 45 secs- minute to kill this gnoll. The nerco was very impressed, thinking it had a Ton of hps.
With the gnoll dead on the ground I thanked the necro who gated. Looting the body I found only a buckler and some copper for my troubles. All in all my paladin fought this gnoll for about 15 minutes. Thankfuly with it being light blue and my shaman meding out of combat I didn't die.
I had sent a Petition but never got a repley on it.
So thiers my tale of the Invicilable Gnoll Shaman. On the plus side after it died I did manage to get my spear I was after.
