The CH thread

You will not convince me that CH in its current form is good design.

But if you want me to shut up about it, I guess that is what I will do.

Imagine, if you will, a bridge.

Imagine this bridge has a main support beam. A big, ugly thing, built of outdated materials, spraypainted with graffitti, worn by wind and rain. A blight on the eye.

Now imagine, because you don't like the looks of the support beam, you simply remove it, and the bridge comes crashing down into a smoking pile of rubble.

Imagine CH is the support beam and the bridge is the raid game.

Do you still want to remove it?

I need to bind a key to typing out "Incredible argumentation

Just do what SOE does, if it ain't broke it needs more features, it worked for them right.............right

I think WR handles CH relatively well. The 2 second pause is great to put at least some limit on CH chains trivializing raid content. I would love to see more encounters like Thought Horror Overmind, Trial 1 in Tower of Tarhyl, etc. The raid fights that do not reward main tanking with CH chains are good.

I am very well aware of the problems trying to make any changes to so fundemantal game designs.

I still take offence at being asked to
"Shut the fuck up"
, when i try in oderly fassion to disccus possible ways to make the game better.

It is hard to get a quality discusion on what could be done about CH, when it so often gets interrrupted by people who are afraid of making any change.

My point is that the thing to do is to find out how you would chaneg things if you wanted to change them, and once you have some kind of solution you can then look at the cost/benefit of actually implementing it. Given the balancing nightmare involved there is a good chance that any new solutions to the healing problems will not be worth it to implement. But unless you actually try to come up with better solutions, there is no way you will ever find one.

Given how this thread turned out, I do not think this is the time or the place to look into CH changes.

You should like the Permafrost boss fight then.

After everyone has already stated everyhitng has been "discussed" before.

Someone pass out the rebreathers we're running low on Oxygen.

Fine, now shut the fuck up.

i dont think he cares. nor anyone else. and i dont think there is a "problem" to fix. its a perfectly good spell. inwhich some think need rebalancing because of how dam good it is.

I'm pretty sure Melwin was saying STFU because of peeps saying "it'll balance this, unbalance that", and his point was there is no "easy button" for balancing. it takes a lot of freaking work doing all kinds of things that regular players have absolutely no idea about. Even I am not enlightened to the extent of the work involved, but i got the point. I suppose instead he could have said, "Thank you for coming up with all these great ideas that don't work and would create mountains of work for the staff, not you, because you don't like have your entire HP bar replenished in one spell (which is crazy!!!!). Thanks, but really, no thanks."

STFU works fine for me, but i'm not as sensitive as some people.

The point is, Milvang, CH is a building block of the game at the high end, and there are too many other issues on the table to spend hours and hours trying to rebalance the ENTIRE END GAME. Especially when it's not that needed. Everything is fine the way it is. It's just tedious and leads to one archetypal kill applying to alot of raid mobs.
