Tears of Elael (CoD Event)

It IS kind of boring that every caster gets the same item but in the long run aren't you coming out ahead with a clicky that will always be useful vs a weapon you'll eventually upgrade beyond?

If your casters don't want the tear, you need better casters. That clicky will be useful basically forever.

I don't think the item in question is very 'meh.'

It is a direct upgrade to mind hunger, is instant cast, and can be clicked from inventory.

It may not be -as useful- to a class that can summon mod rods.

Awaiting other mages with this item to voice their opinions.

Well quote from Kanwen (Valdian)

One thing to note is that mana is not an issue for mages once you hit Tur'Ruj, the fights don't last long enough for you to use it all, your healers will almost always go through theirs before you do (and you'll be dead once that happens) so getting additional mana isn't really a big deal

There are two issues for casters

(1) doing more damage and this does nothing for it because we cannot use the mana we already have

(2) Survivability and surprisingly minus 900 HP does not do much for that.

Mind Edacity is great for exping or for raids, just not all raids. I would be surprised if someone made a post saying the item isn't very good, but I have come to expect these posts from you.

Have you any idea when I last ran out of mana on a raid?

No?

Not surprising because neither can I.
Not in the last year certainly.

During fights is not the only time to use this. There is also after wipes and during exp groups. Also, there will be fights that you start running oom or low on when you get there. I think this item is amazing and looking forward to getting one.

idk how you play a mag ther are some figts wher you run oom maybe you do something wrong and pls stop bitshing over items you dont have

I've only clicked mine about 30 or 40 thousand times.

Also, it is a light source when worn or while in inventory. Didn't you make a thread bitching about not being able to see and that you didn't want to summon yourself a lightstone all the time? I don't want to dig the thread out, but I'm fairly certain you did.

Some time ago there was the universally appreciated introduction of measures aimed at reducing the time taken to recover from wiping.

Unfortunately Mage was more or less overlooked when this was implemented.
The result is that despite having what is probably the highest out of combat mana recovery on the server it takes me about twice as long to recover full combat status compared to the next slowest class.

What I would like to suggest is that the casting time and mana for Mage summons and self/pet buffs be reduced significantly to bring recovery time more in line with other classes.

ps
I guess Beastlords would also appreciate a similar consideration.

So I guess an item that helps you recover mana faster isn't any good?

Hold on, you CRIED your ass off in a other thread regarding manaregen after wipe on raid. That it "takes forever" to get FM after a wipe, or something like that. USE that clicky! BANG more mana! WOOOT.

Ive wanted to use this item over mindlash on my shadowknight what is wrong with you

tear of elael is arguably the best of the helize rewards, the only other one that is close is the warrior scythe. everything else gets bagged pretty quick, but the tear is good forever.

6 and 2/3rds ft per 600s summonable in total, on demand, and stacking with the modrod timer is really good. Thanks Marza

just not all raids.

Also I'm not sure what raid this isn't good on. Even on fights that AE constantly, you can always time it so that you use it just before a group/raid heal lands. The whole argument about 'survivability' is terrible because modrods damage you too. At what point is the extra 350 damage from tear so detriment that it makes the item "meh".

I was playing zorlon once on sharnree and rujik and was like 10% health and clicked my tear and was now like 6% hp. I was like oh shit and then clicked my beads and everything was fine because pushing buttons and inconsequential amounts of things.

Tear is amazing please dont change it. I use this thing all the time.

You are pulling that Valdian quote out of context. There is a weird raid stage when you are doing Spires and easy Turuj where you never OOM, but trust me mana becomes an issue for everyone on all of the ultra endgame fights. I know on some of our first kills, nearly everyone was OOM. It could even be argued that we would have not won if not for having tear of elial on all our casters.

I find that difficult to believe.

Mage casting is SO slow that I will go oom so long after all other casters and healers that the raid will be long dead. This is completely independant of which Mob you are killing. This is precisely the point that Valdian was making.

I am not claiming that it is completely useless. On particularly intensive groups or recovering from a wipe it might have an occasional use.

Having already got 3 mana clickies (pots rods and dretch worm) and mana not being an issue on raids, I simply find this a particularly uninspiring offering.

not good for you = dont quest for it...
dont expect the entire content of the server to be fixed to serve ONE mage or eve ONE person.
