Same stats/HPs/Saves/Proc. Any chance we can get the DMG on the spear up to 17 like the sword is? Pet's have a fixxed delay iirc so it shouldn't matter if you change the delay or leave it the same. I currently have a 64 mage with no interest in buying the spear spell due to the fact i'd never cast it for my pet.

Perhaps adding a proc to the spear that is more of an offensive proc would help even things out without making the two items identical. I like the idea of the weapons to have flavor beyond aesthetics.

Maybe a pure hate proc? This might make the summoned spear desirable by untwinked tanks as well as help the pet hold aggro a bit better.

Hey do those droppable/non-rent pet weapons with retarded stats still come from Citadel?

If weapon DMG * 2 (max 100 from 50 weapon DMG) is greater than their normal max attack damage (after pet focuses) they use that for their max attack damage instead. 60+ pets are like 62 or so max hit normally? before focuses.

i thought mage summons besides spectral silks were supposed to suck. isn't that why there are world drops and vendor buyable pet items that completely destroy anything a mage can summon?

no pet used at 65 will gain anyhthing from a wep dmg change, but a different proc would be nice.... b4 they had the same proc because they were no 2 hours cds... not the case anymore, pure hate or a decent lifetap woould be amazing.

Getting into pointless code headache territory but random thought I'm sure someone has suggested before: making the weapons pseudo-expable on pets. They'd level up after relatively small amounts of exp for better resists/stats and eventually amounts of damage that would actually affect their real hit damage (although maybe with some kind of adjustment to make sure that level 63 pets wouldn't be able hit as hard as Runic2 pets) but all is lost and you have to start over again if the pet dies.

And another thing, maybe change how weapon DMG affects pets; perhaps a damage bonus based on weapon ratio rather than the current "replace damage if higher, otherwise do nothing" system. First stab numbers: +(ratio*10) max hit damage, i.e. +6 from the spear (~0.681) and +7 from the sword (~0.708).

But if you have both spells, why would you ever cast the spear? The sword is just better. Even if this change to how the damage is calculated anyone wanting to use these weapons would just wait 2 minutes for the recast.

I think putting a situation proc on them would contribute to the usefulness of both weapons.

Someone else can think of the little details of specific weapons, idc. Seems like this thread was asking that there be no difference between them at all, anyway.

Actually that someone would probably end up being me anyway.

What is the offensive equivalent to a 50 point rune proc? Maybe drop the AC on the spear and give it some STR instead too (10 STR from items gives pets +1% melee damage, although alone that's probably less than a whole number hit damage increase...)

Could these weapon spells be made no recast time so that it's feasible to give them to pets other than the mage's in a raid scenario? Pets have a 2min lockout timer so it's not as if you can spam pets and outfit them rapidly for some weird abuse scenario. As it stands it's more an issue of "I can't really wait around with 2 spell gems locked out of use for spells I need to kill mobs in order to give these to other people's pets".

Anyone have any opinion on the "making pets always benefit from having weapons, damage-wise" thing? I thought that ended up being a pretty good idea, figured someone would endorse it.
