SoD character blog to create some atmosphere

Well, I was struck with the writing bug. I haven't written over a 1000 words of creative stuff in a long time, lol. I need to include pictures some how to liven it up. I guess I could explain it was Jaqulin being a good sketcher.

This is awesome and well-executed from the entries I've read, so major kudos for that.

Oric is adorable, and I want to go all Angelina Jolie and adopt him. It's easy to forget what it was like to start out on this server (or any new MMO, which SoD certainly is even if you played Live), and your blog is awesome for veterans and new players alike. For the older players, it gives us context for what we're doing so we don't forget how we started. For the newer players, it gives them a look at what is in store, and offers helpful advice. I can't wait to see Oric's name OOCing for groups so I can rush on to an alt for a chance at internet super-stardom. It would certainly beat my last attempt

Smiled the entire time i read your blog. This is such a wonderful thing. I have added it to my favorites listed "Halfling Adventures". The Elvis bit really got me! Keep it up--looking forward to more.

Thanks again! :)

Meanwhile, I've convinced my girlfriend to write as well, since I can't produce enough output for you guys all the time ;)

I will try to contact Aomi again about that theme for Planet Dalaya. I've subscribed to it and it's really interesting to hear about all the raids going on. And the crazy shit Zekulan keeps looting. Mad. Wouldn't have known about any of that without people's blogs :)

:)

I actually get a surprising amount of traffic..

Most I've had in a day is 54... Pretty crazy.

I update mine 3X a week with plenty of pics and strats for the raid bosses :)

hey! what a surprise. reading though from the beginning, and hey! that name is familiar!
i only ever played EQ. and i find soloing way too boring (and hard seeing as i usually play SK's). though i box now, im not really sure why, because there's always a group going around. SoD is much better than EQ for groups... but EQ days did teach me how to get a group together quickly.
enjoying the blog! makes me want to start one. :D

Bump. Cause this deserves it.

I have a SK around your lvl, I'm gonna look for you next time I log it on. Reading your blog, I always get the sense that you play for the enjoyment of the game, and not just "the race to 65". Shared sentiment.

Oh, thanks :)

Would love to group with you! :) Yes, we do enjoy the game a lot. I don't feel really pressured to get to 65 as fast as possible -- it wouldn't work anyway, both Ayba and I have really busy lives at the moment and we only get to play for 3 or 4 hours a week.

The result is that unfortunately, the friends we make here are usually level 31 - 62 in the time it takes us to get from 30 to 31. Yes, I'm looking at you, Angior and Dagmar! :) We'll catch them at 65 since they have no way to run then.

But it's all good. We found a bunch of quests that are unexpectedly fun and now that Ayba has her first group port spells, we're exploring the world a bit more. We're not in a hurry, if we'd let the pressure build up, MMO fatigue would set in :(

Update: Oh, and don't forget Planet Dalaya in case you're still interested: http://www.psy-q.ch/planetdalaya/ It can aggregate everyone's SoD blogs into one feed/page. We'd just need to make a nice-looking SoD theme for it.

I still check this thing regularly. Its a pretty fun read.

How are page views looking like if I may be so bold as to ask?

Rusheeth: Oooh, it's Oric and Ayba :D Great stuff, that movie :) I've corrected the post, now the lizard has its proper label. I thought I'd seen Rushonix wear a robe, didn't know beastlords had one.

Waldoff: Numbers are bouncing up and down a bit, on bad days it's around 20 views, on good days 100. That's views, not hits. No one's more amazed by that than we are, by the way :)

I feel we're slow to progress and maybe that's boring for people, but on the other hand we want to enjoy all the zones on the first run through and that means we can't stand around in a single zone and churn mobs in ideal exp groups for hours.

I still have time to rush the game with some other character in the future ;)

Keep doing what you're doing man. Just found the blog from recent bump here and have read the whole thing... highly amusing.

My friend and I have a set of 4 chars that are almost in your level range, but we tend to do a lot of the 'stay in one zone' sorta thing when we find a sweet spot; otherwise I'd say you two should join us and round out the group.

Oh, we don't mind staying still and hitting things in the face when the exp is good, we just go for sightseeing sometimes and try to do slightly unusual things to the game (like duoing Shrouded Isle at the moment, in crap gear).

It's fun :)

Well our band of 5 hit 30 last night, so I'll keep my eyes out for you, and you keep your eyes out (or perhaps ask someone taller to look around for you) for Gilby who also has some... height issues. We will likely be tinkering with the unliving in Kaladim next time we're on.
