SoD Audio Tutorial

I think Brimz mentioned all the important points.

As for a voice I'd either nominate Adlarac or maybe myself (if it wasn't for some wicked accent).

Now that's what I call a big bag of awesome thx Xar !! Now I just need to go back in this zone...
Will there be a list eventually with all sounds (thunder, snow etc ..)?

This is very cool. I always thought it would be great to replace the music in poair with Stravinsky's Firebird Suite - but I didn't think it was possible.

While you are at it dinking around with sounds, I'm pretty sure every bard on the server would love you forever if you could figure out a way to selectively remove (and/or replace) all the sounds from bard songs in-game. It's been discussed quite a few places, but here's the last I heard on it:

This is not the first time the subject has been brought up. *smile* It was mentioned once before HERE, HERE, and again in the most recent thread entitled "The Official 'Discuss Bards' Thread" which I have quoted below ...

Can there be an option to have bard songs have no sound effects at all? I've had to turn down my sounds because they were driving me mad.

I'll add my "amen" to that comment. I love playing with sound, but if there is a bard around I have to turn my speakers off. The sound from bard songs makes me not want to have one around and I really REALLY like what they bring to the group/raid.

Please oh please is this possible.

Other than this 2 thumbs up for the recent bards changes

Not to be redundent but, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE with a cherry on top! I've had to turn my sound down as well, and have gone as far as avoiding groups with bards (and those with the froggy jars -- those songs are just as distracing!) because it was so awkward to play with no sound at all. :(

Pretty sure this has been asked quite a few times and the problem is client side, so it cant be fixed.

Yep. I would if I could.

Just putting that out there!

Classical music varies far to much in volume and pace to be a decent background theme for a videogame in it's entirety.

Do I really need to remind everyone [what] [questing] [really] [sounds] [like]?

Please, oh please, at least provide a list of bardsong sound files... Either so that we can pull the "fake .WAV trick" to turn them off, or make our own replacements...

If I could, I'd be converting Tim Halbert's "Excremental Intermission (Boomshine Mix)" (Heheheh... cr*ppy name, I know... pun intended) into either Thurgadin or SNP's ambient music... I'd have NO PROBLEM standing around working on tradeskills with that in the background (without having to run another app to play it). If you haven't played Boomshine and heard the track, google it and let the ~2min track loop a few times.

I would be a happy happy camper if you could turn off or at least turn down the volume of the thunder when it rains.

Not all classical music is like that - but yes, the Firebird would have to be edited to a more volume consistent score, possibly shortened.

(Not that I'm saying it will happen - I am well aware my taste in musical variety may well not suit the SoD population at large. Just saying what I would replace the music with on my end.)

P.S. Nice tunes.

poor use of your current tools. I propose that you make everything rivervale(happy happy carnival), befallen(disquieting chimes and crunks), or south karana aviak treehouse(freaking pump beautiful music).

In fact, I think Junius/Onos had the best description of it.
