SoD 2.0 - Balance Topic II

We got one on October third, and one on October seventh. Since then we've gotten nothing. We've killed nothing but boss mobs with Relic chances too, Baladan/Aglak/Gertoz of the frozen, Grand Librarian, Faralak, Hunter of souls, MOTE, Rymaz Sunbane, etc.

These are mobs we've taken down more than once too, it's not like a "this is the first time we killed him/her and she dropped nothing/this is bullshit, etc."

It's a "holy hell this is the 9th time we've killed the frost king and no relic."

Tinkaa, where have you guys been raiding and getting (probably more than) a relic a week?

Relic droprates were reduced across the board, mostly due to the raid size changes. I'm pretty sure this was noted when we moved over to the 2.0 ruleset, if not then apologies for it not being something known.

Edit: I guess this wasn't noted anywhere... we really should have made everyone known, I'm truly sorry about that. :/

rymaz didn't even drop relic before? or if he did, he never dropped them for the scutch/defiance bunch. Faralak in Storm's Eye; please note the level and difficulty of this mob - he DOES NOT drop relics.

You haven't killed that many bosses that regularly drop relics anyways, more so just the ones whom drop them 20% of the time pre2.0 changes - the ones who use to drop relics very very often were more like Tier5+ bosses.

The only guy dropping relics i have ever seen in SE was Great Librarian; neither Faralak, Aglak and the others did ever, maybe ancients instead.
Motec has so a low chance to drop relics that we always skip him when killing Gotss althougth he is 2 mobs away, its prolly similar to Lord Zayith in WW or Gnok chance around 10% i think or even less.

We got a ton of relics off the left frozen actually, but then we were always pretty lucky relic-wise.

Is it safe to assume Wardwyrms have been looked at?

I'd like to see a slight buff to Wardwyrm HP, if possible. We were able to keep one aux tank in on each mob, and our healer mana ran out just as the fight ended. However, we killed them together, on the same pull. Ruin reported having to burn down one, wipe, and kill the other before 2.0, which is not necessary with the current setup. For example, we end the Sunderdrake pulls (since Onos sucks at splitting!) with around 50% mana on each healer.

Doing mobs like that is lame as hell and it's just indicative that the fight was never balanced too well. Ideally those mobs would reset like most boss mobs, and while zerging it down is hardly an exploit, it's certainly not something you should hope to achieve (same with 3 pull in IP).

Ruin had to do that our first few runs, but got the hang of it later on. I am actually glad that they are easier now, and am also glad that Taesh only spawns one wave instead of 2-3 the first time a guild does it.

Some things were just shitty before 2.0 and have gotten fixed with the changes.

What the fuck. I was told to bring both first of all!! Second of all I split them on accident anyway :toot:

they were also harder back then :p and we did it only a couple times till we could kill them at the same time. which i think was 2-3 tries

I trust they're of appropriate difficulty if you finished the fight with no mana. I can't see a reason in the world to buff them to the point of having to wipe between killing one of the two hardlinked mobs in a pull, especially considering Steel should be progressing through that set of trash normally at this point. Finishing with no mana seems fine to me on a difficulty scale of trash mobs.

Yeah the relic rate is pretty low atm... We went into ndhk with a group of 11 and cleared most of it and got 0 relics...

Yaralith, a mob who used to drop a relic about EVERY time, didnt drop one...

Before that in an entire IP clearing sans Ulaz we got 0 relics.

I dont know if the rate was just halved or what but it seems pretty bad. And this is coming from a guild who only needs 4 or 5 more relics.

While it would be nice to get the last few we need, this certainly impacts all raiding guilds and I think (knowing Woldaff) that is where he was going with this. The 2.0 changes were meant to improve things for those not in the top 3 or 4 guilds. The current level of relic drops certainly will not help up and coming guilds get a foot-hold in the raid game. As such it would be nice if it were investigated to ensure its not just a run of bad luck (like Goldram dropping every time we kill Deyranni  ).

Related to the relic situation, Gnok the Silverback used to drop relics (we had gotten 2 from him in the past, one when the actual spells dropped, and one after it was changed to quest scrolls). Last time we killed him, he dropped an ancient scroll. I presume this means he can no longer drop relics? Is there a reason for this change? He is quite a bit more difficult than other ancient-dropping mobs, and on par with other relic-dropping mobs.

You presume incorrectly.

Also, relics for clerics are most definitely more important than before. Before you could have 3 clerics without any relics doing cheals, whereas now the relic heals for clerics are essential.
