Skill Mods

I have noticed that some skill mods do nothing for me as a warrior. I always had the impression that if you acquire a skill mod it would work. For example, with charms, classes that cannot learn critical blasts/heal criticals through AA's can acquire them through charms. I dunno if tomes even work since I haven't gotten to that point with tomes yet but maybe they do...

For example Stryda has a mod for Evocation +5 and as I was told +5 Evocation is 1% dmg. I do a nuke for 313 normally and with the +5 Evocation on and off it does the same dmg when it's suppose to do 313 + 3.13 dmg. Also for Alteration I have Alteration +13, I dunno how much healing this is suppose to give me but it does not work on me either. For block +7, I know I would need a shield in order to gain the block I guess because i'm a "tank"? However Monks get the same block skill also and doesn't need to wear a shield...Just saying. +7 Block is small but it would help. Just trying to figure stuff out...is this the way it suppose to be or is stuff broken, etc...
 
Spell skill bonus things check for your effective skill being over 250; could change that to just look for the item mod and being level 65 I guess.

Block is kind of similar, you only get defensive skill mods if the skillcap for the skill at your level is above 0. Although I could get around that for shield block too if you don't mind knights getting way more out of it than you.

As someone with divination seemingly stuck at 111 I would like this. Also as someone who has 90 evocation because my class doesn't actually get spells that need this and the only way to max it would be to cast a shit load of bad undead nukes.

I had to cast See Invisble about 1000 times to max my divination for Mahdi to do anything with overcap divination. It's really not a big deal.
 
10 casts per skillup, 250 points, so 2500 casts. At 6 seconds per cast, that's 15k seconds, or just about 4 hours.

Your choice, but I do stuff like that when I'm bored.

Your choice, but I get 30,000 kills for unused characters in Star Ocean which takes like 150 hours when I'm bored.

stop it! all this talk of star ocean is making me wanna play again...and i just got done beating star ocean for snes!
 
Meh, I bought it for my PSP for portable Star Ocean. On Last Hope, I've just got Arumat, Lymle, and Faize's battle trophies left for 900/900. I'd easily have 5 CoP if I soloed instead.
