Shopping system

Would there be any way we would get a search system for shopping? Alll I want to do is find out if anyone is selling Elixer of Bliss but to do that I have to spend half an hour typing /cmd listview 5 then /cmd listsold with every name I think might have a spell for sale. Something as simple as /cmd listfind <class> <slot> would be great. It could return a list of Seller name - Item link - price for everyone selling an arm slot item for a warrior or whatever combination you type in. It could also work for spell as a slot so /cmd listfind cleric spell would return every spell for sale for a cleric.

I have no idea how hard this would be to put in, but it would save people a lot of trouble shopping.

Thanks,

This idea has been rejected a lot previously, so I wouldn't hold your breath.

As an aside, it's elixir, not elixer. This mistake happens so much and it bugs the shit out of me. Sorry.

I've been looking for Elixir of Bliss for a very long time. I can say that in the last two months, as I have done comprehensive searches of my own through the listing system (it takes a lot of time, but I've done it), I have never once seen Elixir of Bliss listed. So at least, for your specific case, I can say that you probably wouldn't find it there. High demand spells are often sold in the /auc channel and snapped up before they're auctioned twice. Let people know you're interested, and as soon as one drops, they'll remember that you're looking for it.

P.S. Be prepared to part with your soul for it.=D

If there won't be a search system, can the listview system be streamlined?

Currently, it takes much longer than it should to view the listview system. Everytime you want to see someone's items you have to type /cmd listview X and search through the system and then /cmd listsold blahblah and god forbid if you have a name like Wviliil. (He does have excelent prices though :)

Would it be possible to implement a command that, instead of listing the next X amount of people who are selling stuff(and their little description of their wares), create a command that types /cmd listsold for the next X amount of people in listview.

For example, you type /cmd listSEE 3 and this is equivalent to typing /cmd listview for the next 3 people in the listview system.

That /cmd listsee 3 to view the listsold of the next 3 people would help. As for Elixir of Bliss, I probably can't aford it yet. But I am saving my coppers... I'll just keep looking and asking around.

You can also list items on http://sod.nemesis2.com, altho it's limited to items that actually come up on fomelo. From the site:

I’m working on a new feature where someone can tag an item with a “For Sale Listing”. So if you have something for sale, search for it in the database, click on the “comments” link for that item to get to that item’s page, scroll to the bottom and you will see a link to “List this item for sale” (you need to be logged in to see the link). It’s pretty simple right now, and obviously you can only list items that are in the database, and since the database pulls from fomelo, only equip-able items are available.

So far, no one has tried it out, but to demonstrate, I've listed an arrow for sale. Anyone who lists an item will get their own URL to a "storefront" - something like http://sod.nemesis2.com/shop/jlapier (where 'jlapier' will be your username - go ahead and chase that link and see what it looks like).

I would like to see an improvement (in-game) for buying and selling. I am not sure what to suggest, really. I heard player-merchants were in, and taken out, previously.

Live did well with the bazaar system, but I believe it is safe to assume if it were that easy- it would already be in.

I have a handful of mules. I do a lot of tradeskills. I am not a fan of spamming the auction channel when I am online- so if there is anything that can be done to help out merchants and buyers alike, it would be a great improvement to the game.

i can really see it . 1 zone full of ppl looking for items will make the zone (a) go down every now and then and (b) the afk ppl who are selling items will get pl / ld after a while .

No. The bazaar system was rejected out of hand not because it was too hard to code, but because it was not the system that the powers that be wanted.

The listing system is time consuming to browse, but it is easy and effective to use. Particularly now that the goods stay listed for 96 hours, as opposed to the initial 48. (PS THANKS for that!!!!). The fact that I've seen consistently about 200 people listed for the last month tells me that people think it's worthwhile to use - even without spamming the auction channel. I know it's continued to give me good returns.

P.S. Ranger Sheck's listing system might help as well - it looks as though it has promise as an alternative listing system. Whether or not it becomes such will depend entirely on how many people decide to use it.

The system they put in dropped prices to a consistent loss. Everyone would just search an item, buy from the cheapest. Therefore, if you were selling and wanted some plat, you just had to undercut the next guy. Then the next one in undercuts you and so on and so on until the economy is ravaged.

I support the /cm listsee idea though. I think limiting it to 1 may be wise, just to keep it from being too easy and fast. Maybe a built in time delay of 30-60 seconds so people cant just spam the thing. It would make it simpler to look through and not have to type every single name, oh god, some of those names.

The only thing I would like to see with this is the ability to put the current listing system into it's own chat window by right clicking on the window you can organize ooc, auctions, tells, groups etc.

I would love to see "list" in that menu, so I could create a window just for shopping, so that what i'm browsing doesn't get lost in spam from the other catagories.

Ngl when my guildies are searching for something I usually end up knowing who has it cheapest anyways due to having a toon made entirely of listsold macros. Even the ppl who don't bother to put up their stuff. Just 1234567890 click repeat, view all the spam.

Just one simple command that works for a listview & listsold combined, so there is no typing required- just one macro button to press: /cm listsoldview

..or you know, something along those lines. Please.

You could always put all your other chat in different windows and leave only listing stuff in the main chat.

The listview system is classified as 'other' so you can easily put it in its own window - although there are a few other things that show up in that category, if you're browsing the listsold, then you won't be seeing those things anyhow.
