Rogue AA, Tome and gear DUMP!

You want to make sure you have ancient:sihala to help with stamina burn while using stances.

Go for backstab mods wyc and the conversion for +dmg mods is aroung 5skill per 1weapon dmg.

I now have: Max weapon skills (except Hand to Hand). I am maxed on Pick Lock.

New questions:

Primary hand has XX weapon delay, for off hand you want a faster atk delay correct? Preferrable....

Also, the Class AA Backstab: What is the actual % increase per level? Anyone know?

MH/OH weapons : you want the best ratio piercer you can get in MH, and w/e weapon you can get with the best ratio in offhand

Log on at the same time as me, we got some mobs to kill. A decent dagger drops from a mob we've killed for my scrub. Speaking of, where are you now? My cousin and I aren't raiding so log in ASAP you punk!

haha! PST (Pacific Standard Time) bro....around 8pm now. :( Seems to be the best I can do of recent.

Signed,
Your personal Punk

P.S. Last night was fun! Shhhhhhhh ;)

No buddy got knocked out, but there was a lot of gimpin going on.... :D

I know's it's been a few months but I wanted to check up on some things. Some of the below are questions and some are statements.

I have +30 to backstab mod (max backstab of course). Honestly....I am wondering HOW much of a difference it is. If I have say 15 vs 30......what's the big difference if at all? Anyone?

10% crit is ....well I am trying to get there. I've maxed my crit chance AAs and see a lot of crits in general. So far with what I have, gear/AA/skills I am happy with the results.

WTF is wrong with backstab? Why is it so chaotic when it comes to dmg and chance to hit? Meaning: If I wait until I see the message, "You see an opening" and press the BS button it's 100% to hit. With out it, even with +30 to backstab it's a complete random chance. I would say around a 50/50 chance to hit. Also, why do I backstab something or anything and do 300 dmg, then do another one 2400 (non-crit)? WTF is that?! That seems so crazy! It's almost like there is no consistency with attacks. Yes, I understand AC of the mob plays a roll and a few other factors that reduces your overall dmg you do, but I think backstab needs to be looked at.

Is 2400 too much? Is 300 too little? I find it hard to believe that I have all the AAs to increase the amount you backstab and yet I am only doing 300 or sometimes less on a backstab to a mob when I am behind them, and a minute later I have a successful backstab that does over 2k. I am just trying to understand why the huge differences in numbers here.

Some of these mobs are mundane creatures, not bosses or named mobs.

Increased piercing weapon focus: That better's your chance at hitting a mob with your primary hand, correct? If so....does it really help? I only have a +5 right now...but if I take that item off, I really don't notice a difference at all. I'm wondering about the ratio and whether these type things are even worth my time or not.

Thanks

25 is that cap for skill bonuses so you could lose 5 and have no negative impact.

Not sure on the BS stuff having never played a rogue here. I was under the impression that waiting for openings is a dps loss compared to mashing BS as soon as it refreshes but I could be wrong.

You really can't eyeball a difference in melee stats/damage/etc, you need to parse it. +10 to a weapon skill is a bit of a dps increase but not that substantial. There are only so many ways you can increase your dps though so every little bit helps.

playing a rogue means being constantly disappointed in your backstab button. Sometimes you go into a zone and every mob has an insane amount of ac and you see a tiny dick 300 damage backstab and just have to cry inside despite having the best dagger in the game. Don't ever sacrifice your backstab mod, I don't even know its actual effect 5 years later but there is no point in lowering your damage output. Unless a fight specifically requires you have X HP or X RESIST to actuall stay alive its worthless to drop damage something for non relevant stats. Almost all ncreases in sod/eq are tiny as hell but its all you can do to gather all your .5% damage increases.

Everybody told me waiting for openings was worthless. When I parsed it a few months ago it seemed to be worse. This was a very shitty and short parse but overall I find it irresponsive half the time I get the message and hit backstab to have it fail/be missed. Its also less interesting to just stare at the chat log waiting for it to popup.

First: Thanks for the feedback.

I can't agree more about not waiting for the 'opening' message for a backstab. I DO want to share....I have seen and noticed a difference in a successful and failed backstab if you wait about 2 seconds after your backstab button reappears (The CD is done). So, hit back stab, it comes back up, wait about 2 seconds then hit it again. I see a much higher success rate of hit compared to mashing it as soon as it appears. Waiting that 1 or 2 seconds makes a world of a difference, at least that is what I have witnessed.

Honestly it almost makes playing a rogue ....boring. change stance....oooo wow.....but most the time you are /autoattack.

bleh

I would have mailed zaela flowers in real life if she gave rogues a stancing system like warriors because were the lamest class. Even wizards are more involved.

Traps seemed cool but they are effectively useless and are a pain in the ass due to playing inventory management simulator 2014 to use one.

Poisons are all but useless outside of 2 maybe 3. Cyzaine had a cool idea of making them ammo procs to alleviate buff slots but it never occurred.

That said I almost completely funded my 70k backstab charm by looting houses with pickpocket and the fence so that was clearly the coolest feature.

I had 40k saved up but .....because my first char deserved it and I spent it on a charm for him. That 70k charm is my next interest for sure. So, I've yet to loot houses and stuff. I heard those Large purses only pay 10pp or something....so, i know it's easy to pick the lock, take the items and move on, but that seems not worth it, unless you have a super secret awesome method. You could always PM me if you have something you wish to not share publicly. :)

I can't remember where they are but some houses have items that fence for 100/50p. I spent a lot of time waiting for groups or some other dumb shit on my rogue and would just steal everything in newport/erudin/grobb/oggok wherever else in around 10 mins every in game night. If you have port clickies its easy to get a few hundred plat everytime the game transitions into night.

Compared to everything else you can do for money it sucks. But hey nobody else can do it except bards who cant get the "good stuff".

Thinking back to my days of Rogue-ing

The class itself was pretty straightforward and boring. Getting new items and seeing bigger numbers scroll by is the extent of the entertainment aside from fight mechanics and such, but any class gets to enjoy those.

Really what the only really fun part was as a Rogue was scouting ahead on raids in progression zones looking at the next pull, assigning targets to tanks and counting mobs until the next named.

Come to think of it, most of my fun came from leading an awesome guild with awesome people, not from playing a Rogue.

shut up. the only thing you ever did was play my alts while i smashed all the content. loot my alligators !

Sounds good. Yes Ludo, after putting time in to the class it is straightforward and boring, for the most part. I DO love scouting ahead and....over all sneaking everywhere. That's the best feature by far.
