Rod of Living Fire and the Spell Regen cap

Thinkmeats

War Is Good For Business
It occurs to me that previous discussions of the rod ignored this pretty important aspect. As a buff, the rod of living fire uses the spell mana regen cap, which is pretty much guaranteed to be hit by raid buffs. As such, it'll only actually provide mana regen out of combat on raids, or in groups without enough buffs to hit the cap. This, combined with the buff slot it takes, and the difficulty in obtaining some of the components make only +1 mana/tick off this item weaksauce.

Additionally, I would be interested to learn if anyone actually got the rod of living fire between when the nerf happened and now.

Not having the rod myself I can only add that it's not worth my time. Primary stat items are a dime a dozen in the raid end that can match the stats of this item (without the dmg inc IV which can be had by other items such as blazing veil). Given the added headaches of factioning, 1FT (spell based) just isn't worth it for a primary item. If it were something like wrist or legs with good stats than I might say differently.

Yeah, I had got my giant faction to ally but I wrecked it recently because I was tired of waiting on batty to cough up his scale so I could get 1/tick mana. It'd be the hieght of irony if the item got improved now but I couldn't get it due to faction.

In before complaints that us two are the only people who even seem to give a shit about this item. It's like the EQ thread where all the active high end rangers came out and it turned out that there were like four of them.

Why sir I have a thing to say for me and mine. What I'm pondering is, has any foppish dandy gotten their Rodotron of Quick Flame since this post was made, or has any such person even worked on the quest? If you were thinking of doing it but didnt, my handsome and, let's face it, sexy colleague above would like to know why!
