Review for Necro's

Ya 70-140 DPS is awesome to a raid mob almost as much as amelor's pet alone who does 150 DPS... ~.` A lot of useful utilities like about 20% of what a regular class has? targetted FD pops every 30minsish? I completely disagree with you and I see real relavence to anyones arguement. They neglect looking at all the other classes available and seeing the balance issues. Why play a Necro when you can play a Shaman for example? They heal better, buff better, DoT almost the same, Pets are pretty much comparable, and can slow/cripple hella better then necros and gain mana more almost twice as fast and this is an understandment.

sustainable DPS

Necros have alot more options for their dps choices, DoT dumping, or just sustaining constant, good dps. Their sick mana regen will help them do that. And please don't compare necros to wizards, again. They are different classes. Also, necros don't need healing like all the other int caster classes. Which is a nice thing for the padders.

Alright isn't a big deal anymore, I'm just not gunna play a necro anymore. I'll wait till the next generation of high lvl necro's level up and start another thread. Its pretty damn obvious they need something and sometime you'll all figure that out. I'm patient...

So I did some parsing last night with a test necro while the server was locked.

Necromancer_ftw

-5.5k mana pool
-12FT
-all relics
-raid buffs
-afflication 4
-150AAs
-1 mod rod

Test 1

This combination is for your conservative necro who wants to do remarkable sustained dps, and not lose too much mana.

USING:

Marlow's Cremation + Scitterpox only

I did these two spells constantly for 7 minutes and then I said "Screw it, it's been 7 minutes, and I've been doing this non-stop and I'm still at 75% mana!"

So, you can keep these two spells up for quite a long time!

7 minutes you lose 25% mana, you can keep this going for at least 20 minutes (I said 20 even though the math shows 28 minutes) at 160dps - NOT INCLUDING YOUR PET

Test 2

This selection of spells is for your greedy necro who wants to burn his mana and kill the mob as fast as he/she can!

USING:

Scitterpox, Marlow's Cremation, Caress of Sivyana

It took me 6 minutes to get OOM, and the whole time I did a total of 200DPS with spells. PET NOT INCLUDED

____________________________________________________________________

The following above two tests did not include pets, nor did it include necro damage clicky AAs either. It did include resists. And opps, I forgot to malo/resist debuff the mob too! For the necros who think stacking 200 dots on the mob is your best dps, think again. The health HoT/DoT, pet DoT/HoT and snare DoTs are horrible for mana vs damage and are meant for grouping/soloing situations, not raid situations.

The more you know...

i play a necro, and since this forum is for suggestions, one that i have is perhaps a targetable invis for necros. insofar as i know we never get one, while it seems most other casting classes do. (also the one we do have is very low lvl and has a short duration so many times when in a group and the need to invis arises i find it more beneficial to bum a high level invis from another caster because it lasts a hella lot longer). just suggesting that a higher lvl invis with a longer duration would be nice for necros. a targettable one would be even better.

Given that Raherin just proved that your "70-140 DPS" statement is more or less retarded, let me reiterate my previous sentiment:

Shut up.

I will seriously lock this thread instantly if anyone argues on any basis except hard, verifiable facts in the form of DPS logs or otherwise.

Given that raherin used a test Necromancer that doesn't exist, he used a necromancer that would be at the top of the game with 5.5k mana and insanely geared. He also used Marlow's Cremation + Scitterpox only which in my previous parses I don't have, maybe you overlooked them? I'm just arguing whats feasible now, compare that DPS to the same type of 5.5k mana shaman or magi or wizard. I'm finished arguing, I talked to raherin about this whole thing last night.

That's it. I've had enough of your horrible attempts to twist facts. You are not allowed in necromancer discussion threads ever again.

I was also talking to Raherin last night, and it got me thinking about Necro dps as well. I checked my logs of a few fights where I had a necro and a mage in my group.

The necro was level 63, moderatly equipped, and no AAs.
The mage was level 65, nicely equipped, and 70+ AAs.

The necro did 150dps over 10 fights.
The mage did 190 dps over the same 10 fights.

This doesn't include pets, or HoE.

It really seems to me like the necro is doing quite well for himself.

Alright well I'm just gunna appologize posting shitting up the forum, this isn't as big of a deal to me as I portrayed. Obviously every necros DPS will be different depending on gear and aa's which I guess I was overlooking. So again, Sorry.

I'm running some parses based on equipment that necro's on the server currently have. Will post results once I have them.

Just a little more info for some people.

I did more tests; the level 63 necro pet destroys the level 63 shaman pet, even if the shaman pet is fully buffed and the 63 necro pet isn't. Fights ended with the necro pet at around 75% health each fight.

And also:

Mage pet - Necro relic pet = Same dps

The necro pet isn't that bad, the only difference (which is part of the class design) is that it doesn't tank as well as the mage pet.

Locking this thread because it's gotten cluttered and derailed. We're running some tests on necro DPS and will post in Balance when we're done and still feel Necromancers need changing.
